If i had a workshop I'd keep one or two old universal CD players from the junkyard with some common connectors in my workshop to just plug and test before I did anything like this to save time. Lucky you could hear the coin before digging deeper. Good video Dan.
A customer asked me a few days ago if i can replace the radio controle module on a bmw from the same year and i refuesed as i didn't find any information about how to code the unit to pair with the ecu. I just started like a year ago to fix cars as my second job and i like it. I like to take mostly challenging jobs so i can learn while i work on the car.
Every few days I go back and watch anything I have missed BISTDD. That acronym stands for before I subscribed to DD. U have a very nice family from what we c. Of course in real life u could b DD, dysfunctional Dan, but I doubt that. Having pizza with your son, fixing cars together, that’s where it’s at. Does he speak English as well as u do? U also have a sweet shop. That repair should have been around 275. Enough to pay for the pizza and give us a great tutorial on never assume until u check all the options. A real surprise!! BMW’s have beautiful diagnoses systems and short circuit protection systems built in to the machine. The only exception to this rule is the Comfort Access on the E Series. If this was a Volkswagen or Mercedes, the customer unfortunately would have bought the farm. Coins are an annoyance in Beemers. Try coins that roll around in the console of an X5 or X6 from leaving change on the cup holder sliding cover. Every time you accelerate you hear change rolling up and down your console. Good call starting at the head unit! I would have guessed wrong and started at the speaker scratching my head.

Love your video. I have a 2008 BMW 335i convertible... the audio sound stopped working. The screen works and radio channels work but no sound... to telephone sound either.... I opened the trunk on the left and saw that there was water on the antenna booster part and on the amplifier... What do you think I need to replace? Any help would be greatly appreciated! Since none of the speakers were working it was obvious that the problem must be central. So no wiring no speaker could be at fault.... very unlikely. I find it hilarious that someone's kid put some money in the cd reader :D:D:D LOL... I am sure the bill is not that amusing :D Incredible that it survived it though... I was sure that it must have failed completely :D Happy days
@@kozmaz87 Not sure I follow your point. If there had been a short in the speaker wiring I would expect the radio to protect itself by shutting down the output. So no speakers would work. Sometimes assumptions can lead us astray.
Hi Dan, would you you suggest my issue is.. BMW 3 series F30, usb will charge but not connect for music and the aux doesn't work at all. The AUX volume setting won't turn up past level 1 (which is no sound) Hopefully you can get back, thank you

I recently purchased a 2014 f30 speakers work fine when listening to radio both satellite and fm. However when I connect my phone through aux (this car has Bluetooth but not Bluetooth audio) sound only comes from the left speakers not right. In settings audio is set to play evenly between left and right. I’m not sure what the issue is also consider this is only happening with audio from my phone via aux
Hi Dan i have a 2016 BMW 428i xdrive gran coupe and my radio keeps coming on and off when it wants to I had took it to the audio guys to see what was the problem but they wasn't any help everything works speakers and all but it's like I said the radio comes on when it wants to any advice on what should I do to fix the problem
Hello dan, i have a 220d 2016 bmw i have no audio output but my microphone still works, i took the amplifier out and there is no water damage or corosion to any cables. I checked fuses and none are blown. I reset the software as well but not getting any further forward, do you have any advise or does anyone else? Speakers not blown either they intermittently came on and off over a 2 week period before it completely stopped working

Dan--ace vid. How I wish you were in London!....I cannot even seem to explain this issue to get the garage(s--plural) to try to troubleshoot. I have a 2010 Alpina Touring with the standard BMW Professional radio and I get the same problem above (no sounds at all) with several caveats--1. put in key and no power to the radio (shows complete blank screen) so no sound BUT pressing the radio power gets me the time and other non-audio functions work, 2. key in and time shows on radio but no sound and only non-audio functions, 3. key in and radio and alert sounds work fine and 4. radio and alerts work fine for a brief time (maybe a minute) and then no sounds at all BUT radio or CD or AUX input still showing on the radio display like it working. Talk about a difficult troubleshoot. Any ideas on how to explain where to start with my local garage? I am debating the Dynavin upgrade but I assume if I have a short somewhere I may come out with the same problem.

Hi Dan, Awesome video. I have a BMW F32 435D X DRIVE on 2015. It has Harman Kardon speakers. Problem: No sound whatsoever (not even seat belt sound), other than that everything works as is inc the interface, i drive and no warning sounds. Any idea? Thanks
My e90 335 with base speaker system's driver door speaker starts crackling and buzzing very loudly when going above 50mph with a window open. Other wise it sounds just fine. Any ideas anyone? All speakers have been replaced with no fix.
Seen it many times. Children love pushing coins through the CD slot. Most of the time (as with your F30) you can remove with no long term damage... But not always. Lucky escape for the customer as that audio unit is rather expensive. The other common issue on BMWs and Audis is water in the amp. The boot seal leaks and sure enough the water ends up in the amp. Some can be repaired but depends how long problem has been ignored as the water will turn into an electrolyte and eat copper tracks and components.
Hi. I have the same problem with my x6 e71. the only faultcode was usb overloaded (everything is working, except the sound). the bmw and other garages couldn't solve the problem. so i wanna ask you do you have any advice for this problem.
Very nice video. I had exactly the same problem. I had 1 cent inside the radio (kid's stuff) and this video helped a lot. But when I finish my display was not working... what can it be?
What is the software you are using for this to scan the car? I have the same problem right now, I installed BSW speakers months ago and it happened once but went away and now it has happened again and won't come back. I don't want to go through the entire car to troubleshoot blindly.
Would the FOXWELL NT510 work for troubleshooting an audio issue? i have a 2014 328i Wagon. I found that the control module in the rear of the car had salt water get to it corroding the circuit board. I bought the replacement part, cleaned off the connections for the wiring harness and I am still having an issue getting the audio to work. I have gone through and checked the fuses 3 times now, nothing is blown, and am now stuck scratching my head. I really don't want to bring it to my local dealer because they do not know what they are doing and I know this is something I can fix myself (hopefully). I am curious if you would recommend anything other than autologic since that seems like a very expensive piece of equipment for a DIYer like myself. Thanks!
@@needbacon92 the modules need to be coded. I don't think foxwell is able to do that. Parts of the audio system work with fiber optic cable, your car even has a second port to connect a scantool. It's called the MOST connection. I only know of 2 tools with a fiber optic connection that's the original bmw tool and Autologic
I've repaired many vhs, dvd players and printers that had similar issues. I would have liked to see the guys face when you hand him back the 21 cents and say "there's your problem"
hi! I do have the same problem that BMW 2013 X6 speaker does not work. I can connect to the bluetooth and the navigation also works. But, there is no sound inside the car. Where is your auto repair shop? Can I make a schedule with you to check my car ?
