The first-gen TT looked like a porsche and a VW beetle had sex and that's what came out.

EagleTalon 97 Exactly! That's actually one of the reasons why I bought my TT. It somewhat looks like a Porsche but with way more quality interior parts at least compared to the Porsches of the same years particularly Boxsters. I also lowered mine and got some low profile tires which completely changes the TT's appearance positively.

@81 786 may I ask why? I don't really know about my country, but I'm pretty sure it's cheaper than in the US. I'm actually thinking of importing a TT, but which model would you recommend? The mk1 or mk2?

Nice car..German built...but comes with many problems..number one being cam belt needs replacing early 25 to 30,000 miles. Back seats will only fit 5 year olds in and under. Styling is great..retro inside .

@@roberttaylor465 i had to change cam belt and tensioner after 100k kilometers but that was after 14 years of driving so 25 to 30k is exaggeration

Put inside this a 3.2 littre vr6, a DSG gearbox and quattto traction, and u have a little R8.

Essentially a 2 seater with the rear seats not suitable for adults rear seats are only for kids or your hand luggage. Timing belt replacement is at least twice as difficult if not twice as expensive as a Honda. Be prepared to pay to keep. Likened to an ink jet printer, easy to get into but expensive to keep.

How (and what) exactly do you "delete" off this car to make it less complicated? I've been looking for one and am trying to learn everything I can.

Most of the vacuum lines can be deleted, which clears up a lot of possible vacuum leaks. There are other modifications you can do but they may make you fail emissions, depending on where you live.
