I agree. I am always a bit ambivalent watching these videos. I love seeing and hearing the cars and I can't lie, part of me enjoys when they screw up or get busted. But watching it encourages filming it, and filming it encourages doing it, which is pretty dangerous.

@@alexreeh13 I understand that. Asshole drivers are drawn to these meeting; but 4, 5 or more police cars and relative officers is just the usual waste of resources. It's not an isolated case, look at the other videos. 8 police cars for a place with one entrance and one exist.

Good thing they are traffic officers? Car theft usually occurs in the night time and it's quite difficult to apprehend the suspects? Delay in 999 call, travel time for the police officer and by then they are gone? What do you want them to do?

It would probably take a hundred paragraphs to really answer your questions in depth but I'd say most car enthusiasm comes from a passion/appreciation of the car as a complex and quite impressive machine. This might come from an enjoyment of mechanics, motorsport or even just enjoying the look/sound of cars - the truth is there's no real 'logical' answer that can make much sense to someone who doesn't have much interest in cars. It is (and most enthusiasts would probably agree here) just a weird obsession we have. For some it's also the community aspect - getting together in groups like these events, or chatting on forums/Facebook groups to people who are interested in the same thing (or more specifically the same make/model of car) as them. As for modifying, the vast majority of modifications fall into two categories - aesthetic and performance. You might upgrade the turbo on your engine to increase the power (some people's passion for cars comes from a passion for having as much BHP as possible) or upgrade the suspension to improve the handling (again, some enjoy using their cars on track). Otherwise you might replace the bumpers of your car, get different wheels or wrap it just because you like how it looks. The main reason here though is probably to stand out from the crowd - car enthusiasts will instantly recognise a car that has been modified vs a stock one. This is an interesting one though because you'll also find that a lot of enthusiasts modify their cars in similar ways, hence a lot of modified Fiesta STs, Golf Rs etc. all looking very similar. Again, there's no real logic to it other than that it makes people happy. In truth though, most of these cars are driven on a daily basis on the roads, so having a huge amount of power is almost useless - it's just something to brag about, really. For most people, their car is their second most expensive possession (if they own a house) so it makes sense to take some pride in it and own a car that you really enjoy and love.

I think​ Scarffo123 did a great job of answering the question. I agree that it's like any type of enthusiast really, some people just love a thing that others don't get. I can't explain why I love cars. In terms of modifying I think of it like clothing fashions. People like to express themselves and be somewhat unique and while some looks are very niche, others have wide appeal. That's why you see similar aesthetic mods on certain models. The classic example is gold rally livery on a blue Impreza. Also like fashion, styles change over time. The "Max Power" Fiesta in this is a good example. That huge bodykit and 'bad boy' bonnet was a common look on small hatchbacks in the late 90s but is less popular, and thus less common, now.

In short terms. We Modify our cars to make them personal theres nothing better than knowing there isnt a single car out there that looks exactly like yours does. Longer answer is people enjoy cars because thats what they like and its unexplainable to somebody who doesnt understand. But driving your own built car flat out doing 130-140mph+ the rush it gives you is insane nothing ever comes close to it so eventually you make your car faster and faster and faster untill its not even the same car anymore. Its very much like a drug chasing new power numbers new looks new mods. But what is the real icing on the cake it when your driving down the road with 10-50+ heavily modded cars on the MWAY its like a movie scene you are that point are the main character in the scene its all about you, the car and your mind. The technical attachment to the vehicle making it do exactly what you want it to do is a beautiful feeling. Petrol heads are a strange entity in this world and unless you like cars you will never ever truly understand why people like cars because its physically impossible to explain it. And ontop of that its like a huge inside joke, someone who doesnt understand cars will look at a car and go oh this is this. But to someone who really knows their shit will be able to tell you the exact engine inside of that car from 1-2seconds of sound they will know if its got a huge turbo or a charger or if its not got either of those and its a naturally aspirated engine. Its closer to fashion than it is any other hobby because to someone in the car community they could recognise types of wheels what kind of exhaust they have whether its had body work done whether its had its BHP increased. Feel free to ask me any questions you have. Try to keep them 1 question at a time though because it would take many many many paragraphs like Scarffo said.
