BMW Ambient lighting, Increase brightness possibility? Yes you can!
With this very easy and not expensive mod , you can make Ambient Lighting Brighter by replacing the original lights inside the door and backseat cards. These LCI LED lights are much brighter and make the car look much better at night. As Always I am trying to make improvements using only OEM parts.

Hello, very Nice job, please is it the same reference for the f33 , and the reference is the same for the 4 Doors? Rear ones arent smaller? No solution to have more colours than White and amber? Thank you !

Hi! Yeah the part number is the same for 4 doors as well, I am not 100% sure about the grand coupe, but I am willing to bet that they are. This OEM solution won’t have more than this 2 colors. However I am working on a retrofit with an nbt evo that has more than 2 colors to select, so I am going to try to retrofit multicolor lights... but that will be a future project.

I just changed these out and they don't appear brighter than the ones that came with the car. Weirdly enough, I almost think they're dimmer than the ones I had before for some reason. No idea why

Hi. Very good intrudiction. I have change it on all sites, but one optical fiber has broken and can’t be fixed. I have buy a new one (right front door), but don’t now, how I can change it. Have you an idea?

You have to remove the door card and from the inner side of the card you have to pull the fiber optic towards the back, if is broken it’s really easy. Just be careful placing the new one in. Try to slide it in instead of push it in from the top into the channel

Hi, no I haven’t found the way to install the multicolor LEDs from an x5 yet, but I did find the option to enable them on idrive, but it is still in early stages of R&D. The front door trim removal I haven’t done it, but I will do a quick one about that. For now I am working on the windshield replacement

I change the modules today.. i found that i already have the same references even with having f33 not lci , but i changed them.. but there is 0 difference it's not bright at all, it's bright near the module but the optical fiber it's like there is no light.. what can be the cause ? Thanks

That is weird, do you have a f32 as well?? The only thing I can think of is that maybe the plastic light tube under the trim might be broken or pushed in too much??

Do the footwell lights also change from pre-LCI to LCI? Or is it just the lights in the door panels as well as the radio/HVAC panel?

I kept my Footwell lights original pre-lci. They do change however I did switch them with a friend’s lci lights and the change was barely noticeable.

I was working on my drivers door card and had it connected and the door panel dropped and it snapped the plastic/acrylic line that runs the light anyone know how to replace it?

Basically you need to pull it out with a pick tool, and replace with a new one... gluing it won’t work. Since the light won’t go through... don’t ask me how I know that...

I would try Fcpeuro, Schmiedmann or ecstuning if you want new for cheaper than the dealer. That of course depends on where you are located. Try junkyards or eBay as well. Might get lucky

Regarding PRE-LCI ambient lights for the center console.. Is there a way to source the door panel ambient light to the AC/Radio trim lighting area?

Hi, sorry I don’t follow… you want to put the light inside the doors without the plastic light ring around the radio trim?? Or put the lights instead of the light on the plastic ring

@@DorksandBolts my apologies as well .. I want to remove the OEM AC/Radio trim and install a new one that has ambient lights. BUT the issue is.. there isn't a light source.. (I'm assuming it is because I don't have LCI... If you look above your cup holder, there is a piece that reminds me of an ashtray... anyways, there is a hole & holder for an accent light (LCI).. Mine doesn't have that electrical wire (PRE-LCI).

@@jameshickam1787 oh I see… yeah so you don’t have the interior light package, it is possible to do it, but you’ll have to wire it all the way from the FEM and code it. Do you have the lights on the doors??

@@DorksandBolts yes.. I have ambient lights in the door.. which doesn’t make sense. I also use BimmerCode, so coding isn’t an issue. So is there a wiring hardness adapter available? Thanks

@@DorksandBolts yes, I have lights on the doors and ambient lights by the driver and passenger feet. I DO have LCI.. I had to google what LCI meant.. I purchased the cup holder light/wire, now I have to figure out where it will plug into.
