Back in the 80s we picked up a Camaro for $400. It had a blown head and head gasket. We got another used head and a new set of head and exhaust gaskets and took the heads off. The pistons were spotless! The antifreeze had broken loose the rust and sludge and whatever else stuck to the pistons and blew it out the exhaust. We replaced the gaskets and put her back together and sold the car for a lot more than $400. That was an easy fix that only cost about $130 to fix back then That was a sweet 1981 Camaro too, and I was wishing I could've bought it but I didn't have the money. Too bad cuz I would've had that car a long time. It was in pristine condition and would've lasted me a long time. And back in those days we went through cars like nobody's business.🥴
If the hg floods the cylinder eventually when the engine sits for s while, it will bend the crank. It's maybe called hydrolocking, when the fluid does not compress and the pressure forces are so huge it will bend. Its not common but definitely plausible.
That’s exactly what my Prius looks like right now . I just removed the cylinder head to replace the gasket. Piston 1 is just a hair (.5 mm to 1mm) lower than piston 4. Poop!
a lot of people dont know they have a blown head gasket though...sometimes the symptoms arent that bad or intermittent or similar to symptoms of other problems
Dudes why do I have oil in spark plug bay...I'm about to change out all gaskets in hopes that that will fix that problem..any one with good info help a brother out.its an 02 dodge ram 1500 4.7.
There'su little O-rings at the bottom of the spark plug tubes. On some engines, they are integrated with and actually part of the valve cover gasket. They leak and fill the spark plug well with oil. Usually the leak is slow. Remove the plug and let the oil drop down into the engine. It might not fill up with oil and start misfiring for years.
Please do show that picture,because no 2 pistons should be flush at the same time on a 4cyl. One may be,but the other that is up,should be slightly above or below. Rotate the crank,it will reach flush

Just a 🤡 And with that being a 4 cyl, 1 and 4 would both be at the top, the 2 and 3 would be when spun over 180. 2 pistons at the top same time, valve timing dictates which one is compression or exhaust You are the problem with the world. @@boostdkid401and that piston will never be up because the rod is bent evidenced by the tech with knowledge who showed it with a protrusion test. A very very valid test. But u didn't learn did you? No, u wanted to argue with an opinion that is worthless. Why? U see now u can look at that pic and easily tell some one that rod is bent. They could pull it out and think u were superman with x ray vision and ask how did u know. It would be knowledge. Learn from those with experience don't argue or u will never become a man

I have never heard of a mechanic that would change one connecting rod, usually they tell you an entire motor for this. Isn’t it too much of a liability after that?
Four cylinder engine has the two center pistons at bdc when the outer two has pistons at tdc. Bdc meaning bottom dead centre, and tdc meaning top dead centre.
The crank is already at Top Dead Center. Which means thats as far as it goes. (Cylinder 1 and 4 are synchronized. Just like 2 and 3 are) if one piston at max its pair should be as well Tell me you know nothing about engine maintenance, without telling me you know nothing about engine maintenance 🤦♂️
Yoooo so why is you talking about a blown head gasket as the problem but only elaborate on a bent rod how is both correlating to each other ? This video dont explain anything
