@@2smokeHennerz The internet allows you to interact with all of the hateful, miserable people who would otherwise never be seen outside of their blacked out bedrooms.
Such a shame, but she enjoyed her life a lot more in her years than most of us will experience. She was born to Nurburg and born for the ring. She brought much happiness to very many people and enjoyed every moment. A great loss, but a life lived well.
It's not about being a woman, it's not about being competitive, queen of the ring, famous .......... or crazy .... or whatever. She was one genuine lovely person. And as that, we will keep her in our hearts.
The fact that she remains the only woman to win the N24 (twice!), and was the first to enter it, the first female Ring Taxi driver... she was, and remains, a feminist icon. She shattered the glass ceiling and was the reason why many of today's female racing drivers got into the sport.
@@richardharrold9736 Can you keep the ideology out of it? We appreciate a human being here, and as El Shuwix has shown, one that transcends the mere identity stickers certain ideologies throw on them just to gain some glory of them. (As shown by you using all the buzzwords to gain brownie points, but which show that you know nothing..........like Glass Ceiling, which glass Ceiling to shatter? Like Michele Mouton and Claudia Hürtgen did not exist or what? How many feminists, especially of the third and fourth wave academic feminists, do even know her?) She was, damn almost wrote is :( , a great racing driver. Not just a great female racing driver, but a great racing driver, period, of any sex. She was also one of the great TV presenters, being more honest, down-to-earth and genuinely funny than most. She felt more real than any others. But most importantly, as was shown by the many stories told by all the people of all walks of life about her, she was a great person. My heart is with Klaus and all her family and friends, who are poorer for their loss. Still feels unreal that she's gone, that she's not going to come back with some funny or snarky comment about some car or vehicle. Right now she's in a better place and if she was here, Roland, she'd probably grab us both by the neck and knock our heads together for fighting at her memorial. ;) And she'd be right, this is a memorial, a place to remember a person and their life, this is not the place for political fights.
@@LupusAries this isn't about ideology. Yes, Mouton came close to winning the WRC and set a record on Pikes Peak which stood for many years, and I admire her greatly for that, but Schmitz has a longer and arguably even more remarkable record of success spanning over twenty years. Via her TV appearances, she inspired a hell of a lot of people, particularly girls, to go racing.
@@richardharrold9736 If it isn't about Ideology, then why bring it up? And compound that by using the exact buzzwords, wether fitting or not? Honest question. As for Mouton, "came close to winning the WRC" is just underselling it, as you needed multiple rally wins for and mind you that was in Group B.....against Walter Röhrl, Hannu Mikkula and a host of other Rally Legends. You could also make a case for Claudia Hürtgen, who won the DTC Championship twice in a row 2003 and 2004. [Remark: Now don't take what's going to follow as a personal attack on you, it is not intended as such. It is intended as a refutation of the feminist claims on Sabine Schmitz that have been made since she died.] Outside racing fans, few people really know about these great ladies, especially the insulated, weltfremde, Ivory tower inhabitants that make up the majority of the third and fourth wave of the aforementioned ideology. A lot of them would hate her too for promoting those horribly dirty contraptions called cars that destroy the enviroment. * Sabine has had a favourable impact for both young women and men getting in motorsport, wether that is in line with any ideology or not. We have never heard her speak in favour or disfavour of any ideology, and since she died a lot of cases for her being feminist have been made. A movement that before her death seemed to care not one whit*, but suddenly she's a feminist icon.....trying to shore up an ideology by siphoning the glory of that person. *As evidenced, by The Guardian the famous feminist/"progressive"/ mouthpiece's reaction to her inclusion for Top Gear moderator lineup. "I am about as likely to watch Top Gear as I am to weave my bikini line into an ornamental dreamcatcher. So while I normally greet the news that another woman has been allowed to crawl into television’s mainstream schedule with cheer, yesterday’s announcement that Top Gear has finally added Sabine Schmitz to its presenting line-up left me colder than a vanadium crankshaft on a frozen February morning. Not because I think diversity on television isn’t a good idea - it’s the absolute minimum we should expect from any institution - but because I think Top Gear is fetid slurry. Top Gear fetishises the totally unnecessary consumption of fossil fuels in the name of sport, entertainment and feeling better about your premature ejaculation disorder; it normalises dangerously fast driving; it contributes to the hunger for more and more cars that we neither need nor can sustain; it treats the sheer act of moving a machine as if it’s a display of heroic bravery and skill; and it paid Jeremy Clarkson’s salary for over 25 years. In this context, disliking Top Gear because it doesn’t include enough women is a bit like hating Trident because those submarines simply don’t have enough room for your jumpers - it rather misses the point. ...... But back to the faded, bootcut denim midlife moment that is modern Top Gear. “We really do have a bit of everything for everyone,” said Chris Evans, in his line-up announcement yesterday. [...] [.....]there’s the female-faced millionaire and founder of the BMW “ring taxi”, Sabine Schmitz; [.....] ...." Source: www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2016/feb/12/top-gear-loathe-thee-sabine-schmitz Note the "female-faced", seriously? Female-faced, as if she's wearing a mask and is not a real female? Trying to rob her of her femininity, because she doesn't agree with Nell Frizzell, High priest of Feminism?** Actions speak louder than words. Let's celebrate a great person for who she was, and not by attributing her greatness to a movement that either hated her or at best saw her as nothing more than a tool. **A bit of sarcastic hyperbole to shine a light on how those people view themselves, as the moral Leaders of the movement, who like religious leaders are held infallible and create the dogmas of the movement, despite being the least helpful to the stated goals of the movement of all members.
