BMW E46 & E39 AK90 Key Programming Attempt EWS3 EWS4

I feel your pain! I spent far too much time creating 2 keys and deleting the ones I don't own on my e36 with the AK90... First chip reader I got was just plain faulty... That was impossible to diagnose so I just made a guess that my cheap Chinesium part was junk... The next one that arrived DID work, but only after I hit all the pins on the EWS module with an emery board... My E83 has the same keys I just saw you trying to make work... I replaced the battery on one, ordered one expensive one from the dealer, and cut and programmer one... Here is where I MIGHT be able to help... I couldn't initialize an E83 key without FIRST having a working one and cycling the locks, trunk, and convenience windows/auto seat/mirrors and steering positions because there were already presets on existing keys 1,2,and 3. Once I changed the battery in the factory key and cycled it through all of the functions I had no problem initializing the other two. Might be random chance, but that was the sequence that worked for me. (I deleted the key specific M1, M2 and M3 settings on the driver seat, that also correspond to which key you are using and set the tilt/telescopic steering, mirror and driver seat positions, then initialized keys 1 through 3. (LOL I am the only driver so they are all the same but in winter I sit an inch or 3 further back to accommodate winter boots)

The level of patience you guys have is absolutely sounding. Top notch problem solving skills as well (even though this didn't end perfectly) keep it up. I really love these videos and I don't even have a BMW. I really would appreciate it if your channel got popular where I live because I suspect it would push down the prices of performance BMWs :)

I Pulled my original comment as you have enough advice I'm sure. And mine only was stating that the E46-E39 fobs battery's start failing after about 5 or 6 years and I had to put in a new one on mine about two years ago. It only worked sporadically for the door locks and windows at first but after using for a few weeks it now works perfect all the time.....CRAP Monkeys! I went and did it anyway! What a tool I can be at times! LOL. All the best to you as you go through this BS. You are amazing at keeping your cool !

When you program the keys with the ignition on when you are done programming the 2-3 keys with the hold lock and press unlock 4-5 times you need to shut off the ignition and open the door and then shut the door and then try and the keys should work .Because remember when you shut off the ignition in a E39 you still get power to radio,power windows,etc for 10 mins or until a door is open .

my AK90+ kept giving the NO PIN error.. 3 hours later, i read that some wire looms that connect to the EWS pins had defective solder joints, so i got the wiring diagram and checked it and it seemed none of the wires connected! After much frustration with the multi-meter, it seems the "UP" side that is supposed to be directed to the top of the chip (with the dot to identify it) was wrong. i tried it at another position, same.. by position 3 presto READ THE EWS instantly! So turn the chip reading thing to 3 o clock, then 6 o clock etc until it works! ALSO, the central locking worked fine but the car would not start!!! So I re-coded the key, but changed the keytype to "pcf7930/35 " not "10030a" VROOOOM!

NOTICE: YOU NEED PRESS UNLOCK AND THEN PRESS LOCK BUTTON 10 TIMES UNTIL IT PROGRAMMED TO THE CAR. To Programme remote step 1. Turn ignition one and off ounce with a working key. 2. Hold unlock button down and press the lock button 10 times. 3. locks should cycle 4. Test Key

You could jump through all these hoops or you could just rip the little chip out of the key and glue it to the bottom of the tumbler (where it's out of view). If it's a car your dad is tracking and modifying anyways this would make so much more sense. I guess it doesn't solve the keyless entry problem though.

VVDI prog, vvdi2. Solder only 1 wire. There is no need to write. You can clone, and save info for later purchases.

Just a thought, my E46 won't lock with the key I've just had in the ignition until I open and close the driver's door.

Sucks that roll racing got cancelled, was really looking forward to seeing the 17t car against the m4cs

After fighting with an AK90 for weeks trying to get a good dump of my ews, I bought an "EWS Editor" that connects via K line and it worked instantly.

What if you have the chip it says don’t read 2d47j I have this one how do you code keys for this ???

I understand this is an old video, i did program a new key on my e46, but i have a similar issue. The central locking on the new key doesn't seem to work. I initially thought, it may be a blown fuse like you said, but i noticed that my original key, works occasionally. Which is odd.. so if you or anyone has/had a similar issue like me, is there any solution for it?

The key works fine to start the car the remote works but from the looks of it you never get out of programming mode so when you go and try the key in ignition and so on you still in programming mode so it will erase all remotes. I may be wrong but that's what it looks like in video.

Could it have anything to do with the "slot number" you programmed the new keys to in the ews? Perhaps they need to be sequential for the remote central locking to work?

Boys ,,, I needz your help/advice.. So my partner got a mobile mechanic to come and change the CV joint about 6 weeks ago and they used a Snap-On scanner and cleared all the codes and now my dash is swapping from English to German, My mirrors don't point down when you go into reverse and my reverse tone no longer sounds when you get close to something.. And my battery goes flat after 2 days even after I charge my battery.. A mate said that the ECU/Control module is constantly being powered.. (Back story - replaced the alternator 2 days ago still goes flat) I had done the battery removal and leave it for 1/2 hour and put the battery back in and still does it... Is there a way to restore the ECU/Control modules back to factory.. or do I need IMPA+ and a K+D can program??

what platform? windows 7, vista or xp? apparently doesn't run on 10

I would start by seeing if the cars actually getting the rf signal with a scan tool could be the anntena

you get what you pay for 🤣🤣 by the way is good that u found ways around it, the genuine key has a soldered rechargeable battery needs battery replaced, replace the batteries on the new remotes

I've had same problem as you on my E53 and E38, and looks like I was pressing lock buttons 4 times instead 3 times. (If u press 4 times it still syncs key but wont work) Solution was: Hold unlock button, press lock button 3 times SLOWLY and release all buttons. DO NOT press lock button 4 times, cause then it wont sync but still confirms it synced If u want more keys, do not enter into programming mode with every key, you enter with first key, program first key and then just get another key and do same with other key but without inserting into car lock.

Could it be that only two remote keys can be programmed and used in the central locking at the same time?

andrew put the key in the ignition turn it one click back and forth 5 x then pull the key out click lock once then click open 5 times this is the other way to activate the central locking for the keys cheers glenn

the reason the lock cycles 2 twice it's cos one of the locks on the door is bad

e46 EWS only four keys. Maybe that´s why keys 9 and 10 didn´t work. You have to use only four position keys I think

Was the e39 style key more difficult to cut than the e46 style key?

I got my key for my E46 from the dealer and it doesn't start my car 😭 someone who owned the car before me must of got a key cut in the ews slot that the dealer uses..... Can I use the ak90 to re write the key to an unused slot or is the dealer key now useless?

Where did you order the keys from?

What you need to remember is that the key doesnt write to the ews rather the ews data gets written to the key So you dont actually need to write anything back to the ews after you write to the key. The key should synchronise the rolling code to the ews when you turn on the igniition

all doors and windows have to be shut...your window was open! Also you cycle the ignition with the original key. Any deviation then it wont work

you have bad locks at least one of them is that's why you having issues with keys

Correction. No keys gets written into the ews. 7935 does not need to rewrite back.. They fixed code transponders so keydata gets written to the chip... Anwy nice job 😅😅
