I replaced my front left sensor and now have an air gap error. The original sensor had a washer so I reused it. Could this error be the result of the washer and the sensor is not close enough to the reluctor ring? When installing the new sensor, it didn't appear to be seated as well as the old one. So I don't know if the air gap error is the result of that (or due to the washer).
I don’t have any experience with the front reluctor pick up. If you remove the washer it could help particularly if it did not seat properly. If it is rubbing it will look shiny where it touches.
I'm having same problem on my 2010 model. I want to try this method but how is the best way to determine which Tyre has the problem? Sensor triggers when driving straight and turning so don't know which sensor is acting up?
There is no easy way. I bought a Creator C310+ Scanner which confirmed it was LH rear sensor. I had previously got a dealer to repair the RH side so I was sure it was the LH side. Putting the washer in confirmed it was the LH side. If I had no code reader I would have had to do one at a time to find which was producing the fault. Eventually both will go. You need to rescue them before they also destroy the sensors which costs about €50 each.
@@MrMaximo10 I agree. One tends to go before the other but they both will be in very bad condition. Trying washer alternately may narrow down the faulty one but best to gear up and replace both.
@@spireworx8314 BTW the washer only needs to be thick enough to stop the sensor rubbing. Too thick and it might cause a misreading error. I had that washer to hand and it worked.
@@billebrill8730 I think if it's too thick, you'll just have some variation of a DTC warning/ABS permanently on since the car probably knows that sensor is producing wrong readings (if its too far to sense anything). Gonna try this washer fix as a temporary thing, will have a go at getting the ring off. Cheers!
