They are at MCAS Beaufort every other year at the air show held there in the Spring. Only an hour and a half from Charleston, come on down!

Last time I saw them they were flying A4 Skyhawks.

I too was in 75-79. AE on A-7's out of Lemoore CA. Made the last cruise of CV-42 The FDR , (THE ROSIE) a med cruise 76-77. VA-215 Barnowls the last of the A&B models. Then to VA-94 (C&E) model A-7's and caught the first part of a west pac before getting out in August halfway through the cruise, but we were beach det in Olongapo so I just made the ride over, Hawaii, Guam, and Subic/Olongapo . Great times, great buddies and a great education in life. Fair winds and following seas to you shipmate

I was driving through the Scottish highlands some years ago and was startled to see a red aircraft blasting across the terrain just a few yards off the ground right over my car. That was my first glimpse of the Red Arrows. Very memorable for a Yank like me.

Pilot error. Made his split S turn and went inverted. He did this 300 feet to low resulting in not enough space before the plane hit the ground. He did eject, but he was too low and the fireball destroyed his chute. As always in a crash, there's is more to it, but that is the basics.

The first time I had ever seen them was at Oceana in 1981, when I was in Operations Specialist A School in Dam Neck. I saw them a few months later when I reported to the reserve destroyer Robert A Owens (DD 827) in Pensacola . The only other ship ported in Pensacola at the time was the USS Lexington, being used as the training aircraft carrier. I spent 2 weeks on Lady Lex. It was great watching the A6s and A7s

So much for promoting military aviation in the stunt team way. Some say its a waste of manpower, mechanics, and operational needs but in the end one can dream of fighting one of these pilots for real.
