I've been following this series since video 1 and it's a great learning experience. Bought the download and they are a perfect match with the video's. Since I can't go to Berlin for lessons, this system works for me. Thank you Christian! I'm learning the blues.

...but this is not a face covering Christian, I always look like this! No wonder I got the blues, but life is uphill for most of us, so we look for the bits we like best and get lost in music. I get lost more than most, but I love these tutorials keepin' me brain working. Thanks a big bunch Christian.

Very important to be careful at the end of the licks. As I said on video 3, the sheet music Christian makes available on his website helps enormously I developed a bad habit at the end of licks skipping one of the C-G and C-A "bounces" in the left hand and I could not work it out in my mind. I bought the sheet music for a few euros and I spent about two hours VERY slowly going through this again and again and again until I got it !!! :). It is time well spent - you have all your life to learn this so it is important to get it right. Sometimes when it does not "click" it is best going away from the piano and coming back a day later and, somehow, your brain figures it out! Thanks again Christian for all your hard work on this series, you are a genius!

Hi Christian: I too very much enjoy your method of adding just a small amount to each lesson segment. It’s not too taxing on the brain and one cannot fail to recognize exactly where things are going wrong in order to correct errors and misunderstandings. So easy to just repeat the “broken” phrase and fix it before continuing. I have played flute for 10 years but chord naming and progressions are sketchy in my mind due to classical studies which tend to focus more on learning to execute the repertoire. This is so much fun! Thank you! I am 80 years old and professional piano player husband is amazed at my swift progress. I am on lesson 4 and downloaded the very helpful sheet music today. Thanks again ! ❤️🥳

Wolfgang Römer Christian, on your question to Herman Reinhardt: I worked “Blues Piano for Beginners” 1 to 3 and think it's a big jumb but not too big. The advantage of No. 4 is that you can feel the effort is worth it. That motivates (I'm 84 years old) Are there notes for exactly No. 4?

Hi Christian I find your videos and sheet music extremely well done and useful. I have a small question : in the videos, the notation of the keys seems to start from 0 (C0, D0, etc...), so is the center C the C3 or C4 ? I am just learning to read sheet music, so it makes a difference for me ...
@ChristianFuchsBlues
@ChristianFuchsBlues 2 года назад
C3 is middle C! ;-)

@@ChristianFuchsBlues Thanks Christian ! I have now found why I was confused : my piano has a key to shift the whole keyboard by one octave, and it had been activated (does not reset on power off) - problem solved I now understand clearly the notations :-)

Hi Christian, thanks for the video! I have a question for you, if you have time. When I play a 12 bar blues form especially in boogie woogie I sometimes lose count in which bar I am, do you have tips for that?
@ChristianFuchsBlues
@ChristianFuchsBlues 3 года назад
There is just one method: play so slow or little in the right hand. that you CAN count the bars. And only then you add stuff. Always from left to right. ;-)

Nice. I like your bluesy feel. I have a question about finger position when playing chords. I'm a piano begginer and I've just learned to play chords with 1, 3, 5 fingers but you use 1, 2, 3 fingers. As I'm just starting to learn it was easy for me to switch to 1, 2, 3 finger positions. But I have a question: should I use that position only when playing blues and use 1 3 5 in other styles? Should I use 1 2 3 in other styles? I guess 1 3 5 is used for some reason so it's not ok to abort it? If I use 123 in blues and 135 elsewhere will that be to much confusion for my fingers? I'm little confused now how should I study piano so I won't have problems later.
@ChristianFuchsBlues
@ChristianFuchsBlues 3 года назад
Hey Bullet! There are always standard finger settings, the one you learned,, and fingersettings that change in a certain context. Like wanting to tie chords. Here 1,2,3, makes it possible to tie to the next chord. You will never have the same finger settings for a note in all of your music. Learning the standard is good. But be ready to modify according to the context.

Dear Christian, I have a question that won't let me sleep. The fun element I try to play has different rhythms in the right and left hand that I seem not be able to master at this point, it takes me a lot of time to practice (more than other things we've learned). How to approach it? Either my left hand loses the 12 bar blues swinging motion or my right hand begins to play the swinging notes. I can hear and see your right hand is doing a much more choppy motion. What should I do?
@ChristianFuchsBlues
@ChristianFuchsBlues Год назад
These things cannot really solved by text. One would have to be there and see what you do wrong exactly. That is clearly a disadvantage of leaning without a teacher present. If you get stuck, I recommend just to move on to something else before loosing sleep over it.
@nataliapikua2198
@nataliapikua2198 Год назад
@@ChristianFuchsBlues thanks Christian, apart from that, the lesson was spot on. After you answered my comment I looked for some additional rhythm excercises and after I did them for a couple of days, it was enough for me to master the fun pattern as well! :)
