Great video Dr. Dean! I love this level of technical content! I wish I had sound via USB in my 135i. Interestingly my US spec '09 E82 came equipped with a dual Aux/USB connector, similar in appearance to the one you've got, but the USB port only supplies power for charging; no sound input. I've been getting by plugging in a Bluetooth transceiver to the Aux port all these years. I gather my head unit is probably the same as the one you've got. Please correct me if I'm mistaken. In any case I'm very interested in seeing which head unit you'll select to finish this retrofit. Thank you!

Hey I have it installed from factory on my E87 2008, but USB is not shown in my BMW Proffesional audio sources, there are only FM, AUX and CD. What can it be?

Hi Dean when you fitted your pro radio with bluetooth did you have a code fault ABEC for incorrect aerial ?

Have you seen how utilities contractors replace cables. By pulling a blue rope through using the old cable. Attatch it the new cables and pull though. Would I be able to pull a cord through with the aux lead. Attach the aux and usb cable. And not remove the centre console?. Or is the aux cable anchored down?.

Hi, I’ve got an F20 with the usb & Aux in armrest box but l want to add another usb in the glovebox, can it be done ?l have business radio and have a blue port free in the back of the radio.

When you buy an aux and usb kit and halfway through you realise there's no plug for the usb at the back of the head unit $%&# 😫😤😡

I have an E88 2010 135i M Sport Convertible and have been using the auxiliary into a Dragonfly Cobalt D.A.C. Into the Lighning connectivity for my iPhone 13 Pro using the Sirius XM App. Sound is great. It’s digital conversion upgrade using the dragonfly cobalt which is a $325.00 micro-amplifier. But it’s a lot of maneuvering and having to take eyes off the road which is not all together ideal. 😬😳 but the sound quality is better than average. My question is if I upgraded the USB & AUX to a stereo or high definition USB and then run the cable to my professional BMW radio wondering if that particular radio has the USB connection on the back of it. Does anybody know?? I also looked into retrofitting my car, which is already pre-wired for satellite radio but the cost was off the charts. I think somebody would know how to do that here in the states but these dealerships don’t want to bother with all the labor intensity. I really enjoyed your video by the way and sorry for the long message. I tend to get very wordy, but I have great need for cruising and listening to music. I wish BMW had made it easier and included everything upfront with the one series from 2008 to 2010. I prefer the N54 over the N55. My mechanic who works on lots of different models have said stay away from the N55. He fixes one or two weekly. The N54 (which has it’s own issues, but not as many) is my preference. In a perfect world I would pay three grand and just have it already done professionally but I’d rather do it kind of like what you have shown in your video. I would just like to know if the current BMW professional radio that came in my model has that USB input on the back of the head unit? That would definitely save some time. Of course the guy who sold me the car and older gentleman said don’t worry about the damn radio just drive it like you stole it and enjoy the weather and the cruising ability because nothing drives like a BMW. Well I’m a music for the . fanattic so I need my tunes. Gotta hear my RUSH, Van Halen, and Pink Floyd..! No BMW/No Car 🚗 😎🤟🏻
