Miranda and I were joined by our friend Dustin for this hike. You can find him on instagram @drob12985. He has an amazing photography account!
A beautiful 6-mile loop in the snow. This hike is in the Kentucky section of the Big South Fork NRRA. Stunning overlooks above the Cumberland River and the preserved Blue Heron Coal Mine camp make this hike unique. This is a pretty easy trail for average hikers. We started out in the middle of the loop due to the roads being closed from the snow and ice. In good conditions, both overlooks can also be reached by car and they both have paved walkways to the decks. The coal mining camp can be accessed by road also and offers a very cool look into history. You can also take a scenic train ride in nearby Stearns. Absolutely beautiful hike! 10/10 recommend! :)
