Thank you very much, guys. I've been having this issue for the past 3 years, using E46 handbrake shoes on my E36 M3. My braking effort was just about 15%, just enough to pass the technical inspection, but I always wanted to sort it out for good. And I only heard rumors of welding E46 shoes onto E36 brackets, but could never find more info on it. Thank you for confirming it with a detailed video!
Wow, really nice, im wanting to do a project e36, and thinking about brakes from e46 330d, was thinking about the handbreak, this Is really good. Thanks. Saved the video 🙃
Great video! I'm about the do the swap on my E36 325i track car. Was a very helpful video to see how its done. I'm getting some adaptor plates made up for the rear handbrake shoes, but if they don't arrive i'll use your hack to make them work :)
No they are not , the curve of the shoes are totally different than the rear rotors of 330i . I think i mention that in the video , but with my english is hard to understand all :D
I know, old post; but perhaps yall know the answer. I've read on internet that the e46 330i rear trailing arms are the same as an e36 M3 but cant find confirmation on this rumor. So, do you know if the e46 rear trailing arm is the same as an e36 M3? If yes, could you not grab the rear trailing arms from a salvage yard e46 330i with the e'brake hardware, and install them on the e36?
54 is the diameter of the brake piston , 22 is the width of the brake disc . If you are talking about the front ones , if i remember right , they were 57 / 22 and the rear ones were 42 / 22 .
ok awesome thanks so much! after looking online and from what you say, i think the ones this guy is trying sell me is from a 325i. ill just keep looking for a set that say 57.25
Awesome video 👍 I have bought an e46 330 complete donor car for my e36, I have done the front brake upgrade but I'm running drums on the rear still, can I upgrade the rear using the e46 rear discs and calipers?
Actually not 100% sure , but you probably going to need trailing arms from E36 with rear discs , because you will not have were to tighter the rear brake carrier . They are not so expensive second hand so nothing scary there
@Crank Hi, I am very lost here, I’m trying to also convert but not sure if I got the right parts, as I’ve bought the hardware and expanding locks E46, Is that correct? And do you weld e36 shoe on top of the e46 or the other way around? Any input could help, thanks
Crank Do I use the E46 or e36 expanding locks? And is there anything else I would need? Ebrake cable? Thank you for your response, it is very helpful, much appreciated
