It’s pretty horrible that someone would sell you a horse like this knowing he was for a child to ride😢 on the other hand, he is so lucky to end up in a caring home like yours.
I’m on the fence if the person who sold us Blue actually knew. But I do recognize the horse world can be cruel. But he’s a good boy and very willing. And the knowledge and the relationships we gained from the whole experience was worth more than anything!!
I mean they could of got the horse vetted before buying? That's normal where I am, any horse you want to buy 6ou get a vet to examine them over for issues like this
@ajc7295 there's a high chance the old owner didn't know given the horse in the ridden video didn't look drugged. And didn't show any sighs, so no, the old owner isn't in the wrong, they should of got the horse vetted before buying
What an awesome child raised by amazing parents who are teaching her the true responsibilities of horse ownership. And the end results of the patience, time and efforts that went into the process. Truly beautiful❤
I am not a fan of barrel racing. But this isn't about that. I agree whole heartedly with this comment. What an incredible dedication she has to her horse and that bond really comes when you take your time and focus on what the horse needs, not what you want. This young lady will grow up to teach the same patience, understanding of pain signals and distress, and I hope Blue enjoys his journey through running barrels. He is In a position now where he wants to please her. They are a true team and even if the barrels don't work in his favor in the long run, there are a thousand things to choose from as a young rider. I also want to comment on her riding ability. She's wearing a helmet and that's the most important thing I see, but her heels are down, her leg is still, she sits the trot in a balanced and comfortable manner without bouncing all over like a sack of potatoes. Many riders are unwilling to take the kind of time necessary with their horses to ever manage to reach that intensity in the bond she has with Blue. My issue with barrel racing is that I see the complete opposite more times than not with horses showing clear discomfort, ill fitting tack, very poor riding, and being ridden by riders bouncing on their horses' backs and with big rolling spurs, starfish kicking and going full steam ahead the horses without being balanced in the least. So bravo to Beluga Girl and Blue and congratulations on all you've both learned from one another and the brilliant trusting friendship and loving bond you two will share now and for many years to come. I also see a very bright future in your riding as well as the patience and love that began with this beautiful best friend. You have a lot to teach other riders your age! Great job
you did absolutely amazing sticking by the vet's schedule and making sure blue was pain free. the saddle switch definitely would have helped as well. thank you for not giving up on him, he's a beautiful, amazing horse. i've never seen one that was literally blue before either lol
Thank you so much!! We are so proud of Beluga Girl’s hard work and patience. There is no way she would have ever given up on him. He is an absolute amazing horse and we had never seen those unique colors either!!
So refreshing to see someone with strong morals and commitment to an animal who has a problem. You’re right, all the groundwork your daughter had to do with him has strengthened their bond. He will take good care of her for you. Animals recognize and get bonded to people who have helped them. Count me in as a new subscriber.
Aww thank you so much for those kind words!!! You are 💯 correct about him taking care of her. They did their first parade together this weekend. There were some very tense moments and they kept it together. Thank you for the Sub and welcome!! 😊
He was moving so well at the end , going around the barrels. You can be very proud of yourselves for what you all have accomplished. I’m impressed with your vet’s advice.
Yes he was and he continues to do better. We can’t wait to share his pole bending with y’all 😊. Thank you so much we could be more proud of our girls and Blue. We are blessed to have such an awesome medical team close by!!
Wow ! I’m impressed with how well you followed vets orders and that really paid of in more than one way !! Obviously the horse is pain free but the bond with the little girl is so special to see ! Thanks for sharing and caring for your horse the correct way !!! ❤️🐴❤️💯
Thank you!! It amazes me when I keep hearing that people don’t follow the vets orders. The Vet himself was surprised we followed his rehab program. Yes pain free was the goal but their relationship was the prize!!
How many "problem" horses like this end up in the slaughter pipeline because people weren't willing to put in the time and effort to help them overcome their physical and behavioral issues? Good for you for sticking it out until he was healed. I'm so proud of your little girl and her best friend Blue.
It saddens us that our disposable culture has made its way to the animal world. We will never give up on our guys. Their lives are all very special to us. Thank you!! We are so proud of them as well!!
Warning bells went off in the first couple of seconds watching this video. This horse had his sheath hanging out. Sure sign that this horse was given ace to make sure he stays quiet when perspective buys come to look at him.
Thank you so much for pointing this out to us. We reviewed all of his riding from the first day and all of his riding since he arrived home and in none of the home videos was anything hanging out. We are lucky we didn’t get hurt. I’m glad things worked out in the end, he is such a sweet boy now.
What a great job.. this young lady is a great little horse trainer..You could easily see the end result of all,her hard work.. He was moving like a different horse..His lope was smooth and forward,no tail swishing, and not crooked. Much happier horse…❤
Thank you!! We are so proud of our girls!! What’s funny is over the course of that training we knew he was improving, but I was absolutely floored at how far we had come when I was editing the footage. He is so graceful and just lopes with no effort. We love watching him work and enjoy his relationship with his girl!!
