I tested this vehicle in 2024, compared to Ix1 and Ix2, this feel like what you said. So good...

Got the M Sport Pro on order at the moment. Being of ahem “large proportions”, I find it uncomfortable getting into most EV’s. This one was pretty much I could comfortably fit in 😂. The facelift just looks so much better, and that plastic triangle is gone thank god

Good choice @Mark Evans. And I too am glad they got rid of that silly piece of plastic! Thanks for watching and commenting, and enjoy your iX3 when it comes!

It makes sense designing it to look like something that is one of the best sellers for the brand. It becomes an easy transition for people who want to go electric, but don't want to stand out. The clownish design of the iX is something I wouldn't want to be seen in. Radical is not necessarily always good. However, i agree with you on BMW overdoing the blue bits.

You are so spot on with this "electric styling" with blue accents and strip lights for a "futuristic" look. I also don't like alloy designs on EV's with howthe spokes take up 80-90% of the area...I had however put two and two together and considered that may be due to acheiving better aerodynamics as you mentioned

Thanks. Really helpful, comprehensive review, as usual Bryan. I'm in the market for an electric SUV and am being pushed up the market by an allergy to touch screens. For example, I can get into my Q3 & adjust the heated seat at the touch of a button then drop the temperature down while driving with one movement. I'm looking to pay nearly £60k for an Ariya, Ionic 5 or something similar but finding that I have to go through a series of "eyes off the road" actions just to do the same. That's not progress and it's not safe!

Excellent video. Thank you! SO, between a 2022 or 2023 bmw ix3, the mustang mach e and the Audi Q4 etron, which feels best, which gets the most miles with fully charged batter and what is the charging time difference between them in charging from 10 or 29% to 80 or more%? Sorry to bombard, but I’m sooo confused and need to choose. Also, NO ONE talks about safety or crash testing! Any info there would be so helpful.

Perhaps the silver triangles are a knock off of the Tesla side cameras? Fake cameras, fake exhausts, fake air scoops, fake radiator grille. This is a cartoon car. A parody.

I have an ix3 we think it’s great we like the conventional approach rather than the tech approach and the x3 is the best selling bmw so why not go with it? Yes the wing vents stupid we deleted all the blue bits externally range depends but so far 210-240miles

I have to admit, it was a very surprising car for me. I genuinely thought that it wouldn’t be that good, but my goodness does it drive nicely! Yes, I’d have liked them to have been a bit more brave, but I understand they don’t want to scare people away from transitioning from ICE to EV. It’s the same with the i4. And I really like that too! Good choice of car, and thank you for watching and taking the time to comment.

Are people wanting EVs to look totally different? To be some out of this world looking design? He sahas s it’s basically just an X3.. electrified. I thought this was the point? Changing all cars gradually to all be electric. I personally hate the new, odd looking EVs, apart from the odd one, Audi for example is pretty smart, But, what about just changing engines on already popular cars to be electric. Like MINI, they seem to be only ones who have just changed the engine and power structure. I have been looking to change to EVs for a while, but I hate all the new designs, they look awful. I just want a normal car but with electric capability! This isn’t too bad, I could like with the blue accents! But shocking how much of a mark up they put on an EV over the petrol.

Just ordered one. We have tried all the other brands of EV’s just no good. My wife is just under 5 ft and can’t sit comfortably and not reach the throttle pedal without keeping her heel off the ground also the seat base is short enough. We are so fed up of bad designed seats that are too long and don’t go low enough. Just can’t wait for my new Beemer. 😊

Just updating living with ix3 msport pro. Face lift. Very happy with it and just 1st service at 2 years. Only disappointment is the trade in value now as I have considered ix1 . I’ve have a good test drive of the ix1 very nice but not in the same league of quality or spec as the ix3. I would need to spend 10k more to down grade to it with 9k less miles . I will keep the ix3

Good review from a straightforward no-nonsense presenter - well done - but can I take issue with the usual problem with all EVs' - price. Good value? - This thing starts at £59,700 - the petrol X3 starts at £40,300 - How on earth do you justify that kind of price difference? - How can an electric motor and battery pack cost £19,000 more than an engine, gearbox a/o clutch? Car makers are selling these things at absurd prices to affluent buyers who are committed to buying an EV - if these folk had any sense they'd boycott these things until prices come down to sensible levels - or do they enjoy being ripped off? Hope I'm wrong!
@nigelstarkey9399

