Just so you guys know at 1:52 that person that messed up on that part was Everett Kim and he wasn’t in his spot at that part because he didn’t have his glasses on and of course he learned his lesson.😆
TkG GummyWorm you're taught to fix mistakes slowly so that you don't stick out. which is why the correction was so subtle. He was probably just thinking about how to get back to his spot without making it too obvious.
I wasn't a huge fan of this one at the beginning fo the season. But the way it's evolving is incredible. The sounds they are producing are spectacular. Not a BD fan but wow.
So I got to see this live. I stand by my original thoughts of not liking the visual part of the show but damn, but live that hornline is indescribably. Absolutely incredible.
The horn line and Flight of the Bumblebee is *much* improved since the Stanford Show, and some bits are starting to sound pretty clean, but that first group after the soloist is still *very* muddy. If they can do this 100% clean in Finals, they have a fantastic chance of winning.
Glad to hear some of the songs sounding a little like a ballad than just classical works. Made me want to slow dance at 6:50 mark. I LOVE IT....PERIOD. And that blues feel at the end.......
I like the blue devils. I love the sound and visuals of drum and bugle corps. It is some the toughest performances a musician can do, in the world. Even the best musicians in the world cannot perform like this. This video does not do it justice, you have to be there.
Never been a BD fan but the very first time I saw this show, even early in the season, I knew that was it. Winner DCI. It was just a question of where everyone else would place. Amazing program
that ballad is the colorguard feature of the year imo, and every video has people zooming in on the soloist/brass. :( but also thank you for this video :)
being an old school fan I kinda like the old school approach Carolina and Boston adopted this year...basic drill and minimal props..case to be made for the Vanguard this year to
ser can you give some of your instrument's to santolan brass band in the philipines. aks your help for santolan brass band in pasig city manila philipines give some of your instrument first of all in perc
The guard equipment work is really clean....and it SHOULD be considering they're either standing still or marching an 8-to-5 step for over half the show. The same goes for the brass line. There's a lot of standing in one place while playing the difficult runs, etc. I don't like how drill is no longer really "a thing" in DCI. They feel more like stage shows that just happen to be done on a football field. It's not really my cup of tea, but times change, I guess.
I really think it's just BD that's like this, or at least that's the impression I get after watching their recent shows compared to other corps' shows.
Hello Dean! I totally agree with you how dci has become more about doing a show, and less about marching which is the roots of what drum corps is. Yes the art keeps evolving, but I'd like to see more of both instead of just the showy stuff... to stand and kill-it, and blow us away with the amazing brass sounds. But until that balance comes back into center, this kind of drill amd show style, with this kind of musical abilities, will simply win it every time.
Blue's Clues for Fools That's a FANTASTIC MARCHING BAND joke right? I was in a marching(snare drum)and had fun, but my band director(Santa Clara Vanguard pit percussion 85-88)gave us a sample of scv 1988(none of the crap marching band international is currently knee deep in)and I was intrigued with that G bugle sound and non electric/no marching band/sampled audio files Jerry Seawright envisioned.
This show has SO MANY strong parts in it! The 16 Snares are unique, the synth/tech is unique, the trombone feature is incredible! Lots of insane jazz rippin'!! But it's not held together well. Why did they speed up that trombone feature at 10:28? It was primed to be strong af, but ruined by extra technicality
No he took the year off because of his scoliosis. He has 2 years left, there is a chance he might come back next year, although I personally would be surprised.
Is this the band from Duke university because I've been trying to get info about this band because being in this band has been my dream and ik they're the blue devils but I wanna make sure they are from Duke university so do any of you know if they are from duke
BrassFX , No. Yes ,they're called the Blue Devils, but they're not a band from a university, they're a drum and bugle corps, from Concord, California. (See DCI.org) Bands have a would win instruments, drum corps generally don't. Notice you just pretty much see brass and drums out there. Good luck!
One more question I would go to Concord but then how do I audition or enroll to the band because I literally wanna be in this band but how do I enroll or audition and one more question srry is that do you still have to be in college or do you have to finish college first and then enroll to drum corps and sorry for to many questions because I wanna get as much information as possible before I try to get into the band
BrassFX , You need to apply with them directly. The following website is a good starting point. It talks about joining a drum Corps this year, but all the world class scores are full. This would be a good place to start to consider joining a world class drum and bugle core possibly for the 2019 marching season. One last thing, drum corps is for young adults ages up to age 21. in some instances based upon your birthday, you could be 22 and march DCI, But you have to be turning 22 in the summer: www.dci.org/auditions
That was me. I had seen this show the day before in Seattle, and saw such a unique dance move by the brass, (including the guy who pops up in the middle of the beass...) that when I recorded this recording in Pasco, WA the next day, I wanted to zoom in to show something very unique and diff, because others across the country wanted to see what the Blue Devils were doing this year... This was early July, and BD was up in n the Northwest doing some funky moves. This would be my guess why over100,000 views occurred within a week of me posting this.
visually, its not my favorite but musically, its pretty good. They still have a while to clean up some stuff until finals. Not a BD fan but this was not that bad.
