BMW M3 TOURING - All The 500bhp Wagon You Could Ever Need? 

I hate this new trend of replacing buttons with a screen. Audi's climate menu is just awkward to use and feels a little flimsy. The climate buttons are probably the most used buttons in a car. Why would you have to navigate through a menu, while driving, to change anything? It's probably a lot cheaper to do this though, having nice aluminium buttons is classy but expensive. But it really staggers me that on a 100 grand car you need to use a touchscreen to change your heated seats. Seats are a bit silly too, the indiv napa seats are truly magnificent to sit in. Not really sure if I like this car. Will be amazing to drive, but struggling to find its identity.

How is it illegal to operate a phone in a holder but legal to for these stupid touch screens?! Nice wagon, we've all lusted after the idea. Problem is, Alfa Romeo have shown us that there is a family car that is now more lust worth than the M3.

Imagine waiting for an M3 estate for decades and then it gets an interior like this! Everyone who thinks this looks better (in any car) than some real buttons and especially dials deserves to be ripped off by carmakers and be charged stupid money for cheap screens that are an absolute hazard to operate while driving.

Terrible climate controls. Would never buy any car with such a ridiculous layout. Just gimme those hard buttons please for climate control. 🙏🏽😣🙏🏽

The pre-facelift Alpina B3 touring looks better and has the normal interior

Who are they making cars for if the people who drive them complain that buttons are missing. Who in gods name wants to scroll to change the temp?!!!!!

It’s beyond me how BMW can design and develop such an incredibly complicated touch screen experience to the detriment of safe driving, when it’s necessary for drivers to have to take their eyes off the road ahead to find the required option in the digital dash to change functionality whilst driving.! This is an example of where the tech advances are in conflict with common sense.

The ultimate all rounder is one down. M340i Touring. No stupid grill, plenty of power, better ride and save yourself a chunk of change!

Why doesnt BMW have buttons for heated seats? Because you now have to pay a subscription for heated seats. So of you dont pay, theyll just make the heated seats menu dissapear lol

BMW are 25 years late, Audi with the S4/RS4 and Mercedes with C63 AMG estates did this decades ago. And with no hideous grill .

This car would be perfect for me if it wasn't for that massive screen instead of a normal dash

The infotainment system is the only takeaway from this amazing vehicle. Every explanation and point was beautifully made and maybe when these cars hit 60k on the market, I'd consider one

That panoramic touch screen looks so out of place in a performance car. People buy an M3 for its sportiness and that should extend to providing traditional dials/binnacle👍

Amazing car. Amazing film. I honestly can't complain about the M3's shortcomings(infotainment, front bumper looks, weight) when it's probably the last fully petrol M3 and a fast estate is inherently very cool.

That is the ugliest radiator grill I've ever seen!!!!! BMW is supposed to be a high-end product. Who was in charge of designing the car? What were they think? "Ok, let's put a radiator grill that looks like an ass". I never liked BMW radiator grills, but the old ones looked better.

A cracking polished review. I do want one now. A great car. I’d be tempted if wasn’t in car business. Too heavy depreciation 100k start price optioned. You’d have to have carbon backed seats tho, and then cover them for kids / dogs. At least they’re there for resale. If cannot see them in your ownership. Odd. Alas. All things cannot be perfect. What a tasty car. I like the trick orange bits. In cabin. I know I shouldn’t.

I appreciate this guy's honest review and not holding back from criticizing BMWs stupid choice of removing buttons.

We just got a brand new rs4 at home, we tried the m3, we loved it. But we couldn't stop thinking about the grill and how bad it looks. Spending 140k € on a car and everytime you open the garage you see this front grill...

So glad i got my M4 before the ID8 refresh. Thanks for showing us around this new car. I agree with most of the things you say. Except the red M buttons on the steeting wheel. I love them. Easy to see and switch modes while ripping.

My absolute dream car! Would love to own one one day! My only criticism I can see other than not being manual (Pretty sure thats a old argument now).... In all the years bmw has done a 3 series touring.... Theyve never been able to get the rear seats to fold down flat in line with the boot. Absolutely daft criticism but thats it, Stunning looking car!!!!

That screen is a tragedy

As Chris Harris pointed out once, the German luxo brands aim these super-estates at the moneyed ski set who take regular trips to their Alpine chalet. That's why 4wd is a necessity. It's why we haven't seen a BMW version until now, and why Audi have been doing it for ever. And it's no good saying 'nonsense, I'd buy one' when, in all honesty, most of us wouldn't... because it's a hundred flipping grand. Sadly, we're not the target market. BMW just wants us to salivate with our noses pressed to the glass, then settle for a 320i.

BMW Gopher teeth grill. I just cannot unsee it. The current BMW models are so bloody ugly! Such a shame.

It doesn't get better than this. And I like the front end.

It’s interesting that it’s illegal to use your phone whilst driving, but what’s the difference between your phone and swiping through that screen to turn your seat heater down

Moving all the buttons (such as heated seats), to the screen is so that they can delete them unless you pay for the monthly subscription - difficult to do with a physical button …it’s a sign of things to come

The grille still offends me. So ugly, every older bmw looks better.

Can't get over that face! 🙈 BMW used to be my favourite car brand... That ended years ago when they bought out the X6 and a 2 series that was a small coupe and also a people carrier. They lost their identity... They just make far too many varients of cars.

It should be noted that xDrive has been great at least since the E90 generation. It really doesn't feel like an AWD system. It will oversteer on command in slick conditions, but it also really does give an amazing sense of control over the car. I've had my xDrive E90 up in the snowy country roads in northern Sweden, and it was simply a magical drive. The only thing the new ones are missing is a manual trans.

