I love this for Akemi. She’s taking control of her destiny. And besides, I found myself thinking she deserved better than Taigen. He abandoned her to seek revenge and find his honor. 😒 Yeah well now she’s married to royalty and she about to make boss lady moves by the looks of it.
Yeah right How could he flip from having intercourse with akemi and they both mutually liked each other. He first liked akemi then chased mizu and at the last episode he came to akemi claiming to spend his life with her for the rest Seriously dude , at least decide what you want I liked akemi and mizu Because they knew what they wanted unlike taigen who is just looking for a scabbard to insert his sword

@@BingleFlimp He had a choice. Akemi or his honor. He chose. There’s nothing wrong with him choosing what’s important to him but based off that choice, we all could see that choosing Taigen would not be a good option for Akemi.

Are we meant to believe that she'd be happy in that situation? Are we meant to believe that her father's men wouldn't go after them?
Taigen has to be the most misunderstood character in the whole series. Yes, he might not be the most sympathetic character but the guy clearly learned his lesson at the end and kind of redeemed himself ( by enduring the torture to protect Mizu and by alarming the Emperor about Fowler's betrayal) . What people also forget is that he couldn't marry Akemi at the beginning because he lost the duel against Mizu, even Akemi's father said that he won't allow her to marry him because he lost. That's why Taigen left Akemi to find and defeat Mizu so he could return to her and marry her. Even at the end when he found her, he said that he doesn't care about wealth or status anymore, he just wanted to be happy with Akemi and she decided to make the girl boss move and reject him. Now who's the one looking for glory and status?
I love how by the end of the first season you see these two have a character swap. In the beginning, we see their motives clearly. Taigen wants to be great and restore his status. Akemi wants to be happy and marry a noble husband. By the end, the mood has changed. Taigen doesn't care about his reputation and just wants to live the rest of his days happy. Akemi wants to become a courageous monarch who wants to keep the women of the world from becoming property. The writing of these characters is top notch and I hope we get to see more of them.
Except for the fact that Akemi changed her goals in a single scene with no explanation whatsoever: she wanted to run away with Suki, he got shot, suddenly she wants to become a strong and independent monarch. Same goes for Taigen who risked his life to save the shogan for his honor and then decided that he doesn’t care about it anymore
Its surprising to see the amount men insulting Akemi even though anyone with a level of comprehension can see her strengths and depth. I think its because to them Mizu is strong in a "man" way while Akemi is strong using "woman" way (very shallow terms but lets go with that). And the strength is the "woman" way is much less unrelatable to them so they diss it. Maybe even fear it which leads them to disregard Akemi.
He wanted to fight with mizu but she sent him away to go be with Akemi and I think, like the dumbass he is, he’s going where he’s pointed until he realizes that’s not what he actually wants. Fortunately! Akemi passed on the offer. He would’ve ended up bored and restless leading a life at a farm. They both would’ve. Akemi is where she belongs. Seki, what he’s been trying to tell her this whole time, is that yes he dropped her into a pit of vipers but he raised her to be a snake charmer and she would rule them all if she leans into that role. Which she’s choosing to do here. So I think Taigen and Mizu may end up together and I think they’re good together. Not that Mizu doesn’t deserve better 😅 She absolutely does…but what I like about the two of them together is that Taigen has seen her 100% at her worse and has gotten all the nastiest names out of his system to the point she’s immune to him calling her anything. But then he’s realizing he was wrong and seeing her true worth. Mizu needs someone who will be honest with her and nothing Taigen says or does can hurt Mizu (like with MIKIO) because she’s seen and heard it all before. Taigen needs a warrior…not someone waiting at home for him to come back to. He needs someone who will be in his face and call him on his bullshit. For now, I ship them :)

Well let's see how story will unfold And I hope he rots on a farm with his so called normal life away from mizu I hope mizu find someone better in season 2

Like when he got a boner fighting with Mizu he immediately said, “oh I must be missing Akemi.” Cause it’s impossible for him to like another guy right? He raised her so she would find the power within that lifestyle, modify it to her favor (for example how the madam told Akemi to find her husband's weakness and use it to win power over him) and like that, she can be free.
