This video made me cry 😢 I didn’t know other people experienced this. Thank you so much for making these videos. I’m tired of people constantly making fun of my face

100% how it helped me overcome this. Exposure therapy. Your brain is a muscle and the more you practice something the more it will happen on its own. What helped me was focusing on the environment and not myself. Listening to what they are saying and redirecting spiralizing thoughts into more present and positive thoughts. Now I barely ever get an episode and when it does happen I embrace it like you mentioned. Its a normal human response, the only difference with Erythrophobia is that we care and focus too much on it compared to other people. Its an obsession you have to train yourself to obsess about it less and less.

I want to note, you will probably always have the ability to blush. But you can stop caring and working on your self esteem to make it less often and severe. I blushed laughing really hard yesterday and instead of freaking out I let it come and go

Absolutely! Being human means we may blush, but it's what we believe about ourselves and the world around us if/when we blush.

I love your perspective and am very grateful for you putting your experience out there 🫶🏻 I have struggled with this since I was 9. It is such a relief to find others who share this struggle, but I still feel quite lonely. Are there any support groups or meetups you can recommend?
@blushingphoenix
@blushingphoenix 5 месяцев назад
I'm glad you're here and thank you for your kind words. Most of the support groups that I've found seem to reinforce their fears around blushing and talk about the negatives without hope for how they plan to move on from blushing. So, yes. Support groups are out there, but I find them more negative than positive. I plan to offer some coaching programs in the future for those who are serious about gaining control over their lives and moving forward.

@@blushingphoenix I used to follow 'iblush' on facebook but it wasnt helping me grow it was just giving me new fears and normalizing the obsession. I did alot better when I deleted my facebook and started to force myself into social interactions. You can start small like 7-eleven, gas station, and work up to shopping.

I'm getting panic and blush when everyone looking at me, like when speech, presentation. General daily talking it's ok. Even in meeting around room talk about work, when everyone all pay attention to me, right before it starts, my heartbeat fast and start getting warm, you can feel you are starting blushing and sweat. gosh, I even know, it's just causal talk, still can't stop it. after talking, all that feeling all gone immediately. Now I said yes, to back school I was graduate to share my work experience. So worried about will embarrass company. How should I do?

Thanks! I have mast cell which is an allergy type of disorder so I get splotchy from that but also curious to know how much is related to these other reasons but it can happen when I’m just sitting on my sofa by myself so it’s hard to tell. But either way I think some exposure and acceptance can help
@blushingphoenix
@blushingphoenix 4 месяца назад
I thought I had mast cell when I first started exploring this, but after medical testing and blood work, everything came back negative. I'm more prone to turning red and splotchy in social situations but it can happen when I'm alone too. Its rare, but triggers can be certain foods or drinks, the sun, or even a hot shower.

So out of seven billion people, only 500 million were unlucky and born with this problem , thats unfair 😢
@blushingphoenix
@blushingphoenix 5 месяцев назад
The lens that you look through will determine your outcomes. You see this as unfair and that 500 million are unlucky. Many others see that 500 million experience this same thing and feel more empowered because they are not alone. You can't always control blushing, but you can control your perspective. Are you reinforcing the victim mindset or willing to move through discomfort in order to break free?

Only in the past 2 years I've been blushing a lot. Which is odd. I'm a middle aged male. I don't have Erythrophobia though. But still it would be nice to blush less.

It's interesting how our nervous systems and bodies react to adrenaline, which creates the blush. I was never a face blusher until the past year. My cheeks turn red when I do get red.

Would you say propanalol helped you in breaking this “fear” cycle or do you think you were already mentally tough before you got the blushing and do you think if it wasn’t propanalol would you have made any progress?
@blushingphoenix
@blushingphoenix 5 месяцев назад
Yes! Propranolol helped to calm my nervous system so that I could get out of the fear loop and start thinking rationally. I believe I'm a mentally tough person before I started blushing. I stayed mentally tough even through the challenges of blushing, it was definitely dropping my confidence, but I don't like being a victim and I don't like to suffer due to my own thoughts. Propanolol gave me a 'time out', where I felt extremely hopeful that I could use a medication if needed, but also gave me the strength to realize I didn't want to be dependent upon medication. I only took Propranolol as needed for a couple of months in 2020 and haven't taken it since.
