Great review, I love that you ramble s bit with natural enthusiasm and fondness for the bike. I spotted one in a used bike dealers and liked the way it looked, perhaps I will consider one for my next bike as j have only heard good things about them.

Traded in my ZZR1400 for a 17 plate s1000r - this bike is absolutely brilliant, totally mental in a different way to Kawasaki - and corners unlike ZZR ! Up and down quickshifter is epic. Love everything about this bike....

I’ve got a 2017 one. It’s the best bike I’ve ever owned. And I’ve had many. Like you say it does everything so well. I use mine in London and on longer trips. It really is a do anything bike, blistering quick and that quickshifter!! First time I’ve felt confident in the wet as well with all the tech.

@@PetrolHeadsLdn It was an awesome bike. The V4 engine is an angel. I had the 2017 model but sold it in 2019. It is an absolute rocket ship but not suited for around the city. The s1000r does both rocket ballistic & low speed which the Tuono simply didn't like. The fueling on the Tuono wasn't the same as the s1000r & it didn't have the downshift which is butter on the BMW. The dynamic adjustment is a stand out on the BMW, throw in the heated grips, very easily adjustable modes and it a magical bike. As an all-round package that has loads of power for those of us who don't have sponsors on our leathers, the BMW is a better bike. I can also fit on it much easier.

Totally agree its the best handling bike I've ever ridden. My Thunderace was super torquey and comfortable, my R1 was a fast turning lunatic machine but my BMW S1000R would run rings round them. My ZX12R was a superfast comfy cruising machine. I kept all of those bikes for 6 years each. The Beemer is the nuts, effortless elbow down . . . almost

I have the 2019, got it new and it has 19k Km. It's my bike for when I'm in Europe... It's nice, but it leaks the WOW factor of my MV Agusta Brutale 1090RR and of my Ducati Hyperstrada SP... These bikes are with me at all times in the States. So... Yea, it's a good bike, but there are better/nicer bikes out there... To cut the enthusiasm of those talking about my Italians not being reliable, just know 2014 MV 22k miles - zero problems, 2013 Hyper -4.8K miles - zero problems. (LOL) Enjoy your bike; it's of of the better ones, Cheers!

You seem like you should know allot about bikes. I just got the opportunity to buy two bikes that are both really nice. both bikes only have 2500 km on them. one is a 2019 Ducati SuperSport 935, not the S model. and a 2018 BmW s1000R, both bikes are like new. I almost feel like getting both of them, but I feel like that would be crazy. because I would not ride them enough for that to make sense. do you have any opinions on my situation. I do mostly around town riding. with an occasional open road to open up on. but maybe the bike would make me want to do some longer rides. I want to figure things out in a couple days because they could get sold out from under me.

@@photographerjonathan Thank you for entrusting me with this question. As much as I hate the answer to your question, I will stay honest; the BMW is the better bike for your needs. It's a better bike in all regards, don't get me wrong. The Ducati is most certainly a beautiful bike, but this model is not their cherry on the cake. Those two cylinders are very aggressive for city riding and you will spend a fortune making it smooth... The BMW is as smooth as you will ever find a bike and for this reason, I advise to get this one. Cheers!

I am buying a 2018 s1000r with 360klms and a titanium header with standard pipe, my Question is does the ecu learn and compensates for the change or did you need to put on a Rapid Bike (was it the easy version) adaptor and adjust that. By the way great videos and much appreciated.
@PetrolHeadsLdn
@PetrolHeadsLdn 4 года назад
So there are mixed views in this. To start with it is quite lumpy low down but got better. Rapid bike is certainly a great solution and does a great job of recalibrating. I love the pipe sounds amazing. And not too obnoxious.
@hondaxl1
@hondaxl1 4 года назад
@@PetrolHeadsLdn Thanks for that, I am going to let the oxygen sensor try to compensate for the headers as the s1000r has a closed loop system and I believe can easily compensate for a pipe mod. If it does not, I will look at the rapid bike easy add on. Thanks again for your input.

Removed the stock pipes a week after purchase and installed Pro Race exhaust slip on. I absolutely love this bike, only gripe I have it temperature rises very fast in thick traffic. Unfortunately I commute daily on this bike so... what can I do regards the heating up, get really hot...

Seye Fasuyi I have a ‘17 in Grey, and have put 35,000km in the 2+ years I have owned it. I do commute on mine and agree the heat can be challenging on hot days in slow/stopped traffic. I commuted through Sydney peak traffic from a track day in 47C temp, in full leathers - with engine temperature at 108C. I think there is nothing much you can do - heat has to go somewhere. If I had to commute everyday I would probably buy an MT03 or Duke 390, to have less heat issues and not have the same concerns with theft or being knocked around when parked.
@raywheeler1123
@raywheeler1123 3 года назад
I commute daily on it in the Central Valley of California. +100 F regularly. Only thing that helps even a tiny bit with the heat is to shut it off at red lights. If you're gonna be dumb you gotta be tough!

Yes like you say heat has to go somewhere especially in such a big bike. I remember even on my GS a fair amount of heat wafting up at the lights. A smaller bike would have less issue but where is the fun in that. Foot kit helps. I live my rukka forces it jacket. Good luck.
