This video made the battery change on my F40 1 series key fob so easy. The retention clips on the large blanking plate were in a slightly different place. However following these instructions and taking care, the blanking plate just popped out. Great video. Thanks
Thanks. This made it super easy. Both keys gave off the same warning in the car. I was worried I wouldn’t change the batteries in time. My 15 YO watched this vid and changed them quick.
Thank you so much , even though I had watched other videos on the , they did not point out to lift the cover up from the metal side. watching your video was much clearer and was successful .Your video was excellent ! Clear and easy to fallow.
Great presentation/explanation. As an fyi I clicked on a much shorter presentation. In my case my key wouldn't even unlock the doors so getting in /checking instrument panel wasn't even an option. I presume most people who attempt to change a battery just want to know how to get it, lol. Do appreciate the extra info re dashboard / sourcing batteries. Thanks !
Thanks! My son's X5 doesn't have a low battery indication on the dash, but it doesn't want to lock and unlock at a distance. I suspect, like my Jeep Overland, the battery is getting weak. your explanation will make it easy without breaking the tabs. BTW, I prefer the Duracells, because they seem to last longer. I keep 2032s on hand, because a lot of my remotes and time lapse photo triggers use the same battery. Again; Thanks!!!!!
@Dale Mellor - good luck, just do it before it completely dies bc you don't want to have il the key programmed again. Correct, fairly common battery number.
@@Tortelli-NL does all 2021 bmw 330's have this key fob or is it only if you get a specific package? I ordered the 2022 BMW 330e and im getting delivery next month and I want this key fob but im afraid i get the older one
@akii panic - your key fob should be similar to this one, if m sport package than you will have the 3 stripes on the side. Most G series have this key fob unless you car has an option for the digital one like 7 series does.
Super clean video. Thank you for this content that you shared with us. I still have a problem even after i changed my key batteries it doesn’t lock or unlock the vehicle and i don’t know if i should take it to a service center to program it or anything. Happy to know your thoughts about it. Bmw x5 f15.
@taulant shabiu - first of all you are welcome.. before taking it to service center,I would recommend if you can hold it next to steering column and try the key fob to get recognize by the car. Was ur fob new ? Or have you previously used it. I have changed battery in F and G series now and never ran into pairing problem. Try the pair method first.
I’ve just got this msg on my g20 320d. I decided to use my spare and it doesn’t recognise my profile. (Getting “guest”) on the screen. When I try to change the profile it’s asking for a PIN number! I don’t know it. Any suggestions? TIA.
good video, but the video would have been better if you had a tripod instead of some dude's unsteady hands and better lighting that would allow for seeing the cover in higher detail
I have been receiving a message in my X5 that says “battery empty.” Any idea what this means? It’s *never* said low battery, etc. And there is definitely a battery in the KeyFOB - I’ve never even opened the KeyFOB before. I’m able to start the car. I have a model year 2020 X5 and I’ve never seen this error message before. It just started yesterday.
@nutwigg1 - that's strange for 2020, does it have remote start? Where you located, I wish imagine that is still covered under 3 year warranty, I wonder if there is a key or chip for that remote starter?
@@SheziMotorsport Thank you for the reply. It was actually due to a low battery. I went to the dealer and was informed that’s the message when the battery is low. I replaced the battery and the message went away. Such an unusual message to indicate the battery is low. Anyway, thank you so much for the reply.
@@SheziMotorsport I have the 6 cylinder. Coin battery is all that it needed. They’re super cheap. I had one on hand. There really wasn’t a reason to make a warranty claim. Probably cost me literally less than $1.00 to fix the problem.
Does all 2021 bmw 330's have this key fob or is it only if you get a specific package? I ordered the 2022 BMW 330e and im getting delivery next month and I want this key fob but im afraid i get the older one
@trucker dave 215 - was the remote working before battery died, and were you in the car when you replaced battery? Have you tried to holding it next to steering column like it states?
@@SheziMotorsport lol 😂 u know what happened the battery that I put in it came seal but I had the battery for over 5 years and it was cheap battery and didn’t work so I bought a new pack of battery and work lol 😂
@timothy cottle - is this the key that came with the car? Did it work before battery ran out? Did it ever say battery low in remote? I don't think fob is bad, send like it had completely lost it's programming? By any chance are you within your 4yr/3yr warranty period?
@@SheziMotorsport it didn’t give a warning on dash like it was supposed to, it just stopped working right after I touched handle to get back in from checking mail. It’s one of the original fobs.. the car is a 2016 so no warranty. Tried replacing with two different batteries and none worked. It’s just dead. It only works next to steering column, nothing else.
@jhakas jack - that's odd.. battery is battery and there isn't any programming needed. Can you please hold your key next to steering column and try to start.
Shezi Motorsport I tried everything but it won’t start. I have to Call BMW mechanic he came with his laptop and programmed both the key again then the problem got solved. He told me after battery replacement sometime we hav to sync the keys again
@jhakas Jack - sorry to hear. that's odd, bc usually holding the key next to steering column should sync it.. but odd part is that they had to program them.. replaced battery of x5 and 5 series and didn't run into that issue..
Shezi Motorsport I’m also very frustrated with this issue I ask that tech guy he said u have sync it everytime u get ur remote battery changed Mine is BMW X1 4series
@@SheziMotorsport I did. I followed exactly the way you showed put it in the bottom between the 2 clips and turn to pop it . It popped out the front but is still stuck at the back. I tried pulling or pull it up even further with full strength. Anymore its going to crack it is half . I brought it to the dealer . They had a bit of trouble but managed to get it off at the end .
@purelucid1 - that is odd, I wonder if some liquid gel on the key and kinda got stuck overtime or of it was opened previously and glued lightly maybe.. glad you got it opened and sorry you had to end up at dealer..
