a lot of people seem to miss the fact this was built as a burnout car, he doesn't care about getting every single bit of efficiency or smoothness out of it, it's just meant to be good at burnouts

Why did it take me 6 years to find this video? That's crazy!

The surge is caused by an improperly adjusted barrel valve on the injector hat. Shorten the turnbuckle on the left side of the injector approx. 1/2 turn and the idle will settle to a steady cadence. The idle adjustment has no affect on wide open throttle operation. Some people think it's so cool but as you can see it isn't very controllable.

For anyone wondering why this guy keeps slipping his tires instead of just backing into the spot normally, here's my understanding; He's running mechanical fuel injection as evident from the barrel valve and fuel lines under the scoop. MFI is great for strip applications because it essentially turns the pas pedal into a light switch. When it's "off", the engine is injected with just enough fuel to idle. When it's "on", it's at wide open throttle. There's no partial throttle, it's all or nothing -- even a feather's touch on the pedal fully opens the fuel line and spins his tires. This also explains why the butterflies are barely cracked open when he's going down the lane at the end.

That last couple of seconds tells the story! That baby will run!! Sweet!
