Blue Diamond’s Past, Personality & History EXPLAINED! (Steven Universe) 

Just a quick thing: The human zoo was made prior to Pink’s ‘shattering’. It was made while she pleaded for the Earth’s preservation as Pink Diamond.

Blue’s my favourite one out of all four of the diamonds. I just love her design, voice and personality. She’s still really antagonistic but also very emotional and more fair compared to the other diamonds, her emotions never make her seem like a pushover though and she can still be pretty threatening to all gems.

Blue was also the first to accept Steven and his identity as Steven while yellow and white kept calling him pink

Why do I see like the Diamonds as family after a relative’s death Yellow: the older sister feeling guilty of her sister death and not showing pink a lot of love and now regrets it and her personality is angry and mean because of her pinks death. Blue: The middle Child is crushed after her sister death and is very depressed and quiet. White: She doesn’t care but also does at the same time

I see Blue's emotional powers as a kind of "forced empathy."

She didn’t build the zoo as tribute to pink diamond she build it because pink diamond said she wanted to preserve life on earth

I love how each Diamond represents a form of abuse. White is Mental abuse, Yellow is Physical abuse, Blue is Emotional abuse, and Pink is Neglect (you see that with how she treated Spinel) It's just a really interesting way to see how it represents how horrible the Great Diamond Authority was at first, and then how they did the opposite after, well, everything. Even Steven does basically the opposite of Neglect throughout the shows

What if the Diamonds represent the different parts of the self? White is the mind, Yellow is the body, Blue is the emotion, and Pink is the soul? Together they make a whole functioning person, but if one is missing or unhealthy/unattended to, then you as a whole fall apart

I always felt like the diamonds were kind of motherly like the crystal gems. Blue is over emotional but shows love, yellow is cold and distant but still can show love, and white is a perfectionist who wants her "kids" to be picture perfect. Blue acts like a mother who has lost her child or at least that's how I have always seen her. She really helped me through the death of my own baby. To take time to grieve but not to let it overcome your life like blue diamond did. Thats just me

I think it’s really cool how Greg and Blue Diamond where both grieving the same exact person or gem

Something i found interesting about blue diamond was when blue diamond was bathing, she was using a comb made of a shapeshifted pebble, and you could also see bathroom accessories such as a toothbrush and soap, and jars, and even a straw, which are all human inventions and suggest that blue has had multiple encounters with humans(maybe via zoo or pink) and since she cared, it gave her inspiration

Something I think is noticeable is that blue was the quickest to understand steven due to her close relationship to pink diamond.

I see Yellow and Blue's relationship as similar to "Two and A Half Men" where they're friends raising a child together.

Honestly, I always felt blue was the nicest and most patient out of all of them, even before she knew about Steven. She seems genuinely kind and lovable, and when I saw her I knew she’d change. She was the one to convince yellow to change her ways. Honestly, I love her, and she’s one of my favorite characters

I think the diamonds Represent a Pacific side of emotion inside of us. Pink representing our anger and Excitement, yellow being strong will, blue being sadness and joy, and white representing the power you can have over others.

Leiji Matsomoto created "Galaxy 999 (Three Nine)", "Captain Harlock" (Who is emulated by Lars at one point in the series), and "Space Battleship Yamato", to name a few. Blue Diamond"s appearance is a easily a general composite of his typical female archetype, right down to her proportions and overall appearance. Although the impression of her copious bosom, and more filled out figure, is not really his but Sugar's.

No no no no no Blue Diamond does not treat gems of her court with Grace and respect. Blue is just as ruthless as the other💎 , blue is just gracefully ruthless.

Connie was bracing for BD's blue attack, but was immune (human) Lapis was susceptible to BD's blue attack, but was capable of withstanding the intense emotions (trauma survivor)

Its a shame, I was kinda hoping you'd look more into the blue hope diamond and how it causes death and is very unlucky, being considered 'cursed', the death part makes sense for blue since she was known as a shatterer

Interesting bit of headcanon that is (mostly) confirmed: Blue Diamond was the second Diamond that was made by White Diamond: making her after Yellow Diamond and before Pink Diamond. Based on what White said; she diffused portions of her personality to create the other Diamonds similar to how Father purged himself of his Sins in _Fullmetal Alchemist._ Due to Blue Diamonds' calm demeanor and ability to emotionally overwhelm other Gems, chances are Blue Diamond was made from Whites' Empathy and Reason in order to maintain a measure of control and oversight for the Imperial Territory that Yellow conquers while also reining in Yellow Diamond to make sure she doesn't pull up stakes and leave the Imperial Territory to start her own conquests. Because she is made from White Diamonds' Empathy; Blue Diamond is arguably the most approachable of the Diamonds outside of Pink had she found her niche and was allowed to cultivate her abilities and stake her position within the Authority as an equal.

Fun fact: blue actually gives of her depression Ora by making others feel what she’s feeling/felt. That goes with the line “What thousands of years of grief has done to me!” And then she does her magic 🪄

Quick thing about Blues Aura Projection! For Connie first not being affected then being affected, I think it was just to give Lapis her cool moment Also we see Lapis IS actually affected because of the tears rolling down her cheeks. I think the reason she’s able to withstand it is because Blue projects her grief as the aura, but as Lapis herself says “I’ve felt worse” she has LITERALLY felt worse than that

I always thought that her design was partially inspired by banshees what with the "strange presence" look, wailing, scottish accent, and association with death.

Blue- the giant of grief and beautiful nod to Leiji Matsumoto. Though she suffers a great deal of misery, she is capable of love and posses great sorrow for those who understands her pain. She's someone I would love to be there for, and say everything will be ok.

Blue Diamond didn't create the zoo in Pink's memory. Pink wanted to preserve life on Earth and that was the solution Blue came up with. When she was "shattered", Blue decided to keep it and the Rose Quartz soldiers preserved in her memory. She visits the Human Zoo often to grieve.

The one question I have about Blue Diamond, why is she Irish , what is the in universe explanation for her being the only diamond to not have an American accent. Also little side note, before White and Pinks voice actors were revealed I thought each of the Diamonds voice actors would be a different type of musicians Yellow was a Broadway Singer , Blue was a Folk Singer and I theorised White would be an Opera Singer and Pink would be a rock musician.
