I’m a 44 year old builder (can you imagine the awkward situations onabiilding site??!). and have struggled with this for 25+ years. I avoid all social interactions with groups, even family. I’m an extrovert too, which kind of makes it worse. So glad to see I’m not on my own with this s**t!!

As a 32 year old male who owns a business that requires networking and brief public speaking blushing has been a nightmare. Not only that I sweat as well. Im trying to work on it, but it is such scary thing to deal with. Anyone that doesnt have these problems cant even imagine. I will continue to take baby steps and ultimately beat this.

Yep i blame it on menopause to others now. This has basically ruined my life. It’s ruined jobs, friends, family, my health (drink a lot because it’s the only way I feel relaxed around others) I Just decided to look up on RU-vid thinking no one suffered from this. I’m amazed and I’m pretty sure this is a bigger problem than we know. I’m now trying to battle the thought that I have to walk down the isle at my sons wedding and will have to dance in front of others. I will not give a speech. Sad that I’m dreading my sons wedding so much that I can’t sleep and I’m very aggravated talking about the event. I’m on anti anxiety meds but not helpful with blushing or sweating. I do feel that eliminating sugar helps some. I don’t do much caffeine as of late and am going to start decaf coffee as hoping it will help. I also feel that when I’m really cold I don’t flush. Good luck everyone!!

@@blushingphoenix ty I’ll check it out! update- my dr just prescribed propranolol- just enough to get me through this next month. I had to get through the wedding shower and it did help! No sweating or flushing! My poor son asked me if he could try it to get through the wedding as well. 😢 anxiety is a horrible feeling and I think genetics can play a part.

Thanks for sharing. I've decided to seriously overcome the fear of judgment by others when my face displays a severe blush. To my knowledge, I've had this condition since I was around 8 years old. My blushing is triggered when I'm surrounded by people that my brain somehow labels as important: co-workers, managers, or even friends and some family members. When I first meet people, I can be charming and extroverted. It's after continuous exposure to these faces (possibly after my brain develops a sense of attachment) that I start becoming more shy, extra cautious around them, feeling afraid of being criticized for, a wide array or reasons that my brain also creates. Needles to say, the erythrophobia is set off with or without a trigger, sometimes just the presence of people will create scenarios in my mind where my overthinking causes me to end up blushing and feeling the embarrassment of the uncomfortable moment. I've quit jobs because of this issue. Some people noticed that and used it to have fun by triggering it with jokes or just staring at me, individually or in group until I blushed. The embarrassment and fear were not pleasant at all. But then again, I have no control neither over my blushing nor over people. I also have walked away from potential female romantic partners out of fear of this becoming an issue during development of the relationship, which in all honesty, has also happened several times. That starts to change today. I deleted the word "hopefully" before previous line. Keep up the good work.

Another great video on this channel. As someone who has a high propensity for blushing and have suffered humiliation from it over the years, I definitely agree with the approach of fully accepting it and integrating it as opposed to trying to get rid of it. The last few years I have worked on accepting it I have paradoxically reduced it so much more than when I resented it and tried to push it away. I also agree that we have this condition for a reason as HSP, not a coincidence or painful fate we're condemned to, so it's time to see and take advantage of the gift it uniquely provides us and challenge ourselves to be fully seen and heard. A great starting point is to write out a list of all the positive aspects of being a blusher and read them every day - helped me a lot.

@@blushingphoenix That's a good idea in theory, but for someone who is fearful of blushing and trying to overcome the fear of it, what positives are there? It's very difficult to list the positives when it is the thing that has and continues to cause so much anxiety and discomfort.

Oh my gosh. I cannot tell you how amazing your channel is, and how important your videos are. This interview was so insightful and conversations like this are so necessary. I am an introvert with extroverted qualities, and I love being around people and having deep conversations, but I do fear being judged - so I am cautious about what I say. Perhaps the reason for my chest/neck flushing also. I can talk to people about depression, anxiety, but blushing/flushing??? Never before would I talk to anyone about that - because of the shame and isolation I’ve felt having the issue. Your channel has opened the door for me to realize there is a need for more community around this problem, and that even I could be a change maker for someone else going through this condition. Turning it around and offering hope in the midst of despair and isolation is a revelation. Your work is literally revolutionary. I hope we can all reach our full potential - self-actualization - by walking through that uncomfortable door, and finding freedom on the other side.

Great interview. The body language references were of particular interest. Blushing certainly appears to have the characteristic of showing up in the areas where the unconscious is signalling. Could upper torso blushing be indicating you have something to get off your chest 🤔. Have you ever noticed how our cheeks or ears frequently blush toward the same side another person may be standing in the room? Enjoying & sharing your work. 👍

Nick! Great points. I believe after 3 years on my journey with this, I definitely think my experiences are because I stopped using my voice and speaking up/saying what I need to say or censoring myself so I wouldn’t experience judgement or repercussions. My body was like- THAT’S ENOUGH!

I’m so glad I found this channel. I never knew there were so many people who struggle with this as much as I do. I first noticed signs of this in my high school years and my face used to get really really red. I’m 30 years old now and in corporate America working my way up and my flushed face has made a return! I didn’t have it during my navy years and I have no idea as to why it came back. Maybe perhaps I’ve been remote for 4 years and now that I’m back working in the office I developed some sort of social anxiety I don’t know. I also struggle with IBS and I heard your gut could also cause flushing in the face, does anyone else potentially suffer from this from a gut related issue? Also, what medications help the flushing to not happen in the first place ? Thanks

I'm getting panic and blush when everyone looking at me, like when speech, presentation. General daily talking it's ok. Even in meeting around room talk about work, when everyone all pay attention to me, right before it starts, my heartbeat fast and start getting warm, you can feel you are starting blushing and sweat. gosh, I even know, it's just causal talk, still can't stop it. after talking, all that feeling all gone immediately. Now I said yes, to back school I was graduate to share my work experience. So worried about will embarrass company. How should I do?

Also, worst thing is when you’re having a totally benign conversation with someone and the thought comes to you and then you become obsessed with “ it” not happening and focused on your own physiology and then you can no longer be an active listener. It’s like having an out of body experience waiting for your physiology to Expose you:(

There is so much shame around it. Even on this channel, I can see that 80% of people don't subscribe because they don't want anyone to know that they are seeking help for blushing. Same with my Instagram page. I get lots of messages from people who won't actually follow the IG page. People even struggle to talk about this with their therapist.