It's truly wonderful to see a horse that is so loved when we've all seen the horrors inflicted on horses for so long & tragically, are still going on, all over the world! It's unforgivable what some people do to horses. BLUE IS UNDOUBTEDLY A VERY LUCKY, WELL LOVE HORSE!
It’s so sad what we see being done to horses. We are very new to the horses and didn’t even know. We are so happy to have blue and we absolutely love him!! Thank you for the kind words!!
You didn’t label this horse as a bad horse or a problem horse because of his behavioral issues, you looked past that to the root cause which was pain. You worked with this horse to rehabilitate him. You are a hero! Neck pain is no joke no matter whether you are a horse or a human. It’s enough to make anyone grumpy and snappy. I’m so happy for you and for this horse that there was such a good outcome!
Thank you for the kind words!! This may sound stupid but you could just look into his eyes and see he was a kind soul. We went with our gut and believed in him. In the end we all came out as winners!!
Thank you for this! What an amazing young lady and a fantastic horse! I will be doing full X-Rays on my new mare. She has the kindest soul but you can tell something is “off” and she acts just like Blue did…I took her to the vet once and she was cleared for riding but no X-rays were done and no suggestions on building her top line..which I noticed needed to be addressed. Kudo’s to Blue’s vet for such awesome instructions and by posting this your helping me and my mare…I am going to adhere to your vets suggestion for my mare and get her back to the vets and request those X-rays.
Oh wow thank you so much for this comment. You have made our family’s day!! We are very new to the horse world and we find that there’s not a lot of guidance out there. We are so happy that our video was able to steer you in the right direction. Good luck on your journey!!
Moral of this story....if your child begs you for a horse and you can afford it...get em one...( and lessons etc.) owning a horse I think is one of the best things for a child. They get a best friend, get outside, learn a lot about responsibility and have a wonderful hobby for life.
I love that you and your daughter got Blue the help he needed. In doing that, you taught your daughter the true responsibility of horsemanship. To care for the horse before yourself.
Your daughter is adorable and so mature. She was following the rules for her horse which said to Blue, she loves me. ❤ May they have many years together.
You guys are doing amazing with your beautiful little girl!! She is going to be a top notch equestrian. I started at 7 with my first. Unfortunately my folks divorced when i was 19 and I had to sacrifice all my animals. Im 50 now, and want to get back into riding more than anything. This is a blessed life and im so happy to see young people taking on the full responsibility of their animals. Great job all of you!!
Love the girl, love the dad, love the horese! Im so happy to see people find out why horses act out instead of selling them to unlive or someone that will hurt them not knowing they are hurting and just asking for help. Thank you!
Love their Story! Made me want to cry! W hat a love story. They worked so hard for each other the parents the Dr. ❤❤and they all lived happily ever after!
A great story of learning patience, kindness, discipline, and building a bond - for both of them! Stretches before and after a ride are always a good idea! May you and Blue have many years of fun together! ❤
What a wonderful family and beautiful horse. Such patience in your daughter. And her level of empathy for Blue is incredible. I agree 100% that you continue with Blues stretches. He is training to be an athlete, and athletes warm up and cool down, just as your vet suggested for Blue. It makes perfect sense to include the stretches before even just a trail ride or a walk around the arena. Especially if the horse in question is kept in a stall. Its very clear to me that you have an amazing vet. Good luck to your daughter and her beautiful boy in their future together ❤️
Thank you for the kind and encouraging words. We agree 100%!! Luckly none of our horse are stalled. We do indeed have a wonderful vet!! We really appreciate your comments 😊
What I loved about Blue's story so far is that it seems he's got people that truly care about his wellbeing and are not in a rush to "just ride". Teaching these children, the patience and effort it takes to really care for an animal is the foundation of a great ongoing relationship. So many people, both children and adults, want immediate gratification and don't want to put in the work required. Congratulations on the improvements in Blue and I look forward to his continued journey.
Thank you so much for the kind words!! We do very much love blue and all of our animals as well. Their wellbeing comes first. We are so proud of our girls because they will be the first to call off a ride because something is off. We look forward to sharing his journey with y’all!!
Do you think he was maybe sedated for that first ride or that it was just bad timing and he developed his issues between then and him coming home? I’m not sure how long that interval was though! I’ve unfortunately heard a lot of stories of people sedating painful horses they were trying to sell in order to pass responsibility for solving that pain onto the new owners :(. Either way, I’m glad he ended up in a loving home that was capable and willing to work with him and get him feeling good. Your daughter works wonderfully with him!
We really don’t know, some have suggested he was sedated. We’d rather not place blame where we don’t have any proof. I’m glad we took him home the experience as a whole was worth every penny spent on him. And now we have an amazing young horse!! Thank you so much for your kind words!!
Thank you!! We are extremely proud of them!! Catching these signs early prevented huge issues down the road (quoting the doctor). My girls have such close relationships with their horses they know when something is off and address the issue immediately. Even if it means they can’t ride for a while.
Thank you!! And yes chiropractors do amazing things!! Our older mayor Sally had a cronic limp and a Chiro took care of it for us. She hasn’t limped since!!
