BMW E70 X5 50i with Magnaflow Exhaust 

Have had the 50i for 6 years, 55k miles in and no problems yet!

Last reliable engine was N62B48

As much as I love the sound, I'll admit it's a little obnoxious on cold start. Other than that, it's not bad at all. It is possible to keep it quiet with a light right foot. But why would you want to with an exhaust note like that? With the help of a welding buddy, this exhaust set up was a little under $500. Well worth it.

I don't remember, they were just off the shelf mufflers welded in place of the rear muffler box.

Just the stock wheels it came on. 19s or 20s I believe. After a severely bent wheel we got a new set.

Yeah very normal on this cars but won't hurt them as long as you keep adding oil

Nope. My best guess is the seals in the turbos. The N63 V8 is not a reliable engine. This one in particular has 85k on it. It's on its third set of turbos and second set of heads. Most recently at 80k, the whole engine was torn down and every gasket and seal was replaced due to excessive oil leaks. All covered under factory/extended warranty. It does sound good though.

I have the same vehicle, Most of the time the culprit is actually the rubber valve seals. They start failing thus letting oil into the combustion chamber. Resulting in carbon buildup, general oil buildup, etc. And to replace them its a bitch since its a dohc bmw.

Vic Garrison: Dude i need to know how reliable is this car? I am getting a good trade-in deal on my "RELIABLE" Infiniti M35 for 2011 X5 50i M edition. X5 Has 65K with 4 previous owners. I really like it but too scarred about being in the shop every other month. Also the tires will need to be replaced but wondering staggered with 315's will be over a grand.

I wouldn't recommend it. The X5 featured in the video is my father's car. He bought it from the dealer with 10k on it. Without the extended warranty he'd be in the hole big time! Everything so far has been covered by the warranty and my father doesn't mind driving different loaner BMWs while the dealer is busy routinely tearing the thing apart.

I'm not sure. We bought them over five years ago. I took a look on Tire Rack and it doesn't look like they sell the same wheels anymore.

Thanks for the response. Picking up a 2013 50i in a few days, and I really like those wheels you have. I saw them on another X5. I cant seem to find the style, and I didnt think they were factory.

Yes. Pretty much the worst BMW ever made in my opinion. But it sounds bitchin' and is fast as hell.

It was custom made, so it isn't a specific aftermarket system.

Truly Motors I see, sounds very nice! Do you know of any after market slide on exhausts for this particular car? I’d rather have a slide on then cut the exhaust that’s why I ask.

@@thesally125 I'm sure Dinan makes an exhaust for it. But my advice would be to find a reputable exhaust shop and have them fab up a system for you.

You're not wrong, but a Toyota isn't going to sound that good. For whatever reason BMW has never been able to make a reliable V8. This X5 is on its second engine now; under warranty of course!

@@TrulyMotors Toyota made a V8 . It's in 4th gen 4 runners. They don't have it anymore and it's no where near the power but........ It's reliable as hell. I would like an x5 but it's seems BMW only wants their cars to last through warranty times. Just like rovers.

@@tdmjason BMW's Inline 6 cylinders are still top notch and last as long as they're properly cared for. I haven't had a Toyota myself but I know they're bomb proof. I have to disagree about Land Rovers though, at least some of them. We had a 2005 LR3 and after 7 years of beating it to death with zero issues we replaced it with a 2012 LR4 which has also had zero issues for the past 6 years.

да эти моторы очень не удачны, миллион проблем и все жрут масло. Можно откапиталить, но это дорого встаёт, и смысла покупать авто с таким мотором нет. Сам езжу на 53 4.8iS с N62B48 и тьфу тьфу тьфу работает как часики и никаких проблем )) и звук гораздо лучше чем у турбо 4.4 , потому что у меня атмосферник и звук реальный, благородный прям.