So you reduce the price of the vehicle whilst there is a six month waiting list - lets think - I assume you trawled all over BMWs corporate accounts to come this conclusion ? lets think about not hiring you in a Management role ...
@jimmacgregor4122
@jimmacgregor4122 2 года назад
@@nigelstarkey9399 Nigel - I'm afraid you've misunderstood my comment - car manufactures are quite entitled to sell these things at any price they choose - if buyers choose to pay the price demanded, that's their problem, not the manufacturers' - whether that looks a clever decision will depend on how prices move in future - if prices continue to rise, clever enough, if EV prices start to fall, then it won't look so clever. As I said, hope I'm wrong! BTW - I have no desire to take any management role offered - you'll be relieved to hear! BW
@bodrulm1
@bodrulm1 Год назад
You're not comparing like for like though. The iX3 trims are pretty much FULLY LOADED. So what they're doing is upselling the extras. The X3 once specced up with panoramic roof, upgraded sound, adaptive suspension, adaptive cruise and steering, acoustic glass, bigger wheels...etc etc suddenly is not great value. So your argument holds up if only you want a basic spec X3, otherwise it's simple not true. The iX3 costs about a third to run.

You cant really include jaguar I-pace in competition of this car because it starts at 70k thats 20k more then the bmws starting price, so its obvious the i-pace would be better. Overall, its not fair to compare the jag to the bmw.
@AutoEV
@AutoEV 2 года назад
@Ali Jsn, the I-Pace starts at £64,000 and the iX3 we had on test was a Premier Edition Pro which is £62,000. They are the same size and aimed at the same market sector, so it’s a fair comparison in our view.

Why are you ignoring the Volvo XC40 as a competitor? Four hundred horsepower, yum yum.
@AutoEV
@AutoEV 2 года назад
@Michel, it was purely an oversight on my behalf. I included the Volvo in my written road test over on autoev.co.uk but completely forgot to mention it in the video. Which is even more unforgivable because in the video of the XC40 we did, we mention the iX3😳 as a competitor! All I will say is, however, the XC40 is a smaller car, as the XC60 is a more naturally-sized rival, but they don't do full electric in that as yet. But yes, you are correct, we didn't mention it. We can't ignore that car as we love it, and if you watch our video of the Audi e-tron S we say that for the same money as the Audi, you could buy the as-quick Volvo and have enough change for a Honda e. Thank you for watching and taking the time to comment however, we do appreciate it. Bryan @ AutoEV
@SteveLoughran
@SteveLoughran 2 года назад
that XC40 is also pretty spacious inside for a vehicle narrower and shorter than this, 450L boot vs. 510. but it's got worse range; on a trip from bristol to london I'd probably be filling up on the way in as well as a stop at reading services and/or the ionity charger at chippenham. and owning a 320 estate means i've been corrupted by BMW car driving fun. but the ix3 is wide, which, in a UK city, puts it a disadvantage when driving and parking urban. it's a real shame that the car industry has all agreed that if you want an EV with range and luggage ona par with an estate, you are essentially presented with a choice of SUVs

As usual, lovely review, thank you. One question : have you seen the i4 ? I had the [dubious] privilege, up close. It is everything but radical, apart from the radically ugly front-grill. The iX is radical, no doubt about it [a radical monster] and it is probably an indication of the future the Bavarians are preparing, but the i4 ? Well, think of a pizza. A tasty pizza. The morning after. Reheated. That's what the I4 is. All the ingredients are there, and it is a good mix on paper, but it just doesn't taste right. And what could have seemed sharp in ICE 4 "gran" [what does "gran" even mean? "Big", without the D, because forgetting last letters is posh?] coupé form 2 years ago, just doesn't cut it as an BEV. The BEV part is good and competitive, but all the rest feels out of place and out of date...because it is supposed to be new and exciting and it isn't. Why couldn't they come up with a whole new line, like Stuttgart did ? The EQS and the EQE ? The beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but at least it's a new language and an original perspective and it's not ashamed of what it is. And it's damn aerodynamic too.

Still disappointing to see the European company that was truly innovative early in the EV revolution so half heartedly converting a ICE car. Shame, and it looks so conventional and closed in internally.
@pqvid
@pqvid 2 года назад
I would think they lost billions on a fully new, innovative platform - that never sold that well. They were way ahead of time and didn’t do it the proper way as Tesla did - first build the market, then bring the mass production. So it’s easy to understand why they got scared to invest - again! - billions in a new dedicated platform. They rather designed a „universal platform“ - in fact, the X3 of G01/G08 generation was already designed to be an alternative ICE/PHEV/BEV car. Saves money for development big times. Of course now, looking back in time, it’s easy to say what they should have done. Just not too many people can exactly predict the future ;)

In some comments, you attack me (which is fine as I am big enough and ugly enough to deal with trolls like you), however directing that anger towards some of our other viewers and patrons is unjust, and frankly unwelcome.
