I wanted to see the remote control parking. While you sit on the back seat. If you already got this car for the review, should have tried this thing out. If you say its still too dangerous, then no need to do it on public car park, just use the place u filmed the end of video in the nature or if it is dangerous, then why BMW have added this option.
Ahh you see our car didn't have it. It won't be available for a few months. But we wanted to mention it as the review will still be valid for the life of the car. We could have explained this in the vid, but it would date our review and be wordy and dull. Hope this makes sense.
+UzzyFuzzyy it doesn't need the same tech. People who buy these cars are mostly over 60 years old. And will not likely use all this stuff. People who buy these cars want ultimate comfort, and presence.
HAHAHA, ROFL LMAO. best car with a ugly face. look at ugly ass. 7er www.autotribute.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/White-2016-BMW-7-Series-rear.jpg Camry cdn.i.haymarketmedia.asia/?n=autocar-indonesia%2Fcontent%2FAll+New+Toyota+Camry+(4).jpg&w=600&c=0
Bmw is junk! All this electronic crap will fail in 5 years, like every other bmw. And the depreciation is so absurd, you will lose 80% of the value in 7 years!!
I'm not overly imprssed either with the new 7 series. A lot of the concepts and mock ups looked very good, but the production version is very dull inside and out. I also think it looks like a bigger version of the other cars in the range. Mercedes make the S class stand out from the rest of their range because of it's more bespoke nature. Another issue I have with modern BMWs is that they are gradually creeping up in price and the quality isn't increasing accordingly. Also, as others have pointed out, they aren't as good to drive as they used to be. (and before anyone asks, my previous car was an E90 325i).
I wonder how comfortable an s-class (w222)... even the comfort plus mode in this latest 7 series cant even match it, eventhough it's already extremely soft and comfortable... I could say this g12 in comfort plus mode much more comfortable than the w221 in comfort mode.
I like the 7 series I really do, it's just I would never pick it. As many say the looks are anything but special. Sure it looks fairly handsome and modern, but hardly expensive (but it really is). My problem is that the design is played out. I have a similar issue with Audi. The engineering and quality is abundant and impressive, no doubt - second only to the Benz (some areas it slightly trounces it) - and I am sure it drives extremely well, but I doubt it is as dynamic as the Jag. Plus, there's something about the S class' cache, and elegance that is worth the price. As Mat said this segment is about comfort and Mercedes is tops in that regard - and luxury.
We have been Merc owners for generations in my family but this 7-series is the best choice at this time unless you're going to sit in the rear, the S-Class being more cocoon-like and comfier yet. Drives better, looks better in SWB (personal), and definitely much better looking dashboard, contemporary and elegant vs the Mercedes' heavy design and toy-like electronic 2D fake gauges. S-Coupé also does quite better in this area in my opinion.
I like how the nightvision camera has its priorities in order. Human, vehicle or animal (yellow/red)? Alert, alert! Cyclist (white)? No worries mate, just keep going
Long time fan! Great review once again! Can i ask what camera nd setup u used for that interior shot nd other cameras u use, im a videography fan too. Really wud appreciate ur reply nd keep up the great work! Thanx
Will be interesting what you guys think of the facelift XJ when it comes along. I personally like the XJ the most in this class. But I still like the s-class and 7 series.
The hybrid version has additionally amputated the size of the trunk and the tank which goes from 75 liters to 37. Only Porsche really manages not to entirely sacrifice the tank
Great review by the team at Carbuyer and this is a very in depth look on this car and I would greatly appreciate it if you made a Mercedes ML vs BMW X5 vs Range Rover sport comparison thanks.
In person its wayy better looking, especially in m sport trim in black. Cant wait for this thing to take a depreciation hit so that I can afford it in a couple years
When is there going to be information about the 2017 A8? I love the S class, but the reviews have been pretty bad as far as reliability. This car has some fun tech, but the interior and exterior just don't seem like much of a step up from the last generation. So I'm thinking maybe the new A8 will be better than both the S class and 7 series since I like the current A8, but I can't find any info on it
Very nice that key idea was quite smart, though I would still perfer an S-Class. Now the A8 and Lexus LS are lacking but I wounder what they will with the new generations.
