My name is Brandi Evans McComb, I am the voice you hear on this song, I recorded it back in early 2000 with FUNimation, I was paid one time that day and sadly I am never mentioned but it is on my website and credited in a few other places. I was on tour at the time for 10 years with a band called Vince Vance and the Valiants, one of the other female vocalists that was on tour with me named Stephanie Nadolny played several voices including Gohan and Goku on Dragon Ball Z and they were looking for a raspy vocalist for the opening of this cartoon and came out to hear me sing and loved me, I went out the following week to record it in the studio. It just bothers me that nobody ever gives me credit all these years later. I sang the English opening (this version) and Daphne Gere sings all of the endings. Laura Bailey did not sing this or any of the songs, she was a voice actor.
Wow, this is one of the best opening songs in anime, the thing that got me in to watching anime, and that so cool i finally i know who made it, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR MAKING IT!!!
Thanks everyone! I did hear my name is listed on the demo credits atleast. I sure would appreciate you guys spreading the word. Nothing more upsetting to a vocalist and artist to not receive proper credit
I first watched this anime back in like 06. Easily my favorite into and the main reason is your amazing singing. Short song and I always wished I could hear more but never knew who sang this. I really look forward to listening to what you have on your page! Shame proper credit wasn't given, such a shame. Great work though
My name is Brandi, I am the girl you hear singing. I recorded this for Fundimation back in 2001, although I do not get royalties, it's still so cool to have on my bio :0) I hope you like it!
Shame on Funimation for not giving you credit! I wasn’t able to catch Blue Gender during its original run on Toonami in 2002, I was just a little kid back then, but as a 22 year old who has FINALLY seen it, you absolutely killed it with this song. Definitely made this anime, which was already badass, even better with this song! Well done!
My name is Brand Evans Busby and that is me singing the Blue Gender English version called "Break Free". Barry Watson who is president and CEO of Illumitoon Entertainment was formerly a producer and voice director for FUNimation Entertainment which is who I recorded it with back in 2000. I am the vocalist you hear on this song.
I remember reading it was from the producers of Serial Experiments Lain and Tenchi Muyo? I might be wrong tho anyways I've seen the series definitely recommended
Here is my advice to all anime fans: if you have not watched this series yet, then do it! Trust me, I recognize quality when I see it. Especially if it's an underrated gem.
This is lonliness Displaying memories of happiness. I look over all that's left, And despair is what I find. I grow weary of this fear That causes a tear in my very soul. I don't want to be afraid Of what lies ahead. I don't cause know, Hear my voice. Set me free now! Come on hear me baby set me free Distant lands call forward in time to me. Break through the blinds of the darkness to the sublime. For my heartbeat! Taking up in the arms of faith With the strength of conviction and the hope of dreams The power that makes what was lost seem like something worth keeping alive.
My first real anime. Watched this on adult swim when I was 11? I told myself if I ever find a girl that knows about this anime. I'll marry her. This is how much of a hidden gem this anime is.
I watched this very recently, and while at times the animation isn't the best I really felt the atmosphere and designs were really good. Plus the two main characters Yuji and Marlene were awesome and there character arcs were pretty compelling.

Truth be told, Blue Gender easily takes it's place in my top 5 favorite animes. I just fell in love with it. Especially Marlene :3 Laura Bailey was just awesome in with her.
I was just a little girl when I watched this on adult swim back in the day, and it always made me feel like such a badass! Damn, gotta love nostalgia. :)
Daphne Gere recorded all other Blue gender songs. My best friend, Stephanie Nadolny, who is the voice of "Gohan" and "Goku" as well as many others on Dragonball Z was discovered by the company, then they asked me to record the song. We were both professional singers with Vince Vance & the Valiants for 10 years back in 1991-2001.
So if blue gender got to be a live action movie, I would be conflicted between Ridley Scott and Peter Jackson directing. Plus it would have to be at least a trilogy to be completely awesome
@@Shotgunman5 look up Starship Troopers OVA. Its a short Japanese series based on the original book, and it is more 'mobile infantry vs plant like spore monsters.' Mobile infantry makes sense in the anime, as mobile is a term for mech, and the troops fight in one man power armour.
miss, Brandi Evans McComb, if everything is true what you say I will give you thanks for this outstanding and amazing music you bring to everyone, who ever saw this video, maybe people won't remember you but history will, in the anime.
This is the best mature animate series I've seen so far, not an episode is missing out on fire power and intense action. All can say is great Sci-fi action show, come along with a great story. Unfortunately it only catches the eyes of mature viewer.
The series is actually way better than the movie. I got into this anime through the movie first. The movie seemed like it was good until midway. It had tons of cliff hangers with characters popping in and out whom seemed to have a larger role than was shown. It wasn't till I watch the series that everything was explained. Turned out that the anime was actually pretty good.
I liked this anime. It's like starship troopers without the sheer incompetence of the troops just standing doing nothing there as one of their buddies gets torn apart by a bug.
Actually, my name is Brand Busby and that is me singing the Blue gender english version. If you would like to find out for sure, you can contact Barry Watson who is president and CEO of Illumitoon Entertainment. He was formerly a producer and voice director for FUNimation Entertainment which is who I recorded it with back in 2000.
i no what your talking about :) the girl that the main character promissed he would protect. She died and all that was left to remember her buy was her dog that came back after the fight was over. it just sat there waiting for her. This show can be pretty depressing but a great show none the less. It tugs at the emoitional strings.
the minigun is an anti-personnel weapon that is usually mounted on fast moving vehicles like helicopters. It is not used for destroying tank armor. you are thinking of a browning m2 which is for light vehicles like jeeps or knocking down enemy cover.

GeminiM It's a classic in my book. Don't come to this anime looking for any laughs though. It's serious, dark, tense, gory, and even a bit political. It really starts to pick up after a few episodes. The character development and atmosphere are both stellar. Would recommend.
I only watched one episode of this, by accident, when staying over someone else's house way back. Saw the episode with *spoiler* a girl just standing there, and then um. Not being there anymore. I'll never forget that.
Gez this was such a good show.......i started watching it like when i was 12 or somthing idk when it first came on on Adult Swim and loved it but before u know it they just took it off...that blew some much u have no idea.......haah well at least now that "had" Death Note on and it end only like 2 months ago lol but guess what no good things last forever ahah that really sucks
When I was browsing here a while back, I stumbled upon a Tokihanate video with a RU-vidr comment that claimed she was the English singer. If you keep browsing for more RU-vid videos of this song, I'm sure you'll find it as well. Maybe then you can confirm/ask her questions.

An abrams tank can go 30-40 miles an hour and have nearly pinpoint accuracy while driving that fast, with the turret spinning. I think the Shrikes major strength lies in their ability to jump. Most of the damage they do with those blades is done coming down from a jump.
