I've managed to get four of the injectors out of my E39 with a slide hammer but two of them are well and truly stuck. As a last resort, before I scrap the car, I'm prepared to buy this tool but I can't see where the two legs on the left go. There are no holes or bolts there.
Later models of the M57 have M14x1.5 thread on top of the injector so there's no need to to take the top part off. Just use a slide hammer with a right adapter and the injector comes of with ease.

how to overcomplicate m57 injectors removal. the easiest way to remove them is unbolt the 2 top 10mm nuts on the injector clamps and then with the 6square socket or 5-6mm normal socket (cant remember correctly) unbolt the bolt that huse injector clamps and with that bolt you can slowly lift the injector up with the help of the injector clamp. easy and no special tools
