Steve Sutcliffe gets very sideways with the new BMW M4 Competition Pack! If you can put up with the harder ride, it might just be the bargain of the century! M4 Comp Pack review: aex.ae/1VIWYLY BMW M4 in-depth review: aex.ae/1n1NkrA
Miss the time when I bought a sports car and there was only one version, now there are AMG S, R8 plus, M's Competition pack, etc... I hate this marketing strategy.
+Monteiro This has existed for as long as sports cars go. You had the 300SL and the 300SL "lightweight" alloy body. You had the Miura, the Miura S and even the Miura SV. You had the 911, the Carrera S, the Carrera RS and the Turbo... Plus BMW has always done several version of their cars, at least for the M3.
Yes, but now they are exactly the same car (and again I am exaggerating), but with a "ECU repro" to make more power, and they charge you more 10.000 €.
It's because when I bought an m4, they didn't even have a competition pack. I had to fuckin sell mine to buy one that did. Why can't they just leave the car as it is and have competition package come stock. it's what the normal m4 should have been.
I just bought one of these and I thought the comfort was soft enough just. Then went in for service and they gave me a 320d brand new and then I realised what comfortable dampers are 😂 Steve is right. The M4 competition is teetering on the edge if not past it on normal roads in terms of dampers. It's stiff as hell. If you're a prospective buyer, don't buy it after 1 test drive. The first test drive everyone is concerned with how it sounds, how quick it is, how it turns. They don't think about compliance of the ride during normal (95%) of the time monotonous driving. It's not for everyone. As you can probably tell from my words, I somewhat regret getting something so harsh for what I want as a daily drivee
Nice review but did your voice over mic quality could use some improvement. Not recording the voice overs in the bathroom could help as well I suppose.
+Martin Allen I have a c63s and my best friend has a m4 and I kill him every time. Don't let these videos hype you up . And not to mention that fake sound that m4 makes
Exhaust is the same? I don't think you have an optional sports exhaust as it is one standard... The GTS on the other hand is a sportier exhaust (oh and Steve's always had a grudge against BMW)
+drivelinetime What are you on about? He said it sounded better than the standard M4 because the CP has the normal M4's optional sports exhaust as standard.
I can't understand why the carbon ceramic brakes aren't part of the competition package. I know he had them on this test model in the vid (yellow calipers), but they aren't standard in this package. Seems crazy.
I Love the M4 as no other M before. Now with an even Stiffer Suspension rate and Chassis it's even more my Taste. I am sure I Love this Kind of Character more than anybody else. Plus the Design and Proportions.. Big Coupe, my Passion Forever.99% of the People Would rather Like and want an M2.
looks like the brakes have had an upgrade. From what I can remember the normal M4 even with Carbon Ceramic option had a single piston rear caliper, this has 2 rear and obviously 6 front. I'd still take a C63
+DangerZone45 lack a bit behind merc though. Motortrend tested the M4 vs SS (M4 had carbons) and it's best stop was 109ft C63 with carbons tool 101ft even whilst carrying more weight. Beat Audi though haha
Thanks for that great review. Road noise is my 330d's weakness and it appears that the M4 CP is possibly worse. Lack of sound insulation isn't attractive and it's made me think again if I really want one of these immensely powerful things, maybe because I know that I couldn't drive a vehicle sideways without putting it into the nearest wall.
Still have four door though, with the competition pack, better looking than the M4 from the rear, the M4 looks sort of "that'll do" as if they ran out of ideas how to finish it?!🤔
Just replace the emblem with M4 GTS, change rims colors with gold, then add a big wing on the back & add with front lip spoiler, your car already look like real M4 GTS. lol.
The standard ///M4 is already current best touring coupe, I don't expect a lot more from the competition package. I don't think BMW cares about 0-60, in fact, they cares about 100-300 this is what ///M cars good at. But anyway, that is a competition package meaning 10 mm lower wide height and a stiffer spring, It will roll stiffer for sure but if you really cares about comfort, you should take the 435i ZHP edition because no one really cares about comfort if they pick ///M4 let alone ///M4 competition package.
I like the standard M4 looks more.. That black m4 badge on the back looks like a ricer sticker. Also wheel design is not for me.. But the rest is amazing
Now when this baby costs under 60k, what sense does it make to buy m4 gts that is 120k without any extras what so ever?? I say fuck that. Tune it little bit more and spend rest of the money for service and benzine costs.
Zatharos e92 was claimed 0-100kmh in 4,6 seconds for the manual version, and 4,4 sec for the dct, the real world test's, without a one foot roll (like motortrend always does, hence why theyre 0-100kmh time's are always way faster) Is 4,5-4,4seconds for the manual and 4,3 seconds for the dct. I had a manual and never did under 4,4,on dry road, and good temperature.
+Nigel van Koert It's fast in a straight line. That's it. And for the same price you wouldn't buy the Tesla 90D; you'd get a dual motor 70 which is nowhere near as fast.
+Jay Damnstraight "Luxurious" LOL. Typical yuppie car buyer. I couldn't care less about "luxury," I want to go fast. You can stick to your overpriced $80,000 yuppie car (where they charge extra for options that should be standard like a $1,000 backup camera), I'll stay with my 2.8 second Godzilla supercar. Last I checked, beating other supercars that cost three times more money is pretty "cool." Lastly, I GUARANTEE you that the GTR wouldn't lose a comparison test against the Camaro SS. LOL again. www.motortrend.com/news/comparison-2015-bmw-m4-vs-2016-chevrolet-camaro-ss/
+GalvatronTypeR Also, as for the BMW M4 vs Camaro SS, let's just say this...I wonder what country the reviewers are from huh? Of course they're going to prefer a car from their country. Just read up reviews. Let's just say the M4 has more praise than the GT-R.