+c3vzn he meant to say (rightfully so) that you don't get to comment about the keys (which may lag yet advanced vs other keys) because you're most likely dirt-poor or borderline batshit crazy and won't ever seriously consider buying one of these yet you feel like you can make remarks about the key that is probably smarter than your bitch ass. Right crowbar?
Tom Yevsikov I get to comment on anything I want, that's the beauty of the internet. It doesn't matter how expensive this car is, in my observation that key didn't look very usable so I pointed that out. It appears many agreed with me, so I'm not alone in this opinion.
You should talk about the comfort of seats in your upcoming videos. The 2013 model had really uncomfortable seats and If you're going to pay more than 70,000 £ for a car, you just expect more!
If you are buying a BMW its either an X series, M series or their very sexy coupe's or their family wagons their 3 and 5 series but when it comes to Executive Sedans, NONE BEAT THE S-CLASS...PERIOD!!!
I disagree with the opening statement. The BMW 7 Series E32 was way superior to the Mercedes S Class W126 in all aspects and the 560 SEL was dwarfed by the 750iL with its 5 liter V12 300HP engine.
+FilmColumnist yes, like a Benley Mulsanne, Flying Spur & Aston Martin Rapide doesn't have gimmick tech. because this is luxury sedan!, do you know the meaning of the word "LUXURY"?
I'm a Merc guy but damn this thing is so full of tech it's ridiculous. I don't think the amount of technology in this car was demonstrated thoroughly in this review.
+chancy319 All germans F segment (or "luxury vehicles") cars look like a bloated version of it's current "mid-size cars" line (or D segment). Fucking hate that
+UzzyFuzzyy Firstly, what a load of horseshit. Everyone has the right to an opinion. Secondly, I can afford one, so guess it's just not your day for making assumptions.
They key is cool... BUT! Its heavy and bulky, so carrying it in your pocket will not be best. The screen looks a bit fiddly to operate. Honestly, having a phone/watch app doing all of that makes much more sense and is a much more elegant solution.
People forget that the s class came out a year ago and hasn't had a facelift het, where as the 7 series was just released. Considering the s class has all the features this has except for the virtual cameras and gesture screen and looks, outside and inside, ten times better than the 7 says a lot about how far ahead Mercedes is. The 2016 e class has the remote parking, something a 5 series couldn't have otherwise the 7 will look pathetic next to it
I'm not really sure why people hate the exterior so much. I think it's just much more agile than the S-class and doesn't look like a freaking UFO. In my opinion people searching for this kind of car doesn't want so showy exterior like the S-class, they want a luxury cruiser with the latest tech, not a teenage dream. And yes, I have an e38 740i myself, but I prefer this g11's exterior better. I would take this any day before the S-class.
Both the 7-series and the S-class are great cars, the 7-series looks could stand out a bit more imo. Very refined but it's rather modest., while the looks of the S-class (exterior) really stand out and show luxury. (interior) it is just just to chaoticly, seriously who likes that huge block of digital clock works and nav they just cramped in it, doesn't seem to match the rest of the interior, and the steer is just ugh
The key seems really underpowered and to have a low framerate, shame it isn't smoother operating. Also, that tablet looks annoying, right where your hand is! I'd have rathered a longer armrest in the centre so that it isn't near your hand.
+Dan The Doge If the Germans were smart, they should have employed APPLE or Samsung to develop that stuff. I cannot see the key or screen lasting long.
I have noticed rich people (multi-millionaires and billionaires) like the 7 series more. I went into Mayfair and Kensington (Central London) and there are far more 7 series than S class. I see rich businessmen get into the 7 series.
+kirbyswarp The E34 was a decent looking car, sure, but the E32 messed up the proportions. As most 7s have, including this new one. Not sure why, considering how stunning the 6 Gran Coupe is.
I was expecting this new 7 Series to be finally transformed into a genuine rival for the Mercedes S Class. And it's obvious the Bavarians have been trying really, REALLY hard. They just ended up overdoing it, though. As far as I am concerned, this car looks hideous, both inside and out. And at the end of the day, a classy look and feel is WAY more crucial than just having the newest tech on board. Tech doesn't age very well, attractive styling does.
Matt you are Omni present lmao! I still prefer this 7 series to the S class. just curious why you didn't get dressed while reviewing this car. but, you choose to get dressed on the S class review. I smell bias...