I must admit that is has to be very hard to come up with shows every year that are innovative and never seen before. The fans now are really tough, but it obviously does not bother DCI what they think. Money can buy you a world class Corps. Boston woke up to that.
BAC has been a world class corps for a very long time. Money can buy you great staff, but that's it. The staff and members can make you a competitive corps.
Daniah, this isn't a school. This was the 2017 Blue Devils, from Concord, California. They compete in the World Class Division of Drum Corps International (DCI). They are the 19 time world champion, and again, with this show, won it all this year. To be a member of a drum corps in this division, it's typically ages 14-21. However a super large majority in the Blue Devils have already graduated from high school.
You can live anywhere in the world to be a part of a drum corps, But of course you still have to be able to be in town for their practices when they occur.
I'm not a fan of the drill and the stairs seem to just clutter the field. Everyone is trying to capture the magic of last year's Bluecoats show but are falling short of the mark in my view. Also, far too much P.A. system for my taste.
Now I don't get it I can't post up any DCI Videos up on Facebook (Never got caught), But I had People harassing me about copyright issues and how they will go after me about it, but you have DCI videos up what gives? I don't understand why everyone one Facebook gaves me BS. when I took the group down. It made thousands of people upset and mad. Not fair but anyway they were really good. 👍🎵
Every DCI Competition I've ever been too up until this year, always begged and pleaded with us not to put things on social media and RU-vid . This year I've been to 3 competitions in 3 different states across the country, and that plea always made over the loud speaker... has not been made... much to my surprise! Maybe the folks at DCI have given up, since there always seems to be rampant posts anyway? Good question!. I don't mind further clarification either. But that is why I've posted this year what I have.
I subscribe to the LIVE Feeds and they've been announced every show to not record and post on social media due to copyright issues. When i watch the shows, it doesn't appear there is much of a crowd, which is disappointing, because the talent of these performers are incredible. I would think they could use all of the exposure they can get.
Taylor Farr I was posting videos from 2014 and under never saw them on the webpage there only selling I think 2015 -2016... and this video is 2017. Sometimes DCI doesn't follow the copyright rules and has to remove audio from their DVDs. so there could be a copyright issue with some of these 2017 videos. (They have removed audio from the performance like (Corpse Bride) because my favorite composer Danny Elfman did not sign off on the copyrights to be recorded but ya ehh it's ok but I still say this video is good though.
I wouldn't call it hate, but more like jealousy. It's kind of like the New England Patriots who have won so many super bowls in the last 10 years or so. Ehen a drum corps always wins, I think the other corps get jealous and hope BD doesn't win occasionally. The next connundrum you have, is adjudicator bias. Because music, marching styles, uniforms (there's nothing uniform about the uniforms anymore), and how DCI has evolved over the past 30 years. .. and continues to change, it's not as simple as an objective contest. Any subjective activity is just that: subjective. There was a time when BD and the Cadets weren't that far apart in wins, but now BD has like 19, and the Cadets have 10, and everyone else is a bit farther behind. The Cadets are in a serious rebuilding phase, but it's like BD hasn't had a rebuilding phase for over a decade or more So it's a simple jealously situation if you ask me.
@@reidmorgan4231 wow in my comment I was going ask if they were the Patriots of DCI. Guess I was right. So if the Patriots had a band, would BD be the band?
BD should just be glad DCI does not actually bring in Real Artistic judges like Dance and Cheer competitions have and punish groups for lack of difficulty on movement. BD would finish 6th some years or decide they actually could not power block their whole show with 1980s drill. SMH.. DCI judges judge by color and name. No integrity and its the same clowns every year.
EpicMeh are saying where you're from they give a standing ovation to every corps? must be nice.. here they only give standing ovations to blue devils lol
This is crap. What eve happened to old style Drum and Bugle Corp/ This is like some sort of modern fantasy dance/ballet/opera show. And the over reliance on the clocks is too much.