Finally someone points out the tacky looking paddle shift. The red material makes it look cheap.

I had a 328 Touring once for a couple of years. It was amazing and very rewarding in everything it did. This must be staggering by comparison.

the only parts of this vid that resonate with me are the points made at the end - still hate the front end, and the whole car is vulgar. BMW's whole styling dept. needs to be thrown out and replaced with boomers, even if they have to be wheeled out of retirement.

awd not 4wd...new car interiors make you feel like you should be proud to work in a corporate cubical office. they are all the same, all glass and piano black, high maintenance, fast to fall behind and lag. Too impersonal, nothing special abou them...look at the interiors of the old alfa 159, old vogue, minis, the 911 from '05 ish. Cars had personality, now they are all the same, glossy plastics big screens and no buttons. I WANT BUTTONS!!! I HATE TOUCH BUTTONS ON STEERING WHEELS AND HAVING TO TAKE YOUR EYES OF THE ROAD FOR 5 SECONDS TO ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE !! IF IT WORKS WHY CHANGE IT?!?!?! F**K THIS, I'M GETTING THE INEOS GRENADIER AND THATI IS IT.

If it wasn’t for the grill, this would have been the perfect car.

BMW fell off in the Interior department compared to Audi and Mercedes. There is way too much apparent plastic for a 100K car.

Usual unloved face looks sharp in snow. Has the design finally started to come good??? That said E30 looks twenty times better. traditional Kidneys quad round lights. Yes please. BMW should go back retro modern styling E30. Works so well Hellcat Demon. It would on BMW. All the haters would stop and the lovers of BMW would return. Halo eyes recessed and angry face and kidneys all needed.

Lovely car, but I hate the touchsceens so much!

Apart from all the functionality issues of not having tactile buttons for the most essential operations I think the free floating screens are a complete disasterous aestaethical choice for high end market cars - yes it might remind younger buyers of their mobile phones realtionship, but that is not news anymore. This kind of design philosohy is more fitting for utility vehicles where you bolt on things on the "outside" of the surfaces for easy operation, acessibilty and being able to repair each "unit" easily, but that is really not what you buy in this class of cars, be it Mercedes, Audi or BMW, in realtion the engines of these cars are nearly non acessible wihtout spcialized tools. So bolting on the screens onto the dashboard is just a poor mans solution and should not be in cars of this priceclass - it screams non integration, marketing influenced mobile phone generations which can only be considered temporary till we have much more integrated AR solutions. These bolt on displays are in strong contrast to otherwise strong brands having strong design DNA and trusting in their abilities to deliver exceptionally within their offerings and selfspawned design philosophies - the bolt on displays are simply the opposite, a shaky in between choice while nerveously looking towards Telsa and their center mounted display, and not being able to design dashboard around these displays, and considering costs of doing so - its all wrong signals for such high end brands - bolt on displays "of the future" belongs to far less attractive cars in lower segments where functionality plays the main part over excuberance or luxury like in just soemthign that needs to be there, and that is exactly how these diplays feels - like an afterthought, not integrated, not formed to follow the vehicles design. If the car makers want to go down this road then look to old amercian interior desing, with completely seamless flowing lines, and everyhting integrated into it - the Honda e is an example of this kind of philosohy - dashbaord runs the entire width of the cabing, and therfore feels like an integrated part of the cabing, not somthing bolted on. For such experineced OEMs we should expect them to make up their minds on this instead of letting it be "hanging in the air". ///Other than that BMW M3 Touring, yes please.

I've owned dozens of BMWs over the years. They have lost their way on styling, and now it seems, infotainment and ergonomics. Not having buttons for climate or heated seats is just nuts. I have one button in my current BMW that I can pretty much hit without looking to put the heated seats on. Now I have to take my eyes off the road and find it on a touch screen. And dont start me on the nose of this car. Dreadful. The Screen looks naff, the optional seats with "bollock rest" just look like something that you'd see in a shopping centre rice meet, and overall the styling is fussy and uncohesive. Add into the mix its a 6 figure 3 series..... I'll stick with an M340i Tourer and a Caterham 420 for the same money thanks.

The complaints are all completely legit. Why does BMW think we want fiber speed bumps. And why are MFGs so dense about putting easy to use climate controls?!

Points well made about the stupid interior with the stupid technology screens and stupid dials and stupid grille... hopefully car manufacturers will wakeup soon from this nightmarish phase.

I dont know why always people hate on the new M3, it looks absolutely amazing, so agressive, it fits the touring bodystyle so much. Rly the only takeaway is the annyoing screen operation. The ultimate daily driver for sure.

They’ve ruined what could’ve been a great car with that monstrosity of a touchscreen. Bring back actual dials and buttons. Sad.

So much annoying designs inside and out. But BMW accomplished their goal, polarizing rather than perfection.

Do OEMs not employ anyone that lives where its cold? Because i can't imagine they do of they think touch climate controls are acceptable. I will never buy a car that requires I remove my gloves to control the heat.

I’m not a fan of touring/estates/wagons but people who buy them always talk about the boot/trunk space. The rs4 and rs6 look good as a wagon/estate though

Paddle shifter and the M1/M2 toggles are the best part - ban!

The boot looks tiny - no one would put their back seats down to put the dogs in, unless you want the St. Bernhard in your lap, or 2 smaller dogs under the pedals.

Alpina b3 touring for me!

I was driving it around today. It's quite a smooth ride, eats bumps like nothing. Have not been through all the different modes yet. Already had a software problem fresh from the factory typical BMW. But nothing serious just some software issue. It drives perfectly fine.

Even with its quirks and faults it’s the absolute perfect high performance, year round daily driver! 🥰
