Its a bit finicky sometimes but it works. You are a legend. BMW did a full update on my software and they could not get it to work. Just remember to turn off auto update else it will update Spotify while charging your phone.
I was trying to get mine to work for months, thanks alot for this video. I eventually got spotify working with my idrive, thanks to your instructions. Its sad that the compony does not support its features leaving their customers in the dirt. Thanks alot for the post once again.
Hi. Unfortunately, 'BMW Connected' app no longer works. From July 30, 2021 my app doesn't connect to BMW server and it's no possible to log in. I have no idea how to run Spotify on iDrive 6.0.
I have the 2014 428I, having issues with spotify connected via Bluetooth on an Apple iPhone. The tracks always remain the same, even when the next song is playing. Any idea on how to fix?
Did you still need to change your BT mode to 1.6 in the developer options? I wish they would have put AA into iDrive 6 updates now that they support it.
Yeah good point, it is still worth double checking in the developer options to set the Bluetooth version to 1.6 or higher, however most phones that I’ve seen running the latest android software seem to already have this selected. Android auto would be great I agree, but it’s never coming to the older iDrive, the only way would be to buy an android head unit for the car.
I can't seem to get this to work. I have a 16 x5. I when I plug my phone into my car via USB, the "USB controlled by" setting only goes to "this device." If I try and switch to "connected device" it says couldn't switch. I believe this is the problem. Can you confirm any of this? Thank you for the help so far.
My video relates to Spotify working over Bluetooth, I believe a 16 plate car would require pronav to achieve this. If you have the basic nav then even usb functionality is limited without additional coding but you more than likely won’t have any Spotify functionality built into the car.
The connected drive app is still functional at the moment is it not? Only time will tell if it truly gets disabled and Spotify can’t synchronise with it. The MyBMW app has no support for Spotify what so ever, so there will be no solution other than to buy a cheap iPhone and run Spotify from there. At the moment, the Spotify app works on iPhone with the connected drive app, but there’s no mention of it being discontinued on iOS. The MyBMW app on iOS doesn’t support Spotify at the moment either.
