well the people dont like the comparison because the M costed 40 k and the audi only 29k so its just two different classes of cars and not really a good comparison

Which brings me back to my point that for the price difference, you can use the rest of the money you saved to make the TT a far better car performance-wise than the Z

The later 3.2 TT that came around 05-06 would be a better comparison to the M. Of course in the US the M would be a proper comparison since we didn't get the true MotorSports version engine (240 HP vs 320). Pretty much just a bored out 2.8 to 3.0 then later 3.2 single throttle body not ITB. Having owned a 03 TT Quattro 225 and now a 99 Z3 2.8 Roadster (both manual) I'd had to say the Z is a much better handling car. The only benefits I see with the TT is more HP mods for the turbo, much more storage space, and AWD for the winter. My Z3 has the dual Vanos version engine and has plenty of power/torque in the triple digit range vs the TT that would get weak around 115 MPH and the rear end is firmly planted in corners vs the TT feels likes it wants to swap ends if I take one too fast.

Agree the 225 shared the s engine with the first gen s3 of the and was actually putting out 225 despite not being sold as a tts and the engine was detuned to 210 in the s3. However the next gen a3/tt and the one after both shared the s engines and were both designated s models repsectively. The next gen after the first shape people seemed to think the 197bhp entry level tt was the replacement for the 225 when it actually really wasnt. Just so many people had the twin exhaust 225. Also there wasnt a drop in performance despite the power defecit due to weight saving when the 197bhp golf 5 gti engined shape tt came out. Meaning everybody ended up with those even though it was entry level at the time of launch. But because prices crept up and it was around the list price of the 225 people would wonder why has the second gen got less power like for like. Hardly progress? When really the 180bhp version was the entry model that the 197 bhp version replaced. (Im fully aware of the 150bhp versions introduced at a later date thats not my point here) With the second gen tt the v6 engined one filled the void untiil the real second gen tts came out.

I'm 21 and I think I would be too. I don't think it's about age but more about your nature. Low and slow is more my thing. Would have the Audi deffo, much nicer looking and timeless design

Black Skull Not so sure about that. The Z3M is now becoming a classic due to the unusual styling and limited numbers. The TT on the other hand doesn't look like it's heading that way going by the market.

tbh the audi looked amazing to me at the time but now the novelty value has long gone it's just bland

@@g71Stormex A simple body kit or at least a more modern looking front bumper would solve the TT non agressive look but yeah I still prefer the long nose design of the Z.

+Dumy Jobby ...in disguise... Not my favorite looks and/or chassis, but the Z3 coupe is absolutely dreadful to me. It is the only circunstance that could make me choose the golf TT over it.

Now rip out the M engine and mount it into the TT that would be interesting lol ;). Though bigger injectors, FMIC, and a tune to the TT for 22 PSI would do the trick.
