This is the best kind of how-to video. Quick, to the point, all relevant instructions and tools, links to part, and list of compatible vehicles. Perfect
The exact fix I needed and great instructions. Made the whole process so easy, I literally let my 11 year old son do it while I helped as needed. He likes helping and this was a great job to let him do most of it.
I appreciate the video, I just bought a 2014 F-150, took it on a road trip (Utah to Michigan) and when we got back, the blower started intermittently working! Sometimes it would blow, other times it would just stop. After watching you video, I got behind my glovebox, jiggled the wire harness, and it started blowing!! I pulled out the resistor, bought a new one and Presto Chango, my blower works perfectly again. Thank you for sharing your video, it helped a lot!!
I can’t believe it, you just saved me! My 2010 F150 cab has been freezing cold with NO air coming out the vents. I found your video, then found my resistor & just gave it a wiggle. Instantly started working again. Thank you!
I’m having the same issue don’t know if it’s the blower it’s self or the resistor?? Any ideas on how to tell ? Btw there’s no air blowing out of the vents at all no A/C no heat.. please lmk ASAP
@@Northernman I have a 2009. Fan would work for like 3 minutes then shut off. If I turned it off for 10 minutes it would come back on again for the 3 minutes then shut down again. Eventually it stopped working altogether. Will see if the resistor is the culprit. Appeciate this post. Thanks.
Wasn’t the issues with my 2011 f150, but watching this video got me curious enough to poke around the fuse box’s and to checkout the wiring. Turns out the plug for my blower motor was fried. Thanks for the video.
Very useful video. I figured (old school) , the switch could of been bad.....Nope, it was the resistor. Thinking the Resistor does now, what the switch in older vehicles had done in the past. Changed it out & all 3 speeds on Blower fan are working again. Thanks for taking the time posting video!
I don't know how much money you saved me,but you saved me. I've never heard if a blower motor resister. I have a Ford Freestyle. The removal is much more difficult than your truck. got it done. Im sore. But thanx a million.
Thank you so much for this video. This just happened to my 2012 F150. I got the part mailed to me in a day and put this in and it worked!! Thanks for showing exactly where it is and how to take it out, even how to get the glove box to fold down. Much appreciated!
Thanks for the video. It worked for me. Only thing I had to do different was disconnect the resistor from the wiring harness after removing it. I couldn't get the harness off without using a flat head screwdriver to disconnect the snap lock mechanism.
Thanks for information. Got it replaced and ice cold again 2009 king ranch automatic blower . My looks different from this video. Make sure you pull the part out so you know what it looks like. I went in blind grabing the wrong part at Ford. Automatic or manual AC. My was automatic
Thanks so much for this video. Took me a while to get the bolts unscrewed as I tried various ways of contorting myself to get at them behind the glove compartment but I did it!
At first it didn’t work for me, had to unplug the wires at the motor to reset with the new resistor and then it fired up. The plug will be on the bottom right of the motor. So if yours doesn’t work at first then maybe you could try that. Hope all works, God Bless.
Nice video! I was wondering if this would work for my 2014, the problem with mine is that the climate control won't shut off! It's constantly running no matter what setting I put it on. Please let me know what you think, thanks!
I replaced the fan motor & Resistor but 4 months later No AC. I replaced the motor again & 3 months later Not working. I tested the last fan I saved & Fan Works/Bench tested. Maybe I shouldn’t have replaced the old resistor????
Matthias Grupp Sounds like the resister to me and this video should help you. My truck position 1 stopped working then position 2. 3 and 4 worked. I replaced the resister and it fixed this issue. Hope this helps and good luck.
ive got a 2016 ford expedition blower mitor only works some times turns on for few min then shuts off on its own is it the same problem and fix in this video
I have a problem on my 2016 ford mustang. From time to time when I turn the car on it will turn the ac heating control unit off and hot air will start blowing from the windshield vents. I checked the fuses and they all look ok. In order for me to reset the system I had to disconnect the battery. Any idea of what the issue might be. Thank you
Thanks for the info! What do you think it is for me? Mine started coming for only a few seconds and now it doesn't blow at all. Do you think it's still the resister? Thanks Again!
Chief's Choices If it doesn’t work at all on any speed levels it might be your blower motor. Before it stopped working did any fan speeds work? A guy on here said he watched my video and wiggled the plug that goes into the resister and it works now. Try that and let me know
My blower only worked on high ..chief put a wiring harness and resiter on it it and now want work at all. Also checked wire connections I ran ground wire from the register to fan motor, and it will only work on high What u think it is
The rear window is due to a design flaw with the door wire harness. There is a wire or 2 or 3 that kink and break. I replaced the whole harness and it’s doing it again now. Best bet is to crimp those wires together. Terrible design to make them continuously fold.
can you connect the resister by plugging it in first before u bolt it up ? I put a new one in bolted it up same thing 2006 150 lariat on blow on high that's it ??
Dave Wilson I’m pretty sure you can. But I just bolted mine in first then plugged it in. This fix usually works if the blower still works but just not on certain speeds. If the blower stops all together not sure if the fix will work.
Does this work for lariat versions? I have buttons for my fan speed instead of the knobs. My air is stuck on high and won’t change at all. I’ve even tried with voice control. Cool/heat work just fine.
yep, exactly. Stays on high fan speed regardless of the level I adjust it to. Advanced Auto recommended a BWD blower motor resistor that looks a little different than the one shown in the video. Since the lariat temperature is controlled to the degree, not just different cool levels. I'll give it a shot, thanks for the help!
Ian Bordes did it work for you? I’m having the issue of my blower working great for a while then I’ll get in the truck and it won’t do anything then it will magically come back... thanks
I have a 2007mercury Monterey that when l am parked at a red light the temperature gauge shoots up and the ac blows nothing but hot air . Can you help me
I have auto/digitally set A/C. Randomly went out all at once. Nothing turns on. I know the part wouldn't be compatible but do you think it's the same issue or more likely the blower?
Jordan Weir If it doesn’t come on at all it may be the blower but in the recent comments on here a guy just wiggled the plug where the resister is and it started working again.
@@jwaddle12844 my truck did the same exact thing however, if you reach your hand and wiggle the wires it should begin to work. My 2014 F150 did same thing. Move it than give it a second or two you may need to have patience as you wiggle lol
I'm having a similar problem, I have heat and cool air coming from my vents, and on speed 1 and 2 it doesn't feel like air is coming out. However when I run it on 3 and 4 it comes out anywhere from 30 seconds to 1 minute, then it slowly dies, what could be the issue?
I have the same problem and I replaced the resister. After replacing the resister it seemed to repair the issue. The next day I want out and I had the same problem as before.
Check the plug, and resistor for any signs of melted plastic. That means your fan motor is drawing too much current. You would need to change fan motor, resistor, and plug if it's melted too.
@@southkerr6267 unfortunately you'll probably have to change the fan motor, resistor, and plug. Pull the resistor plug and see if it's melted around the pins, it's more than likely where the burnt smell is coming from.