@@LupusAries Schmitz is far more of a household name to people who don't follow racing than Mouton, never mind Hürtgen. You can't quantify the impact she had on inspiring girls who were only watching Top Gear because their father/brother(s) wanted to, who suddenly realised that this world of cars and motorsport was something they could do too. Just because the none-more-woke eco-green-wash Grauniad couldn't find it in them to give her anything but the most grudging praise doesn't negate her importance in inspiring girls one bit.
The tragic news of Sabine's passing hit me hard yesterday. I had never met her, I had seen her on the Top Gear programme and to find out that she had been taken from us at such a young age was a body blow. We also lost the legend, Murray Walker during this week but losing Sabine, well, I think it just stunned all fans of motor sport. RIP Sabine, the outpouring of tributes just goes to show how much she touched the hearts of so many people across the world..
The mere fact that St Jeremy, Captain Slow and Hammond were extremely warm in their tribute to her following her untimely death says more than anything any of us could.....
RIP Sabine. You'll never be forgetten in my heart. This little unscripted tribute about her life is literally why I love so much this brand. I love the story, i love Germany. Thanks Queen of Ring. ♥
Well I guess if we all got to do fun jobs then shit wouldn't get done on this planet lol, there would be no garbage men or construction workers or shit like that because I don't care what anyone says nobody likes manual labor.
That's why you work towards something you're passionate at most of the world's millionaires and billionaires say work in a field you enjoy and can excel at and you will do well
Like many others today I am here having just seen the sad news of her passing. She was the most ALIVE person I think I have ever seen. Her outlook on life was FUN FUN FUN. R.I.P. Sabine.
She's not only the Queen of the Nurburgring, but also the Queen of BMW. Some pieces or curves have a name on the Nurburgring. I Hope BMW and Nurburgring will give Sabine Schmitz a tribute to remember her on the ring where she was born and raised and loved so much. Rest in peace Sabine.
I remember watching this around the time it was released......Who would have thought that this video would end up being a very moving memorial for such a great person. She will be in a better place. May her body rest in piece and her spirit live forever.
Sabine is my hero. I first saw her on Top Gear. And since then, she's been a huge inspiration to me. I even named my very first car after her. Soon, I'll be racing, and I want to be just like her.
Sabine got me into a race car. I saw her on Top Gear and new I had to give it a try. The next week I was at Skip Barber and less than a year later I was racing spec Miatas. Her joy when driving was so apparent! You will be missed, Sabine.
I can watch this as a 24 stone 6'3" man and sit with a tear in my eye without shame. She was, is, and always will be an inspiration and a legend. RIP Sabine 😥
Jeeze. So unfair and sad. She was entertaining and engaging because she seemed so genuine. I guess it's all we can ask; to be remembered for bringing happiness and fun to other people.
Sabine Schmitz has to be one of the scariest people alive. With this cute, girl-next-door look, saying: "I like to scare people. Ha ha!" Which is, of course, absolutely brilliant.
Severity One I was a racer that used to race tricked out Japanese cars and I would make those things do what most didn’t think could be done by a Japanese car, now a German car I could test the waters with a out of a factory setup and it do well but a tricked out German car, even I would be to scared to push it past it’s capability, but Sabine she would and could.
Ahem, "Sabine Schmitz has to be one of the scariest people alive". Perhaps a re-wording would be better "Sabine Schmitz has to be one of the scariest drivers to sit in the passenger seat with." She's not scary, but her driving skills are :)
So sad to hear Sabine has lost her heroic fight against this terrible cancer. One of the best female racers ever, so funny and optimistic. Race in heaven, lovely motor-crazy girl!
Perhaps it is time to delete the qualifier " great girl driver" from her heritage.....I can really drive, but wouldn't stand a chance head to head with herself....so, maybe: just great driver. No modifiers. Any questions ? Do you really think you're faster then her? Dream on, friends.....
"I can do that time in a van" from that moment on Top Gear I was hooked on Sabine, always seemed so bubbly and full of fun enjoying every minute of whatever car she was in, RIP lovely Sabine, motorsport will not be the same without you.
So sad to hear of Sabine passing away so young. She was such a huge personality and force of nature on and off the track. She will be hugely missed by so many, particularly in the motorsport arena. RIP Sabine.