Thankyou for this wonderful video. Thankyou all for loving and taking time to really care for this wonderful horse. Tour saughter reminds me, of me, at that age. Im 66 years old now and have been riding all these years. Your daughter has the same dedication and passion. She is already an excellent horse lady fod bless you all. Also very impressed with vets guidance and the way you all dollowed the schedule. Many wonderful horse years ahead!!!
Thank you so much for the kind words!! He is an amazing boy and we love him very much!! It makes us happy to hear such high praise from such an accomplished rider as yourself!! We do love our vet and we agree that this wouldn’t have turned out the same without him!!
One if the buyer tricks I learned when buying horses for clients was to always arrive at least 40 minutes early. My guess is thus horse was on pain meds when you test rode him. Sadly I have caught seller's doping horses for sale, although not many times. I do recommend that horses with spine issues be ridden in a deep sear English or Australia saddle as they are much easier on a hirse with a sensitive back. Looks like you have a happy ending fir Blue.
This horse got super lucky that he went to people who would notice signs of pain and be willing to do the hard work. This could have ended badly for this horse in different hands.
Thank you so much for the kind words. But we are the lucky ones 😊. I just don’t wanna think what would have happened to him in someone else’s hands. He’s a very special boy and when let’s you in he gives it all!!
We didn’t even know that was a thing until we started owning horses. It make our hearts sad that this would happen to such magnificent animals. We are happy blue will be able to live is best life being cared for by three loving little girls!!
he truly is a beautiful horse, his coat pattern looks like he is a pastel blue and I can see why your daughter loves him so much, however I still can't wrap my mind around the fact that someone would sell you a horse that is in pain and has aggression, maybe they didn't wanna deal with him anymore however it's their lost and your daughter's gain. However I commend you and your daughter for not giving up on Blue. You took things down and started working to get his feeling better. I wish your daughter and Blue the best of years to come with each other.
Thank you!! We absolutely adore him 😊. Yeah they were supposedly selling this horse on behalf of someone else. I want to give them the benefit of the doubt that they didn’t know anything. But from what I’ve quickly learned that buying horses can be very tricky.
WOW she is an amazing rider for such a young girl. I wish i was that confident and settled as a rider back then. They look gorgeous together. Hopefully many happy years togather. I love blue roans aswell.
I LOVE she knows how to hold a lead rope. I see "pro's" with them coiled around their hand... I LOVE she wears a helmet. Might she add gloves while lunging? Great girls, great teaching
Thank you!! She had a very good teacher that drilled those things into her. Helmets are a must around here. Even I wear a helmet!! Thank you so much for the glove suggestion!!
Getting a proper saddle fit that would also help a lot ❤ but idk I'm still learning about them but I heard kissing spine is caused by ill fitting saddles But your new saddle looks really nice Didn't see that earlier but that horse is so beautiful He is down right gorgeous Really pretty Gelding
Thank you!!! We are just learning as well!! Such an amazing journey so far!! Yes he is absolutely gorgeous and I don’t think I’ve ever seen another like him!!
Thank you so much!! We are too!! Blue is totally worth it!! His papers say grey paint but during the summer and when he’s wet the darker patches look more blue.
Well there's a little horsewoman for ya. Both girls ride so well! I have never seen a pinto-skinned all grey horse in my life !! He is so unique. Is there a proper colour name for this?
Thank you so much!! We are so proud of them!!! We had never seen this couple either, but then again we are really new to horses. Someone called him a grey paint. 🤷♂️
What an amazing journey! Glad to see he gealed up and turned out healthy and happy. I do have a question? Is his colour ACTUALLY that light sky blue in person? I've never heard or of or seen that before!
Thank you!! It was a journey indeed!!! Yes it is but from what we can tell it’s only like that in the summer time. His winter coat turns him white. We had never seen that color either. But then again we are super new to horses.
unfortunately your story isnt an uncommon one, but good for y'all looking into his behavior, understanding where it's coming from, and addressing the issues. kiddo has a best buddy for life and skills to handle similar situations in the future that so many people these days lack
Since posting this video I’ve learn that this is all to common. It makes my heart heavy that Blue could have gone somewhere where he could have gotten hurt or killed. We all love him very much!! Thank you for the kind and encouraging words 😊
She rode him a hour the first time... How long with a bad fitting saddle? I tried a new saddle on my gal and it make my gal very sore..for a while and mad.. it; pinched the girth area.. took her a few weeks to recover.
He was ridden a second time with the poor fitting saddle. That’s when we noticed the agitation. We are extremely new to horses and since the Blue fiasco we have built up a major support system. His second saddle we had fitted to him so we ruled out that. Also we gave him a week off to recover before we rode with the new saddle. The pain came back instantly.
Lol yes!! It was a Halloween dress up day at drill team practice and they were playing Halloween music in the arena. If you notice Beluga girl was dressed as a horse in that clip lol.
It’s a group of muscles that run along a horses back that support the spine. So a weak top line could lead to spinal compression issues as we saw in the X-rays.
