i tried this technique today on my Bmw & it worked perfect, I was a little nervous at 1st in case i f**ked it up but ur Technique made it easy peasy 👌🏼, thanks for the video mate.
Thanks! I would say..1. Make sure you use 3M or another high quality double sided tape (you don't want it to fly off) 2. Clean the area well (I used alcohol and it worked well) 3. If you can, do it on a warm day and try not to get it wet for a few days. Other than that, I recommend using tape as a guide to make sure that you line it up good. Thanks!
Good video. Color-matched mine to my white F30 and love the way it looks. Of course it's supposed to rain the next few days so am only able to dry-fit it for now.
you don't peel all the red tape backing. you peel the small tip of them and put back the spoiler on the trunk. once it's perfectly positioned, you pull out the red tape backings while the spoiler is in its position.
Pav W I'm not doing it for looks because I'm not a ricer. I'm doing it because a lip spoiler eliminates rear lift and improves aerodynamics(lowers your coefficient of drag) by eliminating the turbulent air at the end of the car thats created by the shape of a car. That swirling at the end of a spoilerless car creates lift. A spoiler eliminates this improving high speed stability, your fuel economy, and acceleration at speed.
i live in chicago and i have followed these steps plus using a temp gun and adhesive promoter like 7 times and each time the f* thing comes off when its too hot/cold outside so i just used silicone instead of the 3m
Nice. I just bought a white 328i with the sport package, so it has black mirrors, black grill, black exhaust tips and a black trim piece on the rear bumper, and I'm thinking about a black spoiler lip to help set off the rear end.
Planning on installing a similar lip spoiler on my Mazda 6. The spoiler comes with 3m tape but I'm guessing I should get some more and cover the entire underside of the spoiler right?
2 things. 1- I wish you were closer to where I lived because I would have you do everything to my car as you make it all look so easy. 2- Is this really that secure, or am I just being paranoid? I would be afraid of that getting ripped off in the car wash. Looks great though!
Thanks for the video. I was wondering how the spoiler is holding up? I'm going to be in the market for a spoiler soon and was curious about the ones on eBay.
Thanks so much for your video. It's so helpful ! I just wonder if we Repaint the Car , Should we take off ? If we take off can we buy any alternative 2 sides Stickers to Stick the Spoiler Again ? Many Thanks
Hi, Thanks! Sure, it's not too expensive and it is reversible. Worst case, you could probably leave it on and the dealer most likely wouldn't say anything. You can get the lip for about $100
usually dealers dont even look too closely at lease returns espically if u are getting something new from them. a nice added lip wouldnt even be noticed
hi brian, im going to but a lip spoiler similar to yours. Is yours gloss black finish or carbon fibre? I hear the gloss black ones can mark when cleaning? What do you think would look best?
I've put one black m3 on red 320 then black 330d and now the same spoiler on my dark blue 335d xdrive and done the same with the black grill 3 3 basic when I do jobs myself feels like there going to fall off I underestimate myself .ALWAY HEAT THE 3m TAPE A BIT TOO
i just plasti dip my rims with vht clear coat they look pretty sick i have a question how much did you pay for your spoiler exactly thanks because i saw all different prices thats why I'm asking how much was yours thanks.
Hey man I noticed you got cream interior, what percentage are your tints? I have a red version of your car with cream interior and trying to figure out what percentage tint I should get since (I think) it gets lighter during the day cause of how the cream reflects with the sun during the day, thanks man!
+Kristy Hor Hi, I actually got it on ebay. I posted the seller's username and also some links to the ebay page and his website in the video notes. Hope that helps..
Hello! The BMW install instructions have you change the tension spring from position 1 to position 2 after you install the spoiler. Do you know why is that recommended? Why the tension spring? I cant find any info on this. thanks
Kies Motorsports thanks for the reply. But i still have two more questions if you don't mind? I figured it was for something like that, but it is to account for the extra weight due to its heavier on the springs to open the trunk? OR because it's harder for the springs to close it? Lastly What's the easier way/right way to get to the springs without mistreating the inside liner? Thanks again, a lot.
Is this the “m4 style” ? Have been searching online but they don’t really show how they look on the car, want this one, this one is thin and look nice and others look bulky 👎
Hey man, nice vid! i was wondering what your spoiler is made out of? I've been told that fiberglass doesn't work well with 3m tape, was wondering if yours was polyurethane or fiberglass.
+Jason Xin Hi, thanks for watching. Yes, the tape is super strong. It's 3M automotive tape that you can get it most places. Here is a link www.walmart.com/ip/16913678?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=78&adid=22222222227024071857&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=t&wl3=42974108792&wl4=&wl5=pla&wl6=81466116752&veh=sem It costs around $7-$10 USD for about 5 feet. As for the spoiler, there is a link in the description that will take you to the eBay listings and the sellers website. Thanks!
No problem. My spoiler had some double sided tape on it, so I just added extra. I think it should be enough if you're using it to add to what's already there, but you may want to pick up an extra roll if yours doesn't come with any. I'd rather have too much over not enough..
