This is a tech tip video that I did for FCP Euro on the BMW E60 models. E60s have many electronic modules in the trunk that are prone to damage from water ingress. This video demonstrates what to look out for as well as repair tips.

I had to change / clean the pipes from my panorama, and the panorama isolation... It was like 50 $ and some work... The BMW wanted to charge me 700$
Yep someone had a major, “I don’t care” moment when designing this car. Had mine a week and already every drama including this. What a mess. Looks good and goes nice when it’s working. Oh well, it’s my problem now so time to re-engineer it to work. My 7 year is helping and even he knows you never put electronics near water. Dumbarse design.
Hey Kile thank you so much for you video. I add this problem a couple of months ago on my BMW 525d 2004. I already changed the modules but now I am getting some huge errors. My cluster when I am driving turns off and my Radio as well and they turns on after some minutes again and the loop repeats after some minutes.. I don´t know what is can be but this happened after water in trunk problem. Perhaps you know what this is and you can help me with some advices. If not thank you so much anyway.
And it was more like a class action lawsuit that finally got bmw To offer to relocate the modules. Absolutely ridiculous they have decided to now charge for the job to be done. Terrible design flaw!
Outrageous. Only had my car a week and the first storm destroyed the sunroof and the electronics. Luckily I’m not scared of wires! Stay well away from these models unless you have extreme patience and electronic and mechanical knowledge is my advice.

Roof drains get backed up. Definitely important to check on the drains and clean them regularly. Take all the modules on the rear floor and elevate them
