Hello. Thank you for posting this. I have e60 2005 and I have the exact issue and my mpm got fried and the display is blacked out. Question is I do see bunch of them on sale on eBay, like you mentioned you got it from there too. Are they ("from ebay") plug n play? Or do I have to get it reprogrammed from dealer? Thank you again for the video
Atif Mumtaz ... thank you for the comment. I also read on the internet they need to be reprogrammed by a dealer. However i just stuck mine straight in and it worked fine !. I would try it first. Its not going to damage it, it just wont work if it needs programmed
I’ve got this problem I’ve got new part my uncle ordered after taking it all out forgot to check if same one when put it all back :/ so have to do all again but good can move it all out and to same place as you :) so if this one is fine I also have the green on the socket it plugs in to ? What do I do ? Can I clean it? Cheers
Ok cheers mate am not to savvy when comes to electrics :/ ha what type of stuff is that like and acid ? I’ve got some Emory paper gonna try that and I’ll clean it I plugged new one in didn’t change anything of the faults so hopefully my uncle has got the right one as he did go under to find out what it could be so hopefully company give him the right one but they did charged him £90 for refurb one :/
Did you have any codes pop up? ABS? Transmission malfunction? I washed my car and suddenly multiple lights & similar electrical issues popped up. Thinking this might be the issue.
Hi. No I didn't have any codes. It is worth checking around the battery area and fuse box as you may have got water in via the back light cluster. These cars are terrible for battery low voltage issues. It may be with the cold weather your battery is shot. Just because it turns the car over and starts it doesn't mean it's good enough for the car .. ie the electronics. Try cleaning both battery terminals first and charging the battery.
@@Planefix1I just put in a new battery so I don't think it's that. I'm thinking it might be a bad alternator. Taking it to the shop tomorrow! Wish me luck!
@@alexisperez1997 it may still be the battery connections. On the positive there is actually a link with an explosive charge in it designed to blow in case of an accident. UK cars had this changed in a BMW recall. I took this apart and cleaned it and it fixed my airbag lights
@@alexisperez1997 did you fix this. My e61 is doing the same thing after rain last night. Found one of the sunroof drain lines was blocked. Covered the battery in water.
Hi. I have a problem when I open the left door, than from my speaker and sobwoofer starting some strange noise and cracking and only left sobwoofer is dameged, the other is ok. That hapends to me three times. Can you help me please? Thank you.
I have a 2008 E61 535d and would be happy to relocate my control modules to the left hand side storage location if it were not for the fact I recently experienced flooding of this exact location. I had a bunch of things in that area such as an electric tyre pump, spare bulbs, fuses and a roll of blue workshop paper and it all got soaked. Not quite sure of the cause but I cleaned the pano roof drains and they all seemed fine. I'm more inclined to just drill a precautionary hole in the spare wheel well to allow any accumulated water to pass through. Obviously protect said hole against corrosion etc.
I often had lag on the idrive and it would appear to lock up, then unfreeze 10 seconds or so later, but i just put this down to slow processing .... i also had the radio just muting for 10 seconds or so then coming back on. I think that was more to do with the power on and off. Hope this helps
Hi Michael. It's hard for me to say this without seeing, but yes if the wires are all green and corroded they will need to be cleaned or repaired first.
I don't think so. This is most likely caused by high resistance in the seat belt firing cartridge. The most common fix is to remove the battery terminals and clean them, then refit. You will need to clear the code with a reset tool though as it 'latches' in the memory. Try this first. If that fails you may actually have a real fault or a wiring damaged issue. Hope this helps.
3 Years old I know, but the passenger restraint issue is the O2 Occupancy sensor, something like that, used to have it written down. It's a part that was a recall, but sadly that recall is now past dated. Saw somewhere on YT a workaround for that.
Hey, can you please update me on that? I have the same issue with my e60, and I got the used mpm from the junkyard, apparently it got different part number, and the only thing that works with it is the radio.
Hi, battery drain is a possibility as it it a power delivery module. How much power drain i am not sure as this may depend on the fault. In my opinion, you can drive safely without it working. I personally drove around with mine swimming in water for around 2 months before i found the problem !. kind regards David
@@Browngeezer .... I actually ran my car with it removed for a few weeks while I waited for the new one from eBay. I had no problems locking the car etc
My car is draining the battery overnight. Possibly this Micro power module MPM is the cause Fuse#54 on E60 530i. I just replaced another MPM and didn't program it yet. I will update here if it still drains the battery.
Daughters friend had a unit that had blown, locating it in the bottom of the tyre well seems a deliberate design issue that has since been relocated by BMW. Why they didn’t do a product recall puzzles me.
I just brought 1 & damn, my numbers dont match & they are not going 2 take it back... cause I connected it 2 my car & threw the package it came in away... I'm talking advance auto that is.... so that's the reason why it's still not working smh...
@@Planefix1 oh okay i think they actually changed stuff up after 04 and 05 to a different design for the e60s for this module idk if they got rid of it or put it in a different place but im finding this out because mine got wet and im looking for parts cars online
Hi. I have the same issue, but noone can help. Given a 2006 E61 525D. After heavy rain (I parked in a garage, so i didn't drove it in the rain, just after it stopped) I started the car, went with it 2-3km. Then I stopped it and after 2-3 minutes I started with it further and brought out 6-7 errors. From tire pressure sensor error to start stop assistant, transmission error (It has an automatic, and it doesnt make the job, stays in 3rd gear with the trans light on), anti-rollback error, driver safety assistant error... If it stands for an extended period of time (e.g. 1day) and I start it, everything disappears until the next start. I've been to a lot of mechanics in the last 2 months since then but everyone says they don't know what's wrong. Since then, the car has discharged the battery once to completely zero. With a new battery, it wanted to start very badly at first. Now it brings out the faults at every start, the power steering does not work either. Randomly turns on the rain-sensing wiper itself and wipes itself for 2-3 minutes, it varies.
@@heavygamer7053 you need to unplug the unit and open it up. Just becasue there is no water there now, doesnt mean there hasnt been in the past. Unplug the unit and look for corrosion etc. Of course it may be dry, but just have gone faulty anyway!?
