Replacing the Muffler Control Valve Actuator Clip on my 2013 BMW 328i X-Drive. 00:00 Intro 01:54 Old Ikea Fix 02:31 Terrible Exhaust Noise 03:17 Installing New Clip 04:28 Summary / that__james__guy / that_jamesguy
I had to remove the control valve actuator and pry the clip in. Then I wrenched it back and started the engine and fell into place. That last tip really worked. Thank you!
Dude! After experiencing the same frustration for over an hour, I tried what you did, and it worked! Can’t believe it, but it really worked! Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for this vid. I ordered the clip for my car after getting suprised w this lawnmower sound. I just got my f30 a week ago w tons of compliments from coworkers. This issue just presented itself today in front of all my coworkers too embarrassing me . Regardless to say even though I ordered the clip I knew I couldn’t live with that ungodly sound so I wrapped tie wire and crimped it to have enough tension to securely hold it open for now. Honestly I did such a good job I can leave it as is but I already ordered the clip off Amazon anyway thanks for the good explanation. I’m contemplating sharing with RU-vid how I wrapped the tie wire which costs perhaps 5cents worth for a semi permanent fix.
Yep - this is the trick. Thanks for posting this! Surely saved me a lot of time, I was done in 15 minutes (it was still annoying positioning it just right to fall into place)
Thank you for this video, I was also having the problem where the clip was not lined up, after lining it up the best I can and starting the car up it popped right in, you saved me a lot of time.
Man, I was getting so pissed until I saw this. Got it wedged in there and turned the car on! Thanks for letting us non-mechanical types figure this out!
Can’t thank you enough for this video. I tried all kinds of things… via forums and other videos but nothing worked. One suggestion was to force turn the actuator to match the valve on the exhaust. DONT DO THIS… ended up destroying the actuator.
I love attending the university of RU-vid lol I learn so much, I wonder how much bmw would charge for this, I just bought a 2019 330i and it makes that same noise on start up but goes away after idle I’m gonna try fixing it myself thanks
I snapped one of the bolts to get the actuator off. That wasn't going to happen so I spent 45 minutes trying to get it in by hand. No dice. Did this and bam it went in.
@@that_jamesguy mine is a mix of the door locks, center console rubbing on the drive shaft, and the hand brake lines also rubbing on the drive shaft. Next time I got to my mechanic and I can get under the lift I'll zip tie those. Bootmode the flap so it's always open and that problem is solved lol.
Open. I had to think about it. 🤔 It closes when you first start the car, as you can see in the video. But it can only go one way, so you don’t have to worry about putting it on incorrectly.