I am getting chills and getting teary eyed watching this video. What a wonderful personality she had. She lived her life. All those top gear shows would not have been the same without her. You will be truly missed. Rest in peace Sabine.
RIP Sabine, you're truly an inspiration. I'm 17 years old, never got behind the wheel of a car, and I am aspiring to be an Automobile Engineer. I hope I'll be able to race on Nürburgring someday later in my life.
I've been watching a few reruns now since I heard of the tragic passing of Sabine, What a fantastic person she was, Funny, Big personality, witty and all-round beautiful person. To the family of Sabine Schmitz Thanks for letting us have this wonderful person in our lives. Always drive fast and have that wonderful smile on your face Sabine wherever you go.
Yes BMW, Sabine is one of the greatest team members you ever had. It would be a great tribute to her to have an M5 CS Sabine Edition. The name even sounds right.
Such a shame she was taken from us so soon. An absolute legend. You could not help but get excited when she talks about her love of racing. Her joy was infectious. Rest in peace Sabine.
Sabine exemplified an expression. "Half as long, twice as bright." We didn't have her for long but when we did, it was the best times we had. She seems to radiate joy every time we saw her. Let her warmth find us in our memories of the "Queen of the Ring". Rest well Sabine.
Such a cool person. Met her at the ring over 10 years ago and she was so friendly, talkative and engaging with the public who brought their cars to drive on the track. A great driver and a legend. RIP
Every time I see a transit van I will be reminded of the time you made every petrolhead grin as you coaxed every bit of performance out of that van going round the ‘Ring’, leaving Richard Hammond behind was hilarious 😂. Thank you Sabine for giving so much joy, so sad that you have been taken so young. RIP Sabine.
That huge smile, that zest for every new day, I know she didn't get to do everything she wanted probably, but she kicked ass and did what she loved. And the world needs more like her. RIP Sabine. Thanks for sharing your smile with us.
This came up on my recommended videos and I really enjoyed watching Sabine do her thing on the track. I didn't know who she was until today. She was quite a character. It wasn't until I looked at the comments that I found out she had passed away. So sad. God Bless you Sabine, your family, friends, and fans. Not sure if you can 'scare people' in Heaven but I'm sure you are trying!!! ❤🙏
I will deeply miss Sabine her Positivity, her honesty, she lived life so close to the surface. One could not help, but be touched her sweetness, and truly genuine humanity.
RIP, so brave in all her battles. Such an inspiration to a female like myself & to all racing & car fans. I love how she adored & found fun in every single lap of the nordschleife & never tired of it, if anything cos she knew it so well she got faster & more excited every single time! What an amazing lady & I’ll always remember her for being fast, brave, inspiring, exciting & always smiling.
I am absolutely choked up having just watched this short film. Sabine was such a lovely, lovely girl. She had a wonderful, fun personality, immeasurable talent & a captivating sunshine smile. There's no justice in this world, for this marvelous girl to be taken from us is a tragedy. God bless you Sabine x
The Queen of the ring will never be forgotten. I know we didn't know her personally but I think she touched everyone with her joy and passion for motorsport.
Live a life worth living! Do something with the opportunity we have here! Be grateful for the blessings your have and dream big! A soul that lit up the world!
An AMAZING woman and one of the best drivers to ever live. I'll miss you, Sabine. The Nürburgring will never be the same without you. 💔 #RIPSabineSchmitz #QueenoftheNurburgring
When watching this she makes me feel alive knowing that she passed away the energy she brings with her the laugh the fun. Rip you will always be the queen.
Boy, I just found out that she died... And while scrolling through the videos, I saw this thumbnail... She looks so sad. She was a lovely lady, may she rest in peace
I've lost my father to cancer a few months ago, he was just a couple years older than her. When I heard about her passing away too it struck me more than it probably should. Life is not fair. It's just not fair.
If I ever have a daughter, I will do my utmost to raise her to have the same will of spirit she carried. You will be missed Sabine, but never forgotten.
What an incredible woman, beautiful honest genuine smile, etc. I'm surprised she has not been proposed to by more than a few F1 drivers. I cannot imagine a serious race driver who *wouldn't* want such a woman, who shares their special passion.
just watched it again. amazed to see no more comments since mine from a year ago. Best girl driver ever. Simply amazing talent. So funny and bubbly to listen to. RIP.
She looked that good, had that much of a great talent, such a great character and scared so many people being the Nurburgring Taxi - Sad to hear the news,,,she will be missed
Our most sincere condolences from Texas to her family and friends. She was such a delight to watch on TV, so cheerful and bubbly always seemed happy, made me feel good just watching her. She will be missed... May we never forget... Sabine Schmitz
She was so full of life , it’s like she gave off sparks , so much joy and enthusiasm beauty charisma and skill, a real roll model for girls to look up to , the world is a little darker without her in it , my condolences to her family and friends.
