Love this, finally someone posts a video of what I want to do on an old GS, I have a WR450 and a Sherco 300 SEFR but I need a bigger bike for commuting without losing the fun factor off road. Thanks!
It can be done but it's a different kind of fun for sure. A lot of old bikes are going to need new or rebuilt suspension to be fun off road. I'm finding after riding these big bikes off road all the time that I want to get into regular dirt biking.
Awesome video bro, how does it perform offroad? I'm debating on whether I should get the 02 R1150GS or the 02 R1150GSA. The only reason I'm considering the adventure is because I like riding offroad.
The standard vs the adventure model both have advantages and disadvantages off road. I say you can't go wrong with either, unless the 2002 model has servo brakes. I can't remember which model year that started, but stay away from servo brakes if possible because the maintenance can cost a lot of money on them if they fail. GSA will get you farther in the backcountry but will be a heavier beast when filled up.
@@XxCrazyKamikazexX Of course, happy to help! The 1150 is a tank and I think you're going to love it. I put 36,000 miles on mine in the year I owned it and I can't say I would have done the same on another bike. Sold it at 90K miles and that thing is probably still chugging along with a new owner. A good portion of that was offroad, too. Just ditch the saddle if it's still got a stock one on it.
Go with soft bags (Mosko Moto) and heavy duty boots (I like the Alpinestars Toucans) if you take your GS/GSA offroad. If you tip you don't want a metal pannier transferring your bike's weight to your ankle should it get trapped under it (can and does happen). The GS is the most comfortable touring bike I have ever owned, and it is a treat to know you can take it offroad and continue your adventure. It's gearing is low and wide so you can find a good pace and disguise/manage some of its weight.
I definitely abused it a little here. The biggest thing is to not lay on it too much. These dry clutches get hot somewhat quickly compared to the wet clutches it seems. The 1150 is such a tractor that I didn't have to feather the clutch at all really.
yeah, i felt like the sound balance between music and engine was great, and the song is dope af. perfect response imo 😂. don't have good taste? mute it 👌
