Thanks man 5 years after this video and you are still saving people money? Amazon link is out of stock maybe you can set up another one so you can make a few pennies. Thanks again!
Just disconnected and reconnected it and it worked great again! I'll still need to get the part replaced but I don't need to drive around in the Texas summer without AC anymore. THANK YOU for posting this!!
This dude a legend, about purchased a blower but played with the resistor as he suggested, and it worked. Will have to replace the resistor, appreciated!
I just replaced my Blower Motor Resistor and it works perfect now. I have all fan speeds and everything. When I watched videos of replacing this part they all showed corroded and burnt metal but mine looked like it was in perfect condition. I was afraid replacing it wouldn’t fix it but it did and I’m really happy about it👍🏼
Thanks, this happened to me in 95 degree heat yesterday, watched your video, jiggled the harness, and boom, Air Conditioner comes on. Now for a more permanent fix.
Thanks for the video I had the same problem called my mechanic and he said that my blower motor needed to be changed. I was noticing that the ac would turn off and on then I saw your video and sure enough it wasn't the blower but the connection. Awesome for your help. God bless
Huge thanks, sure as hell shook the connector and it came right back on. Did the standard check the fuse and check the relay to no avail. I was actually on RU-vid looking to replace the blower motor when I came across your video. Thanks for sharing.
You are the man!!! Ac stopped working last night.. I was lucky to find your video in 5 minutes, this did the trick! I went out and moved the resister and it kicked right on! Thought this was going to take me all day. Thanks for the knowledge.
We are on vacation in Glacier National Park but is Texas heat. The jiggling gave us back a/c. You provided a clear and easy answer. Thank you sooooo much
I have 2013 platinum....having blower problems...replaced the resistors 2 times....failed...Then, I installed the old one did not work. Then, I disconnected the battery & checked. Wow....it worked. It's like resetting the computer!
Awesome video man.. life saver.. this texas heat is murder. I replaced my resistor, continued having issues. I will be replacing the female connectors next. Thanks again
Hey thanks for the tip here Minnesota it's -9 degrees best time for it to malfunction early in the morning when I have to be at work drove to work 15 minutes with no heat it sucked went outside and wiggled the harness and it worked ordered parts hopefully it runs until the part comes in
Very helpful to include the link on where to order the part. A big THANK YOU for covering everything all the way around from instruction to where to get the parts!
Wow man great video. Thank you so much for posting this. North Dakota winter just hit hard and our first day below freezing my blower completely goes out on me. I was worried I would have to pay outrageous shop prices to get it fixed, but I went and shook my harness and it started right up. I'll use your tutorial to finish doing it right in the next couple weeks.
Thank you for sharing! Our blower kept going out and randomly working. It’s 90 plus here in Alabama in afternoon 🥵. Just checked and ours is burnt up! Getting parts tomorrow
Thank you, helped me. That glove box comes out with a few screws so you can see what your doing. I Used heat shrink over my wire connections. I love how that cheap weak kick plate covers the damn BCM and every important harness and mini fuse in the cab. so every person that gets in the truck presses their weight into it as they enter that side. Shame on you Ford, bad form.
My truck is doing the exact same thing and it started during a storm on my to work. Thanks for the video. Just gotta figure out why my back window and mirror defrost doesn’t work
Just an fyi... the burning of the terminal could be caused by a higher amp draw which is caused by faulty motor bearings/bushings. I just changed my resistor and it's still going on and off. Great video though.
Local ford dealer wanted $110 just for the blower motor. Auto parts stores wanted over $80 and I ordered 1 off rock auto for $70. Now I have to check the wiring harness
Clearly this is a defect in design to be happening on so many vehicles of various manufacturers. My 2015 Ford Expedition has the same problem. If you feel the harness when running for a while, it gets burning hot and I'm not exaggerating. I can only guess that it's design flaw causing a poor connection, or undersized wires, or the blower pulls too much current as it ages, which in turn melts the connector. Any or all of these issues can certainly be corrected with proper engineering. For example, I would bet Toyota has found a solution to this "problem". Come on Ford - do better. Are you telling me that you're stuck with this design? Frankly, I call B.S....
When I turn on the blower I've been noticing the smell of burnt plastic coming through the vents. I have done some researching on line and several people say it is the resistor. looking for help on this issue. Thanks
You could have took the glove box off by just leaving it latched and unscrewing the bottom hand then clipping it out laying it to the left and pulling it straight out and it would have been out of your way
Nice video! By the way do you think this would fix my problem, my climate control won't turn off! It stays on all the time so I was wondering if this would fix it?
I noticed today my blower is only working on medium speed no matter what I have selected , all zones work fine , but the kicker is, when I turn the power button off the blower stays on and it changes to defrost by itself and blows cold air , with the unit completely off ? !
I bought the same part # 973-506, and installed the new plug and new resistor. After installing the new hardware, the fan goes on for a minute then goes off. It repeats this in a fairly consistent manner. I called dorman and they told me i have the wrong part # and said i needed 973-444. He said the difference is the -444 is for manual temperature control while the -506 is for Auto Temp control (MTC vs ATC). Appearance wise, the -444 only has one aluminum blade sticking out the back of the unit while the -506 has 4 aluminum blades. Does any know how to tell if my truck is ATC vs MTC? Or has had similiar issues? My truck is 2014 f150 fx4 and the original resistor that came out of it matches the appearance of the -506 dorman part.
There is (or should be) a clip holding it in, but maybe it had already been snapped off, hence the tape. Even if the clips broke its no big deal. It should stay in place on its own, but a little duct tape is the cure all for lotsa shit
Hi brother, you did change 2 parts right ? Can you but the link of them on amazon please I got the same problem with my 2013 f150 The Ac on and off , on and off while the Ac on It doesn’t work well
I just did a search for recalls on 2014 f150 and found nothing. I have the same issue. One melted pin on the resistor and loose pig tail. What am I missing?
Dorman 973-506 Blower Motor Resistor Kit with Harness www.amazon.com/dp/B01ID2HKPY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_05bdDbJZHTJE8 This is the one I bought. Worked good for me. Best deal I found. Dorman is good for aftermarket parts.
Is that switch automatic or manual you never give us a straight answer. All you say is that he gives you the wrong part and you don't specify whether it's automatic or manual?
A lower fuse would just blow. But really it's just a lot of amperage on a small wire and connector. Basically they don't make it well enough for what it's used for.
