I have played this through with the checklist on another screen over a dozen times. That process of failure has given me so much more information than is contained in this short demonstration. I could read the manual(s) until I am breaking my teeth smashing my head against the zoo of acronyms and never really understand the cadence and pace of what is expected in the checklists. While not perfectly accurate, these are a very useful and adlib more than useful of a tool. After several dozen tries, I can start taxi as soon as the Align completes and throw the switch to NAV.

Toggle Alt-c + p, and you can simply flip through the pages and follow the checklist on your lap. It's all there, you even get all the normal operting parameters for everything from FTIT, hydra press, nozzle temp, and fuel flow, to radio comm frequencies.

So, over the past year, I've been playing around in BMS, however I've been stuck using a horribly out of date laptop, that no matter how low I run the the resolution, LOD etc, can ONLY JUST squeeze about 20 FPS when in the air. (If I try to ramp-start or runway-start, the frame-rate is impossible, I can't even move the view without it jerking about 20 degrees with each frame AND I can't alt-tab even in windowed mode without crashing my machine so no chance of doing tutorials or hot swapping to the manual.) Today however, I've just finished installing BMS on my new setup, which, allows me to run at a lovely buttery smooth avg of 100fps at max resolution/detail. FINALLY, I can begin to PROPERLY learn BMS, so, other than the last year spent having fun in random "Instant action" instances, my real learning journey starts today! Can't wait to finally learn to walk before running. Your tutorials are what I am going to be using, so THANKS for this dedication to helping the n00bs. Wish me luck, and one day, I might even see you in the air! Peace!

That would make sense to me, since Korea can be cold as a witches FTIT. Sure would make that JP8 flow a bit better, and less like grape jelly, with a little heat on that fuselage. At least in winter weather anyway.

Hi Stevie, great Tutorial! Thank you very much for this. Could you show / explain how you achieved the better informations on the kneeboards, especially in later missions like flame-out landing and GP bomb usage.
@steviesgames
@steviesgames 3 года назад
Thanks! You can customize the kneeboard using Weapon Delivery Planner (get it here: www.weapondeliveryplanner.nl/about/index.html ). I might make a short how-to video on that :D

Is there a data cartridge already loaded for these missions or will I have to edit steerpoints and all of that on the map first?
@steviesgames
@steviesgames 2 года назад
The basic steerpoints and frequencies are loaded in the dtc automatically. If needed you can add additional steerpoints, threat circles, lines, etc.

The training missions are included with the game: Just click on the "Tactical Engagement" tab on the main menu. And check the "BMS-Training.pdf" training manual in your "Falcon BMS 4.35\Docs" folder.

Thanks for the training missions. Fantastic to bring an old hand up to speed. Can I ask how do you get the training file with check lists to upload to the kneeboards? I have WDP. I get the basic mission info with WDP but not the checklists. I flew BMS 8 years ago online with the 185th. My hands used to dance over the buttons. I'm Very rusty. I fly VR now. So checklists on kneeboards is a must.
@steviesgames
@steviesgames Год назад
You can add about anything to the kneeboard with WDP, it can be a bit tedious though. You have to convert each page of the checklist into a graphic file (like .png) and then add it to the kneeboard manually via WDP. Another solution that some of my VR-flying friends use is OpenKneeboard. It lets you add pdfs, and you can even jot down notes by hand: openkneeboard.com/
@Novacngood185
@Novacngood185 Год назад
@@steviesgames Thanks for the reply. WDP is fantastic, I used it a few years ago. Ive forgot most... But I don't know how to load a few images into it. While I'm still re-learning BMS. I need kneeboards with ILS approach plates and maybe a way to get the training PDF's into the sim in VR. I'll look at open kneeboard. Does it integrate with BMS easily. And more importantly wont screw up the WDP kneeboards when I'm back up to speed?
@steviesgames
@steviesgames Год назад
@@Novacngood185 for WDP click "Upd Kneeboard" on bottom left corner of the "Datacard" page, then click "Browse Picture" in the middle, choose the picture, and then set the number of the page and click the "Insert" button for the left or right side.

Don't use the BUTTONS with mouse, you can use the numeric keypad on your keyboard is much much fast and easy. Take off is you can do it less rough it allows you to waste less fuel, you take more runway to take off calmly, and you don't go too high immediately. the plane climbs gently. fly safe commander!
