Sort of unrelated to the review but you're the only person I know who hates on an entire set of instruments. You be hating on strings just because. Haha! It's all good but it be making me laugh. Those 38 Spesh beats be slapping even with the strings.
Lmaoo the backstory behind that is in the late 2000s, underground rappers straight up ran that sound into the ground. In the height of the “underground rappers pick terrible beats” era, it felt like half of the beats were generic sounding strings or synths over generic 909 drums. IMO, it also wayyyy easier create a melody with synths or strings that pretty much every other instrument which is why I think they ran it into the ground. But it’s only a certain type of strings tho. Westside Gunn’s “lunchin” and “kitchen lights” are 2 of his best beats and they’re string samples. But those strings sounds like an actual orchestra arrangement. The once I hate on sound like something that came stock on fruity loops 😂😂😂
@@BSideRapReviews I feel you on that and I totally agree. I actually feel that synths on Euphoria sound like shit. But if you criticize that song in any way in the wrong place, might be a wrap for me.
@@zach.suth3 reaction otw!! JPEGMAFIA prob my fav rapper right now (it’s either him or Mach) but my wife happened to go in labor the same day that album dropped. But I ain’t forget tho! I won’t spoil my thoughts yet
42 here and same with me, mostly only listen to albums. I do feel like I should start a playlist for the one off songs that are dope like all the ones that Cole features on. You know?!
@@dylancaruso Preciate you tapping in! Yeah bro dope 2024 for blu. Blu work ethic since he let his label tells you all you need to know about major labels lol. I remember when he hit his prime and could barely get a single project out smh.
@@BSideRapReviews I’m with you. I’ve liked both Rome Singals tho I don’t really care for Sage. I really like Starbucks tho it’s not anything crazy. I’m hoping the Conway feature is good bc he’s been awful lately. He was very underwhelming on chaos 2 with Ran and the Al feature was buns
I really liked this album! I agree some of those singing hooks aren’t it lol, but I thought Blu rapped his ass off and the beats were fire. Speaking of Elzhi, The Preface finally released on streaming! I feel like a breakdown of that album from you would be interesting, if you ever get the extra time of course. But yeah, keep up the great album reactions and analysis!! Nobody on RU-vid does breakdowns quite like you do!
Right. We can all debate on who the best lyricist out of Wu is but one thing we can’t dispute that Ghost by far is the overall best member. Ghost carried Wu for some time. Still the greatest group
@@hueyhoopin Preciate you dawg! This gon sound off but I hate uga - ive (unfortunately) been a ga Tech fan my whole life lol. But regardless, I got Bama taking it in a thriller
I was with you til "in the convo for best rapper of the early 2000s. Blu is dope, but.... stop it fam! lol ..still glad you reviewed this. will def circle back to this when I get a chance
@@Doctor_Beats off the top of my head... Sean Price, Blk Thought, ..like half the Wu - Hell Razah, Killah Priest, Masta Killa, Ghostface, Timbo King.. Deltron 3030 ..and of course DOOM.
@@tallgodheru7397 oh sure, if we’re going all time MCs, Blu is not #1. That wasn’t the way I interpreted “best rapper of the early 2000s”, I’m only thinking of people that were “XXL Freshman” eligible at the time.
@@Doctor_Beats i'm specifically talking about music that was made from 2000-2010, not all-time. Reducing it to the freshman class of a mainstream hip-hop publication is moving the goal posts like a m'fa lol. XXL lists are irrelevant to me. I'm only interested in the best music of an era, period.
@@tallgodheru7397 I didn’t mean literal XXL Freshmen artists, the lists are irrelevant to me too, I was using that as a way of saying “artists just starting to make waves in hip hop” at the time of the early 2000s.
