I love Samurai films, and I love Western films. And now I love Blue Eye Samurai Back in the day there was a very special sub-genre that in my head was called Western Samurai films. Movies that borrowed back and forth from each others cultures to make stories of Giri and Ninjo. Now Blue Eye Samurai takes that sub-genre and updates it with modern story telling.

Happy to see you spending more time on Blue Eye Samurai. The show needs as many eyes as it can get on it, and as usual, I love to see your insights applied to worthy narratives.

I agree! I really wish there was more attention to the show. Penguinz0 said on stream that he loves Blue Eye Samurai so it would be really good for the show if he made a video on it.

Same I am from India and Indian reviewers are not reviewing the show which is a very disservice to the show that they were reviewing Arcane when it came but when this came they are not reviewing it only one few reviewers I've seen who are reviewing this show and not the other famous reviewers and only few people in India know about this show

Honestly, i hadn't caught it till now but the scene you used with Akemi 4:02 it reads very Mulan "who is that girl i see" where Mulan chooses Duty BECAUSE of her emotions.

This series has quite homages and similarities to ( 1973 ) Lady Snowblood movie snd Samurai Champloo anime which I think anyone who has watched these two can understand and see the similarities in Blue eye samurai and how these have big influence in the show and one thing I have also noticed is that Mizu have some similarities with a certain character from Demon Slayer anime is Shinobu Kocho. Both female characters want revenge for what happened in their life, their portrayal of female rage is very well done and both are very well written characters but the difference is the Shinobu constantly smiles because of her sisters wishes but if Shinobu didn't do that her personality would have literally been like Mizu.

@@jsull81 Same, AFAIK the algorithm rewards you for making content that has a high watch time and click-through rate, but it can't measure if a video has had a big positive impact on how its viewers see the world (unless those types of videos get rewatched a bunch of times), but I'm curious to see his POV on the topic

I don't even like Samurai/Western films. Like, at all. But this show is sooooo good that it transcends the genre.

I was quite interested to watch this show, but man I got principles and Michael Green as half the creator duo and showrunner puts a real bad taste in my mouth. Happy that people are enjoying this but I unfortunately will abstain until he gets a better perspective, especially for someone who works on the themes within media that he does. Pretty staunchly zionist, which at the best of times is unsavory but at current times abhorrent. I'm not sure if the sentiment spreads to other creative members on the show so I withhold judgment of them, but he's made his beliefs well-known. Worse given the quality and type of work he's famous for.
