Some of the footage where I showed how to connect the cable in this video was corrupted unfortunately so i didn't have much to work with. However, if your audio system is out here's how to fix: 1. Remove connector from Satellite Radio module (red/green/black cables) 2. Insert optical bypass loop into the removed connector 3. Voila! Done!

My audio started cutting out and crackling a couple weeks ago. I disconnected the amp and cleaned all the connections and now it works perfect. Hasn't crackled since.

It is a bad Sat Radio Module. The fiber optic audio setup is used to take advantage of its advantages like better sound and fast speed for data, but bmw used it only for the audio and some audio/Navi information. It is one loop from start to finish. A module is placed INLINE with the loop, and therefore breaks the loop and so the output is fed back out to the fiber again thru the modules output side. So if you just unplugged the Sat radio module, you would be breaking the loop. (Which is what the bad module does when normally plugged in to cause your issue). So you.must use this piece to loop the input back out to the output so it can make its way back to the main Audio Head Unit (idrive & non idrive). The HU is the start and the end of the "circular loop" around the car. The loop bypass its fiber optic connection to the defective Sat Module and fixes your issues bc now the Sat Radio module is not in the fiber loop anymore. You also will not be able to listen to Sat Radio anymore, if you did. This fix can also be done the oem way as well plus its free. It is alittle more time involved and slightly complicated, but it requires no extra parts and there are plenty of DIYs dealing with the fiber loop distribution block or sometimes called fiber add-on point. You just need to take DS rear side panel, right by where your left shoulder would be if you were sitting in the back DS seat, you will find the fiber ring distribution block. What you would do is take the Sat radio out of the fiber loop by unplugging the fiber wire running to it for input and re routing directly the output. The fiber optic cables plug in to the block. There's pics and diy's online. For example if you have an older idrive and you are upgrading to the newer cic, and you have 2 modules in the trunk like in the video, one must be removed. The cic uses one module for usb/bt/aux/internet/etc, while the CCC would require 2 modules(TCU & MULF2). So therefore you would get to behind the seat side cushion and rearrange the fiber lines properly. The black shielding around the fiber indicates one side of the loop and the bare green fiber optic cable represents the other side of the loop. Good video I'm sure this will help a lot.of people with the same problems. The Sat module is a common part to go bad and is 1k$+ new and pricey used. Most of the time water in the trunk is to blame, but not the sole reason.

im going to try this. I already replaced the TCU and my satellite radio is coming in tomorrow. My radio works but no bluetooth or nav/ sos.

I had the problem on my X1 F48 2017 model. Assume it’s software have bugs. Tested to call SOS after shows SOS system failure message, get through perfectly, which proves the system NOT failure. Used voice control coincidentally last week, the fault message disappeared dramatically, and didn’t back till today. I rarely use voice control before, have tried to disconnect blue tooth device and reconnect from other youtube video, didn’t work well. Can’t say it’s the solution, but cost nothing and worth a try.

My GOD this just happened to me last week. I knew it wouldn’t call, so I pressed the SOS button. It’called and locked everything out. Then I canceled the call, and audio and Bluetooth came back. This is just crazy. I’m going to bypass. Thank you for the video.

I own a 2017 bmw 330i Xdrive. My sound and chimes all work on my car but sometimes the SOS error pops up and the goes away. It can be there for a few mins then it goes away. It can go days to weeks and then pops up. Any suggestions on how to fix And remove this error?

I have a 328i E93. The HT conv. I cannot find the BT or SAT modules. Sound works, chimes etc. Just not BT or SAT. I do throw a SOS fault code

Just came across this video, im having a similar issue with my e90, sat nav radio, parking sensors, everything works fine apart from the Bluetooth which is throwing up the sos fault code, will this fix my issue to?

Recently bought an 08 528i. No volume from radio at all, aux & CD are also greyed out on Idrive, tried the loop bypass but nothing changed at all. Any other suggestions?

Hi, I have inserted that in my bmw but the light still doesn't come on, I don't know if it's the product that came wrong or if it's something else besides.

My SoS call failure comes up and then my microphone won't work, so others can't hear me if on call or if I try to use voice commands. Do you think this would help? Thanks

My 2007 bmw 335i coupe doesn't come with a satellite. What else can I do to get my radio to work? And I just replaced my navigation screen display. And there's no sos on my dashboard either. Can someone help me out?

I tried this and didn’t work all my speakers are still popping and cracking super loud even with the car off!

So I have a 06 BMW 330i I have sounds from my door opening, seatbelt sounds coming from turning on the car... But I have no sounds from my CCC Navigation unit. I have a new display and hooked up my phone and it plays but no sound I have the logic 7 Amo in the trunk.
