Your tutorials should be included in the flight training manual. Some people learn better by watching than reading. Great work man.

I whole hardily concur. Reading a manual only gets me 1/3 of the way there. I need visual cues to bring it together....These videos helped me immensely.

This is how you teach people how to fly a sim. One hour long but with a bit of practice side by side on another PC or with notes, you will be good to go. Best tutorial evahhh!

This is awesome, thought I'd never find a tutorial in which one would explain what almost every switch does. Most people just say "do this, do that" but they don't explain what I'm really doing. Although I like reading, and the manual also explain things very well, sometimes it's nice to watch a very well done explanation video as well. Thanks for the tutorials!

This is a fantastic explainer video and I am astounded that it hasn't had significantly more views already. For anyone who's EVER dreamed of flying this thing, you make it very clear to understand and comprehend the whats, hows, and whys of this brilliant piece of machinery.

It took me one whole year to learn all these things you describe in this 1 hour video ... ! You are amazing mr Nova, and I hope your channel gets more traffic, because you are making something great here. For the newcomers, this is what you want to see before doing anything else! Really great video. Btw, I hope to know if you are planning to make a video on other Joysticks setups apart from the Cougar. Like the Saitek x52's and such. I've been having a hard time figuring out how to set it up correctly and the tutorials they have in the actual BMS manuals don't realy help me.
@supanova88
@supanova88 7 лет назад
I'm using an MS Sidewinder FFB stick. The only issue I have had is trying to replicate as much as possible the most important button positions. But obviously a Thrustmaster Cougar HOTAS is ideal.
@-_Nuke_-
@-_Nuke_- 7 лет назад
supanova For sure. But let me add here, I like the x52 more because you don't have any rudder with the Cougar. Buying the X52 you can have rudder as well and is so much easier than having pedals :P
@supanova88
@supanova88 7 лет назад
I would always recommend pedals, but a twist grip is fine if you're used to it.

This tutorial is just so jam packed witrh information. For a rookie like myself just learning the ropes on this aircraft (but in the past having trained for and completed a PPL with a fair amount of hours on prop driven aircraft) it is the dogs bollocks. Your presentation is precise, clear and informative, and put in such a pleasant way, it is well worth watching the video through several times. I have produced a checklist for ramp start on a spreadsheet for myself as a reminder, and will probably be producing more as I move through your later tutorials. To anyone else struggling with the technicality of learning to fly such an advanced sim, this tutorial is well worth the time listening too and watching it. Well done Supernova, I look forward to enjoying more of your videos. One question is, are you prepared to accept direct questions regarding training on this sim when something just doesnt seem to be working out?
@supanova88

I thought you might be pleased to know that I have cracked this exercise now and I can do it in my sleep (in fact, when I cant get off to sleep, I go through the ground proceedure. I generally get about two thirds to three quarters of the way through before dozing off. I works great. What a sad case I am!!!). I have carried on through Navigation and Landings VFR and ILS and I am content that I am now bringing the aircraft in without any damage whatsoever, which has been very satisfying and confidence building. I have been practicing these over and over again until perfecting them so I am now looking to move on to the next training package in the 4.33 List which is AAR. Have you ever done a tutorial for this particular pack. I am presently getting nowhere with setting up the aircraft to find the tanker. I have tried the AWACS positioning method and whilst quoted as 4 miles from the tanker, I just cannot find it. It would be a massive help if you could do one of your "thorough" tutorials. I have tried refeuling tutorials by others, but they are insufficiently descriptive in their step by step tuition method, and whilst I am sure they are all damn good sim pilots, they are not helping me very much. One last question I have is, should training to do this particular exercise be so early in the list in your opinion. The level of flying skill, steadiness, and precise control of throttle, I consider something that should be much later. In such case, would you recommend me moving on to another exercise such as ILS weather, DFS or Bombs until my skills are much further on before tackling the AAR exercise.

@supanova88
@supanova88 7 лет назад
You don't need to follow the complete startup as tests are not required. The required startup routine can be quite short. But it is useful to spend time understanding the complete startup procedure as that will help you to understand the aircraft.

Thanks, I'll try my memory isn't as good as it used to be. Got one more question. How do I get the F18
@supanova88
@supanova88 7 лет назад
You would need to look at the carrier TE's. I don't know if any of the campaigns use F/A 18's.

Sorry, mate, but that part at 4:10 was very confusing for me. What is FCLS Relay and how do I know it's closed? Like, I can just accept what you said, but as a beginner on the F-16, I couldn't understand what's going on very well.
@supanova88
@supanova88 7 лет назад
I should have said the FLCS relays are open and the FLCC is not connected to the battery. The FLCS relays close when the JFS switch is moved to either START position. The FLCS RLY light comes on when one or more FLCS branches aren't receiving adequate power from the battery. The light basically indicates that the system requires more power, and when the engine is started that power is supplied.
@ArcherAC3
@ArcherAC3 7 лет назад
supanova Thanks, it's a bit clearer now, although I'm still quite unsure on what FLCS and FLCC really are, pardon my ignorance and thank you again xD
@supanova88
@supanova88 7 лет назад
You don't need to have a thorough understanding of it at this point, but it is useful to know that the FLCS is the interface between the pilot and the aircrafts flight systems.
@ArcherAC3

Just out of curiosity, why would one use Dump and Ram settings on the air conditioner? Also, why is the RDR Alt set to Standby for the safety of ground crew, how can it be harmful?
@supanova88
@supanova88 7 лет назад
You won't ever need to use those air conditioning settings. Those are only applicable real world. The emissions from the radar would be harmful to the crew. Similarly you turn off the FCR when refuelling in the air to protect the tanker crew.

@ArcherAC3 7 лет назад
supanova Nice, not sure if it's implemented in BMS, but I'd do it anyway for eye-candy.

As far as I'm aware the steam version of Falcon 4.0 will work with BMS. You need to install it, then download and install BMS. You will need to register on their forum and download the installation files using a torrent client. Detailed instructions are available on the BMS forum.

You will find it hard to properly control the aircraft without at least a basic stick with integrated throttle and buttons.
