Things to consider The DME box on the botom requires the battery disconnected for 1 hour before removing it to prevent damage. Check to see if your obd fails to connect to the system as this points to that DME box at the bottom or the fuse box. When changing the fuse box check to see if the connection links are the same configuration at the back of the box. Everything goes through the DME Electrical. If you change it, it will require programming to your vin. I presume you have checked your fuel pump and pump relay unit mounted behind the back seat side panel. Other faults. The car stops and won't start .go to the battery negative and remove the battery sensor wire. It may start. Sounds like the DME to me if the fuse box is good.i hope this is useful.

First check your ground strap, if you remove the driver side wheel u seen put your hand behind the rotor and brake and if you see a green thick wire, grab it, it is likely broken, first that wire needs to be replaced. then you can continue and do the B+ wire repair. what happens is - the ground strap corrodes and becomes green and brittle, breaks, you lose your solid ground and negative terminal, if its l;ike that for too long, it will arc the B terminal in the fuse box and weld itself to the fuse box. If you replace your ground strap before it breaks, you will likely never experience this issue.

I have a question sir, I’m not getting power to the radio fuse. If I replace my 335i fuse box does it have to be from another 335i exact?
@barrettgarage1088
@barrettgarage1088 2 года назад
No it does not have to be exact they didn't make different style fuse boxes to fit each submodel they made one to be like a one size fits all to save on manufacturing cost and then each car is pinned specific to the accessories available on the car

@barrettgarage1088
@barrettgarage1088 Год назад
Sounds like that is the issue. I'm an electrician by trade and I've seen boards have power in places and none elsewhere but looks good. Problem was oxidized metal or corroded causing it to not conduct very well and these cars do have issues with the fuse boxes developing dead spots.

Hello. My 2007 bmw 328i lost all power. Mechanics said that it might be the alternator. My battery is only 3 weeks old. When we jump start it…it starts but the dash screen is completely out. However once the car is running for a few minutes…the control screen goes back on. The other mechanic that looked it over stated that it might be a power (electronic) issue. I wanted to know if you were having the same problem as I did.
@barrettgarage1088
@barrettgarage1088 Год назад
I did not but I am an electrician I will say it sounds like corrosion or wear in general has the fuse box building resistance not allowing power to flow through like it should I would check the fuse box.

Thank you for getting back to me. Prior to my dilemma. The dealership had to change a recall on pcv. When they were working on the recall issue…they said that I had some leakage on the valve cover and oil filter housing gasket. Once the recall was done I took it to a smog shop which of course failed because the car just got worked on. I went ahead and drove off trying to get to at least 50 miles in order to get things situated and ready for a retest. This is when I noticed that my AC started to go on and off. Then different warning lights went on. ABS, transmission, brake, engine light, and flat tire sensor. Then the car completely turned off by itself and I could not even get it to start. It was not turning at all upon attempts to restart. I had it towed and then had the car battery jumped to get it off the flatbed. We dropped it off at a local auto shop. The weird thing is that it still started the next morning. They told me that they could not find anything wrong with the car aside from the battery being drained. They said that it might be the power box. I tried to drive it a few miles and noticed that the control screen is out for the first few minutes and the turned back on. Upon returning home, I removed the battery terminal per mechanic advise and we were afraid that the battery would be drained again. Have you ever encountered something like this? Thank you
@ejscience9107
@ejscience9107 Год назад
Do you think it’s the power box? Or could it be related to the leakage noted by the dealership? I actually thought perhaps something was not connected back when the recall or the smog was done. Is that another possibility?
@barrettgarage1088
@barrettgarage1088 Год назад
@ejscience9107 I don't want to falsely diagnose your car off of other issues but I'm sure it has something to do with that fuse box so that's where I'd tell you to began looking.

hi. my car dies now and then. i have to hit the fuse box and it comes on. does the cable have to be replaced or just tightened. if it can be?
@barrettgarage1088
@barrettgarage1088 Год назад
I would replace it it seeing as it's been loose and arcing your gonna have burnt spots and corrosion on the terminal end plus it's fairly cheap to get the end of the wire and just replace it to call it done so the problem does not arrise in the future.

Check the connection on your oil level sensor in the bottom of the oil pan its part of the bsd line components it will cause the ibs to kill power to the dme if it's not registering which will cause the cas system to act up like keeping your key locked in the ignition

getting that screw out is easy. i cant get it back in though, it requires me to shine a light to see the hole, push the fuse box in, hold the blower down. What helped you brother?

I would go back and double check my connections mine didn't want to do anything either when I took it out for this but I unplugged all the everything and plugged it back in and it worked I guess I didn't have a good connection at first and yours may be the same way. If that don't work I'd start tracing wires to see where my loss of power is.
