Hiking, backpacking, camping, and travel. Mostly hiking :) I fell in love with with hiking in 2019 after a trip to the bottom of the Grand Canyon. I have a bucket list of visiting all the National Parks. I started creating videos as a means of consolidating my photos of the Grand Canyon trip, and then started taking video on an iPhone 10. I found that I really enjoy creating videos and upgraded to a GoPro Hero 8 to film in 4K. This channel is just a hobby that I do in my free time. Come share in exploring Gods marvelous creations with me. Hope you enjoy!! Follow me on Instagram @kristainthebackcountry
Krista, I'm curious. You've obviously done the Rim to Rim before, and via the more usual N to S routing. Why the S to N this time? What did you learn? I will soon have 3 N to S crossings, thinking about what might be gained by a S to N. Devil's Corkscrew going down does not look fun!
@@claycook5773 hey! So I hadn’t done a rim to rim before this. But it was largely due to the permit system. I expected my chances of getting all 3 campgrounds in consecutive days were pretty slim so I put several alternative routes with open dates and this is the one that was approved. I didn’t mind it though, it broke up the climb out into two days. It is longer to climb out on the North Rim and a higher elevation so we did have some fatigue from the elevation difference but I would do this route again 😊 I have climbed out on Bright Angel as well and in my opinion they are about equally difficult. Both have pros and cons. Hope you have a wonderful trip! Best of luck 👏🏻
Thank you!! It looks so steep from the drone view but it doesn’t feel even close to that steep while you’re climbing it! Love Red River Gorge! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Great videos. Glad to see not everyone just rushing the rim to rim trail. How did you charge your phones and camera on the trail? Was their a way to charge at Phantom Ranch?
Thank you! We wanted to enjoy every second!! We had solar battery packs! We put them on the outside of our packs while we hiked during the day and then charged our phones at night. I don’t recall the brand, just cheap ones from Amazon 😊 For my camera, I used a GoPro and I took 6 batteries along but think I only used 4.
Wow! What a beautiful place even on a day when the sun's hiding! Thanks for sharing this. Good morning! I wish you well. STAY ENCOURAGED 😊LIKED 👍SUBSCRIBED
Super enjoyed watching this! I watch a lot of these tracks into the Grand Canyon, because it was a dream of mine. That’s gone beyond my capabilities, now due to my age and physical limitations. . What I particularly enjoyed about this was the dialogue was enjoyable he didn’t excellent job catch, capturing the scenery and the flora and Fauna. also you did something I rarely see in these videos was you stop to try to capture the depth of these canyons and the layers of canyon upon Canyon within Canyon that make up the Grand Canyon. Well done
Thank you so much! So glad you enjoyed the video 🫶🏻 The Grand Canyon is spectacular and I can never capture the true depth and beauty. I am so happy that you were able to experience it a little bit through this video. 💖
The sound that you heard coming from that Red Pine tree is the sound of a Pine beetle, likely a Sawyer Beetle larva actively chewing the wood. Along with the 1/4" holes as evident in your video, I would say that Pine is in trouble, as Sawyer Beetles attack stressed out, dying, or dead Pines. Sorry, as an arborist, it's interesting see people run across things like this. Good catch. Also, a couple of friends and I, along with my son and nephew, went and stayed on Auxier Ridge over night last weekend (11/25) and oh my was it COLD overnight.
Hello, I watched your video and I am really interested to visit those waterfalls, can you tell me how far apart from each of the waterfalls. Also what is the nearest town?. Thank you and may God bless you everywhere you go.
They are amazing! So I don’t remember exactly where they all are or how far apart but most of the falls are named and should be on google maps or land forms. Some of the names are Meadow Creek, Dunloup, Marr Branch, and Wolf Creek Falls. Happy Trails 🥾🥰
So beautifully shot.. could not have been better imaging with all that wet shine in the soft emerald light. "Rain forest conditions"..you guys are troopers.
Ah sorry I don’t remember what roads, but most of the falls are named and should be on google maps or land forms. Some of the names are Meadow Creek, Dunloup, Marr Branch, and Wolf Creek Falls.
Thank you! Love Middle Tennessee! I’m actually working on another video now from a trip to Linville Gorge and Western North Carolina. It was amazing 🩷🩷
Awesome video. Your videos are always done extremely well. My goal was to hike the AT portion of the Shenandoah's this summer with my kids, but I think it might be better to explore some of the other trails as well. From what I see, I don't think all of your adventure was on the AT.
