I bought a BMW E39 Touring with several problems. One of them was the rear right doors not opening from inside and outside. From inside it was the child lock engaged, from outside it was the door handle carrier broken - which caused bowden cable from door handle to the door lock not moving enough to disengage the lock. So now we will open that door first.
STEPS:
1. Detach the rear seat anchor covering.
2. Release the anchor bolts - just loosen enogh to be able to remove the seat.
3. Remove the seat.
4. Dimsount the bolt cover under the inside door handle.
5. Dismount the one and only bolt of the door panel.
6. Pull around the perimeter of the door panel to release it from all the clips. there is nothing else holding it.
7. Carefully push the door handle through the door panel to release the panel.
8. Remove the window switch cable.
9. Set the door panel aside, now it is held only by the lower lamp cable.
10. Unstick the water barrier around the door lock.
11. Push the door lock lever up enough to release the door.
TOOLS:
- small ratchet
- T20 torx socket
- inbus socket (forgot the size, sorry)
- small flat screw driver
- gloves
