I’ve been so frustrated with the wide scale adoption of ridiculously bright LED in car lights and street lights. I can tell it’s disturbing to my health just by looking at them. It’s like everything now is made to eff up our natural systems
I can tell the deep orange ones work because they feel so great and make me realise how truly bad the barrage of bright LEDs is (street lights, car headlights etc)
I bought my daughter a light projector thinking it would help her calm down and go to sleep at night 😂😂 walked into the room with my blublox on and I couldn't see the stars! So the red lenses def work and I realized I had bought a blue light projector 🙈
Yes. I always hated the brown lenses from Ray Ban and all. But today I have a pair of hunter sun glasses and they are the best. The new cars at night burn your eyes, hurt and blind you for hours. 👀 🕶 😮
Blue blockers have helped my sleep immensely. When you put them on, you can actually feel your brain relax! Also, I use only incandescent in my home,no LED light bulbs.
I use orange tinted blue blockers while watching screens at night but always felt that not being around screens at all gave me better sleep than relying on the glasses. Thank you for the research as it explains what I was suspecting.

IIUC if the red light is intense enough you will have sleep disrupted anyway. The intensity should be around that of a fire.
@ It's funny that we can some how worm our way around the fact that we shouldn't be seeing light, or be mentally taxed at night with more gear and the same toxic environmental signals.

@@Valoric well, fire, non-Sun stars, and the Moon were around for long enough to conclude that some level of light during night is OK. There's also a possibility that humans hunted during the night before (they still do today!). And while it seems not emitting too much/blue light at night in the first place would be a more principled approach, it'd require us to convince everyone to change their lights. It's much better to just wear glasses today than wait years until everyone else adjusts.
I recently had cataract surgery on both eyes. Blue light glasses have made a big difference in reducing the amount of eye strain and tired eyes from being in front of computer monitors for 8 to 12+ hours a day
I found ear inserts, from Flare, that also help. They pull out certain spectrums of sound that can be stimulating. Sleep is way more complex than melatonin and light. Unless you address it in multiple ways, yellow, orange, and red glasses will be mildly helpful at best.
I love my blublox (boncharge) glasses. Got a pair a few years ago for during the day that are yellow if am looking at a screen and a pair with red lenses for at night 🥰
TrueDark Twilight Classic glasses are the best and darkest red lenses. They look badass and block 100% of blue and green light spectrums. Best blue blockers I've ever worn.
It’s not hard to do your own experiment. I have orange safety glasses that can go over my regular glasses. They were less than $20. I noticed a difference immediately. I absolutely have to have them on before bedtime or I can’t sleep.
Me too! I was wearing them back in the "UVEX" days, when there were no companies who made decent pairs, so had to settle for those construction-type things
@@EONutrition I’m thrilled that the company you linked sells prescription glasses. As soon as I get my prescription updated, I’m in for a pair! Thank you, your channel is most excellent btw. I’ve had many opportunities to share it and the B1 therapy is healing my gut!
about five years ago i worked with computer a lot and it triggered migraines and an eye strain for weeks. i started using blue light blocker glasses and it went away within days and i never stopped using them and it never came back. no orange, no tint. just yesterday forgot the glasses at home and I only noticed one hour in when my eyes started to hurt. when i put the glasses on from the beginning i can go almost forever. now i don't understand what the study measured but the blue light blockers make a significant difference in my life and hugely increase my time in front of a screen. if they say it is placebo, they may as well say disinfection is a scam or a chemotherapy is a scam. if it works, then it works.
I use my colour tint facility on my iPad and change the slider to further into the red zone. I’ve been using it a while and have now gotten used to it. Tbh if I look at a normal scene I find it too bright and sort of “shocking” if that makes sense
Why not test which frequencies they actually block, if any? That is all they are advertised to do. The effects wearers report can be subjective, and vary greatly from person to person.
I use them and they work. Its that simple. I also used them while I had my eyes lasered and couldn't look at a TV screen or have the lights on without wearing them.
Blue blocker glasses fixed my "jet lag" from changing the clocks in 2 hours. I don't really use the glasses anymore, but I use red lights in my house in the evenings when I'm getting ready for bed. My sleep has been excellent ever since.
Idk but what I do before bed on my computer has helped: Windows 10 nightmode + Flux on the lowest red light setting, and then on my monitor color: 50 red/0 blue/0 green and as low light/contrast as I feel like.
i used to suffer from extreme headaches, esoecially with prolonged use of screens. Ever since i got the orange blue light blocking omg! a day and night difference on my headaches, sleep, energy levels. its crazy
Mr Overton, when can we expect your ttfd to be available for purchase? I have checked every website that has ever had it in its offer and your supplement is out of stock everywhere. Also do you ship from Europe?
