I'm paying £74,000 for mine. Not because of anything special I ordered (I didn't even get the carbon fibre roof or carbon bucket seats!), but because I bought it in Spain, having it imported into Gibraltar (so no Spanish taxes are paid) and paying 22% import duty on arrival. Definitely looking forward to it! I customised an M4 Competition with more or less the same stuff as the M2 I ordered and it would literally cost me £30,000 more on top of the M2, so not worth it!
A new manual, front engine, rear wheel drive car with a straight six. Page one, chapter one of the petrol head handbook. Suddenly it seems like the car World is not so bad after all.
@@SergioMenaGTS Good looks box? That front bumper looks like something out of a bad 80's kit car. Makes the older M2 comp look pretty damn good though.
The car world is anything but bad, we’ve never had it so good! What a car this is, I’d love one. And personally I like the styling as well (but my mrs doesn’t) 😂
The M2 Comp last gen was also almost the same weight as the last gen M4. No one seems to know or acknowledge this. The only really light car was the original N55 M2. The M2 was always a short wheelbase M3 with a cheaper interior. The G87 is a basically a shorter wheelbase G82/80. Almost no different. It’s basically a “true” M3.
yeh feels like bmw lost that ability to artfully design...just saying lets throw a bunch of random shit at the exterior and interior to look new and unique...with no sense of cohesiveness
Hmm...This new M2 has got more like a saloon than coupe. Its face looks "tamed". It's a grown up M2 to M4, as Ben fairly said. I'll keep my M2 Competition for quite a while longer.
I'm struggling with which to go with manual or automatic After this and throttle house's review being opposite in thoughts 🤔 Throttle house's advice is miss the gear box as they described it as a bit underwhelming numb especially second gear feeling rubbery. Etc Now you say it's ok Is ok good enough when the 47k civic gear box is better?
And people thought the Chris Bangle-designed BMWs in the 2000s were quirky, the most recent generations are just plain ugly! Shockingly ugly! And 1700kg in a small sports car? Do the engineering team actually know car design? Both the design and engineering departments should be sacked!
BMW designers have become lazy and have gone blind with this M2. This car looks okay at best. M2/M3/M4 are all messed up looking for the money buyers end up paying out the door for it’s looks. Wait 5 years past it’s last production year before going EV, and you’ll see these G-series M cars will be apparent flops in the history books. SMH
For the same price I could get 991 911. Would you suggest a ten year old 911, or 2023 m2 as a daily/GT/track car? I currently have an nd2 Miata so either will be a big upgrade (GT wise)
An M2 will have a way more spiky, more fun powerband than a 991. 991 is timeless though and great to get into a rhythm with on a winding road. Drive then and decide. Wishing you Blessed journeys ahead.
I dislike that you only mentioned the GLARING downfalls of this M2 successor for like 15 seconds. Pricier? Heavier? Less playful (“baby M3”)? No steering or shifting tactility? Worse styling? Longer wheelbase? I’m sorry, but there is no reason why an enthusiast should buy this over the old M2 Comp
Go price a manual m2 comp with under 20k miles. They’re about 60-65k for a 2-3 year old car. Not to mention they have a pretty serious Achilles heal, the crank hub sprocket is a serious issue for a 60-65k used car.
Funny watching him afraid to criticize and give an honest review. Hideous design. Way too heavy. Not roomier inside for the backseat regardless of what this guy says compared to prior gen. They dialed out the fun. Step backwards.
@@wtr861 You can right now in the UK. Just checked autotrader, there's 7 M4s, less than £65k, less than 5000 miles, barely a year old. So, yeah, you can?
@@MacellaioNero they are considerably more in North America but the price is tumbling quick. Still close to 100k which is not far off msrp here in Canada.
Another porky and ugly BMW (with bumpers that look just like coming from an amateur's half-baked resin mould...) with what to me looks like yet another wonky interior with once again a big screen semi-plastered randomly onto the dash...however great the rest may be, at 65k (more like 70k with options...if not more) this cuts no mustard. Forget the kids: Porsche still rules this segment but it seems these ones are tired of so much success and can't wait to kill it by dropping a big vicious, one dimensional & monotone battery into their queen & king combo...if Lotus makes the right moves (highly unlikely...) they may have, finally, this segment just for themselves...
What do Porsche and Lotus have that is in the price range of the new M2? Nothing... I have a 718 Boxster GTS and it was almost 100k decently optioned. You can't go much lower than that for Porsche. Lotus? The new Emira with the 10-year-old powertrain lol! Even the Emira will be a 90k car lightly optioned and 100k with decent options. Emira's in any event will be low volume so good luck trying to procure one even at a markup...... And you were saying about the price? The Audi TT-RS is about the only true competitor and they are unobtanium unless you want one someone else has likely beat the crap out of and tuned.
