@@Rayk76 Both of them have capabilities that I like so I'm 50-50 on both of them. They are top notch bikes. I like the feeling of riding the Ducati V4 engine a tiny bit more as the Boxer engine from BMW. When it comes to comfort , looks , handling both bikes are just so much fun to ride. The Ducati is just a little bit more thrilling to ride because of the engine. 😀 But I almost bought the 1300 Trophy when it came out 😛
Sorry for making you burn your leg 😮. Thanks for the shout out. I’m pretty specific on the content I watch but I can tell you, your on air personality is off the charts 🎉
BMW has a way of making extra weight disappear on their (heavy) bikes. I've had a K1100RS, R850RT, a 1200GSA and now a K1600GTL and they're all heavy bikes, but as soon as you start riding, the weight magically seems to disappear. You feel the weight when doing low speed turns, but never to the extent that you got the feeling of fighting the bike. It's all very smooth. The engines too; lots of torque at low revs, always ready to get off. People who never ridden a big BMW won't understand. You really got to ride one to appreciate the easy handling. Also, lots of people misunderstand the GSA in general, or maybe better: have a wrong expectation of it. It's a travel enduro. Probably the best allround touring bike BMW has. You can travel long distances very comfortable and fast, take a lot of luggage and two up is no problem. What the offroad aspect concerns: yes, it's a heavy bike, but what do you want? Do you want to cross the desert, do hardcore offroad over tiny single tracks? Then the GSA is probably not the right bike. BMW never meant it to be that bike. It's a bike that can do a lot, probably more than the average rider can do. I've seen guys take a GSA through deep sand without a problem, so the bike it not the problem in most cases. The GSA enables you to travel comfortable and take on many road types, you can go throught the forest and whatnot. You can do that on basically every bike, but for rough terrain you need ground clearance, a bash plate for protection and good suspension travel. The GSA is perfect for it's purpose, even if you never plan to go offroad. Most people with a S1000RR never take it to the track. It's not mandatory, is it? You can travel with a RT too, but the GS(A) gives riding that extra dimension, and takes the potholes a bit better...
I mostly agree. My beef with GS, as with pretty much all adv bikes is budget suspension and too little travel, resulting in harsh ride over anything bigger than 3cm bumps. Both my Africa twin and GS suffer this, but GS more. It feels on bumps pretty much like road bike, like it have 10cm of travel which is weird because on paper it has almost the same travel as AT
Thanks for sharing Smokey. Hotel looks incredible. Have fun and be safe. Looking forward to learning more about new missing clutch lever for BMW bikes.
Smokey, great vid! Two questions: 1. Can you ride 3-5kmh on 6th gear in manual? Or will ASA shift down to lower gears? 2. Can you fev to cut off in manual? Or will ASA shift up?
Yeah you can shift up as you want , but the system will take back over quickly if it doesn't like how it feels 😁. You can set it to manual to and turn off the automatic shifting
Okay, I have a question. I have an NT1100 2024, and this adventure bike has really caught my attention to the point that I’m considering buying it. I’m primarily a road rider. I’m very interested in how it handles wind protection with the windshield at higher speeds. I’m 184 cm tall
Hi Smokey, did you do reviev of alpinestars suit that you wear? I am interesting to buy it, but would like to hear your opinion. Great job by the way! 🤘🤘🤘
Hey there Smokey Wish you could make detailed comparison between the new Triumph tiger 1200 rally explorer and the new BMW 1300 gsa. Would be great to hear it from a pro like you. Looking forward for the video
Buona strada ✌🏻
Nice bike, interesting test of new ASA system. Weird, would definitely have to test myself before I changed. I don't need the extra weight and fuel. I'd stick to regular GS. What else is added? It's ugly but you cant tell when your riding it. 😀
Idol have a nice shoutout from Philippines I’m Ricky Bacornay! Who’s dreaming to have the 2025 BMW 1300 GSA but suddenly i can’t do that now because i already PWD PERSON WITH DISABILITY a survivor of marawi siege last 2016. I’m happy to see your vlog and only dreaming someday can i have a picture with you. Big thanks.
I have 2018 AT DCT and now bought 2014 GS just to compare them and still can't decide which is better I think it's impossible. Both are better are other things. At suspension better for off-road, GS better for road. I guess it's up to rider, depends what u prefer. AT is for sure much cheaper to get and maintain. GS also suffers eating cams like ktm790 up to 2019~, lot of people had to replace ESA shocks..AT is solid. To me GS feels way more like street bike than adv tbh. But it also have lower cog which is better in technical off-road and handles between in corners. Go figure 🤷
It IS automatic gearbox. Just because you can still manually change gears doesn't nullify this fact. Strange logic by BMW and just adding unnecessary confusion for customers
😂 It's not that much different or nicer than a GSA from 2016... Now tell me that "they've made it rideable in single track, difficult terrain" If not, it's all the same...