I love the Vivarays 3 in 1 glasses. They offer 3 lenses that filter out different frequencies of light at different times of the day. I have used many companies in the past and Vivarays is by far by favourite. They are the only ones I found who offer a blue light harmonizer for daytime use. Their daytime lenses makes the blue light more harmonized and balanced with other frequencies of colour during the day. Also, they have one for the evening that filter out all blue light and one for nightime that filter out all blue & green light and is very effective at decreasing the brightness. The best part is that the 3 in 1 system allow you to switch from one lens to another without needing 3 different frames
So if I understand right, clear blue filter glasses are good for indoor blue light because of potential eye damage from the blue light, but they do not help sleep. And outside it doesn't really matter. The ones that protect your eye AND help with sleep are the amber colored ones. So if I have a job that requires me to stare at my monitor for hours non-stop, the clear blue filter glasses AREN'T a waste of money and are actually good?
You all can keep your "blue light blockers". I've tried them for 2 years and always got drowsy, dry eyes, and eye strain wearing them. It was insufferable and almost drove me to insanity. I finally said no to blue light blockers when I was at the optometrist this year. Boy did they push hard for the sale, this should've been the first red flag from the very beginning! Saved $100. Now I can work at my desk longer because I don't get drowsy, my eyes aren't dry anymore (no more wasting money on eye drops), and the eye strain is completely gone. Haven't had any of these symptoms for 7 months now. Imagine that!
I got the Vyzia blue blocker the night sleep clip on a few months ago they work like charm.. no regret with the purchase. I believe they are trying to add more products
Used your 15% discount code for the Bon Charge Magnum wire frame blueblocking glasses, and have been able to add an additional hour & a half since week one!😊
Thank you! I knew there was more science behind this. Exactly the information I was looking for. I wonder if getting any amber colored lenses would work, ie cheaper options (not designated to block blue & green) I would imagine it would work because it's the color that does the filtering.
I use the blue filtered setting on the smartphone, much less headaches, and in eve I'll turn brightness right down. In contrast, I have dyslexia with vision issues, wearing blue lense glasses stops the words buzzing about when reading black text on white background.
You explained importance of ttfd in almost all of your videos, which I really appreciate BUT you still aren't able to bring those supplements back in stock. That creates a BIG doubt
I actually keep all lights on full until i go to sleep then it's total darkness. Ive found that trying to "simulate" a sunset or lessen artificial light before bed to actually mess with my sleep because i get too sleepy before laying down in bed. when i lay down to sleep thats the first time my eyes experience total darkness. in peak summer, i will lay down in bed with only natural light an hour before sundown. then i fall asleep to a natural sunset, works the best of course but in winter times this isnt practical.
Hello 😊this is an excellent lecture on Blue Lighting glasses Ok 👍 If I am wearing my prescription glasses, do I wear these on top of my glasses, or do they have to be built up in my actual prescription glasses ? Thank you for your kind answer 🙏
I tend not to wear them with my phone and tablet, because I use the night time filter. I also use the nighttime filter on my desktop, BUT even when I use my monitor during the day I use the blue blocker glasses. If i don't, my eyes get dry and strained, and my terminal neuralgia is often triggered by that. 😬 So, on the computer (laptop or desktop), I can't really function without them. My son *loves* to tell me it's the overall brightness that's the only issue. That's just not been my personal experience. Sure, having a full spectrum room light on at 100% at 10pm throws things off. I agree. Electronic screens are just more complicated and troublesome for me than just the brightness. My kindle paperwhite, set on the dark mode, and dimmed down with my bedroom lights off doesn't bother me, though. I'm really glad for that, because it's so convenient.
I noticed you talked to a german man that seems to sell these glasses so I wondered if your opinion had changed about them being useful so I thought I would check what you say in this video.
There are bluelight flashlights. You can light through your bluelight glass to see if it works. Dr Berg had such a video testing and about 20-30% only really blocked the bluelight.
Great vid . Are the red lens blue light block glasses meant to be worn soon as sun goes down? Or a few hours before bed? I have yellow lens blockers for daytime computer work (they’re great). And I just bought red lens blockers for night.. Also have option to get amber lens ones for sundown .. (blocks blue but not green) Wondering if useful to have all 3!?
