People completely miss how Declan Rice got into the West Ham team, released from Chelsea as a youngster and was never considered one of the best even at West Ham. If you read about it, you'd understand why he wouldn't take the piss, he has a lot of friends at the London Stadium and people who helped him and gave him a chance to be where he is and the fans always backed him even when he was young breaking into the team. There's a reason he has got to where he is, he's a top lad and a quality footballer and being respectful is part of his nature and makes him a good leader.

Blue cards will completely ruin the game. Any time the ref shows a yellow card to someone, VAR will have to check and confirm the decision and slow the game down even more. Such a bad idea.

Need to keep Robbo on this , watch it every week without fail and he’s a good watch 👏🏻 arsenal was good on Sunday but that’s the worse I’ve ever seen West Ham shockingly pathetic performance. Maguire criticism from media is a joke , scape goat. Rashford picking up more wages not doing he’s job proper and going out on the lash missing training time the media called him out , no free passes cause he does a bit of charity work.

well i assume they would just be out of the rest of the game. The idea is to improve discipline and punish 'tactical' fouls. If players keep their mouths shut, it becomes a non issue.

Regarding blue cards. I don’t think it solves anything but I like the willingness to change the game. Everyone seems to have a “don’t change our game” mentality- even with smaller things like 3 to 5 substitutions. I don’t think the current referees actually have as much freedom as people assume. If they started carding players for any kind of descent or complaining about decisions they would be slated for ruining the game, being corrupt and fixing the game so whichever team won, won. I would personally like to see that. Start of the season you make it clear it’s a complete crackdown, captains only to query decisions politely, yellow card for anyone else. After 1-2 game weeks and a team losing a game that was effected by that, all the players will stop.

Great show guys, keep Goldbridge away more often lol, kidding love Mark. On the Blue card debate. Firstly red and yellow make orange not blue, so that would be cooler. But my question, isn't a yellow a form of being sin binned anyway? Players who play aggressively have to be careful on a yellow anyway, this as you said will turn it into a 3hr game. My fear is a stop clock next, this should never happen, and we should be allowed to point and laugh at the person who thought of it

The issue we have is you don’t get a yellow for decent when you should, like rugby it should be instant. We wouldn’t have this problem of blue cards if players actually showed respect to the ref like every other sport. But no they swear at the ref 24/7 and show no respect what so ever. Whatever decision is final unless pulled back end of like every other sport.

Why would blue cards make the game last longer? I'm not sure I get these objections tbh. When someone makes a really obvious foul on the halfway line that does basically stop a goal scoring opportunity I think they should get a sin bin. Some of the fouls you see are so bad and deserve more than a yellow.

Why do they think a card that would stop cynical fouls will slow the game down? Professional fouls are designed to slow the game down... so a card to stop this is somehow gonna slow it down?

Yes, if you do a "professional foul" that stops a 2v1 counter attack a yellow card is way too soft a punishment. There’s a reason why footballers so easily do these fouls, because the punishment doesn’t answer the foul. However if you get put on the sideline for 10 minutes (in addition to the yellow card) then you have a much greater punishment to cobsider, which is worse? 10men for 10 minutes or a potential goal chance against you? Oh, they should add diving to the list of things that gets you sent into the timeout bin.

What does everyone think about the blue card? I understand people think it will over complicate things even further. I can see that happening. But! I will admit for the last few years ive been calling for it, too many times players can make really cynical fouls and a yellow definitely isnt enough.

I understand the links between Liverpool and Alonso. But don't discount Bayern swooping in and taking him for themselves. He used to play for them as well, and Bayern are known to cherry pick the best talent throughout Germany.

Regarding pauses for players: What about hockey and handball players? Also regarding blue cards: If implemented it should be timed pitch penalties monitored by 4th official or an added 5th. Btw I hate the idea but it will come as certain as a twats opinion to my argument..

The takes about blue cards have real old man yelling at cloud vibes. Blue cards would introduce a punishment that has a real effect on the game without making it permanent, for all of those cases where a player does something bad but the referee doesn't want to turn the game entirely on its head (like a cynical foul or dissent). I don't think it's a no-brainer but to say it's just to stir things up or pretend there is no benefit to it is silly.

I think everyone is missing the point of blue cards. It's been brought in at grass roots to protect refs who get paid peanuts (or nothing) and cop abuse from the players. The trial has been working as intended and will hopefully keep more refs in the game. I also wish they'd empower refs like they do in rugby, but as other people have pointed out, they'll get blasted for giving out too many cards and changing results. Unfortunately a cultural change like this will take time. Rather than having a go at the refs and lawmakers, shouldn't we put some blame on the players? Blue cards would only come into play if they're doing the wrong thing. Just like games last longer now because they time waste. All the blame is being placed on the refs and lawmakers when they're actively trying to keep the product exciting, while the players have no care or accountability. They still get their pay check even if they spend half the game wasting time