I use the spectra479 glasses and my sleep onset has changed dramatically. Before I use to lay in my bed and keep tossing if I watched screen/phone right before bed. Now I wear it 2 hours before my set bedtime and take it off right before going to bed and I am asleep in just 10mins. Note, the spectra 479 have red/amber color glasses which is why it works.
what are some of the best amber max or red blue blocker? IS gunnar glasses good. hearing too much studies lately that the blue blocking glasses dont work at all
Still don't understand why blue light blocking glasses are reflecting blue! They reflect orange. Doesn't that mean blue is passing thru and orange is blocked
I just switched out some lights to use at night which are green since the newest research from neuroinflammation says green lights can be healing? I would love to hear your comment on that (?)
I wonder with that aluminium glow, coming from blocked out sun if yellow or red lenses would help in day and outside. There are most days now when i am blinded by the aluminium bubble often over us in the day
My child got autism and fluorescent light is a uge problem. I got a blue blokker glasses. Im scared that it wil doe more damage than help. I cant afford to buy new ones.
Hi Elliot , I have a question.... I'm interested in buying the blue light blocking sunglasses. I'm hoping to purchase them whilst the current extended 25% black fr8day sale is still on ... I have a (big) habit of watching Netflix, TV and RU-vid videos for a few hours before bed as a way of relaxing. So my question is will the glasses make everything I watch red coloured as the special lenses are amber-red? If so then how do I wear them to give blue light blocking protection from devices at night as this will impair the the natural colours during viewing films/TV/videos etc at night?? This was the main reason I wanted to buy them. But do they make everything look red? So should I still get them? 🤔
From some research I am suspecting that thiamine deficiency is the underlying cause of a condition called PMDD in women. It's an "untreatable" condition that often makes women do suicide attempts. If I was a scientist I'd start a study about this ASAP, this could save lives. Maybe you could look into this? I have a group of women that would like to be test subjects for a (test)trial and some women that know a lot about this condition who could tell you a lot. It could be a big breakthrough. Would that interest you? If anyone does it it should be you I think. Second, I just started low dose benfothiamine myself about 50mg because I had an extremely adverse response to neurofeedback (depersonalisation, neurotransmitterconfusion by lack of a better term and loss of focus and severe moodswings) and I after I take this small dose I am starting to feel some pressure in my head. Is this normal ?
I get migraines when I do t wear them. This is real and not made up. I have to wear them when working on my computer. Without them I get headaches and can not see due to migraines
@@kathytriplett7947 bluebox are the ones elliot mentioned, right? I was wondering if any pair of glasses that are tinted red work.... I can't purchase blublox here in my country.
Cheap red spectrum glasses for me. I suffer from migraines and the resulting photophobia. Bright light barely stings anymore. I also use Twilight red filter app on my phone with Kindle in dark mode, and I actually like to read now. 3 books in June. Blake Crouch, highly reccomendes if you like your brain melted and a cinematic experience in novel form.
So someone who's affiliated with the blue blockers producer company and makes this video is not biased? How can I trust a word if this is just to sell the product?
@@forisma How can you trust a word anyone says then? Watch the video and ignore the promotion. Or even better, buy a pair (from any company) and see if they work. Its really quite simple... they categorically work for sleep and the evidence shows this
Hmm, I was sure I have commented after 2 weeks of use, can't find comment . Clips ons version cost me to get them into EU for around 100€. After several weeks, sorry to say that, I can't see any difference. I'm spending a lot of time in front of computer as that is my work. Have been using them for up to 3 hours before going to sleep. Guess can't work for all. :-( Will stop, then try again at some later time. Maybe will borrow to some friend or relative to test them.
unless you're using OLED phone or monitor, it won't work. LCD monitors have a white backlight behind them so they will look red. But will pour out white light to light up the display anyway. Doesn't work. And at least with iPhones, the night light doesn't get red enough to work properly. It's a bad implementation. Idk about android. Probably the same deal
You should have told up from the beginning that this was an infomercial so I could have changed what I was watching this is getting out of hand it’s on all platforms now
@@MysticOblong The video literally has a pop-up saying "this video contains a paid promotion", and it also has timestamps all the way through with a section that is explicitly titled "promotion". What more do you want? What does any other creator do? I LOL'd because I actually laughed out loud. First of all, it's not an infomercial. It's a video with a sponsor, the same as 99% of any other video by any other creator. How do you expect one to make a living? All anyone needs to do is skip past the timestamp to avoid the promo, and all of the information would still be relevant and accurate. It's really not difficult.
I always find it ridiculous for a gamer to buy an expensive high quality display and then put a filter in front of his eyes. What about putting your brightness down, adding backlight in dark and using nightshift at night? I mean you get the same result but you just dont have to pay. Maybe you even save money on electricity check.
Thats all good if your using red bulbs and don't turn any other lights on, like when you go to brush your teeth. If you do, it negates everything you had done before it.
